Got a non-start situation on a 91(H) UK TT manual and a third party diagnosis suggests the "Crankshaft Position Sensor". Couple of questions... Where will I find this located on the engine? If a replacement is needed, is this a straightforward unbolt/bolt with a trolley jack DIY task? Where's best place to get one and what do they cost ? Thanks for your help, apprentice

Got a 1995 Jap Import NA Auto and there's a small two way rectangular switch just forward and to the right of the drive selector. At the top it reads "POWER", on the switch itself it reads "A/T", and at the bottom "HOLD". The bloke that sold it to me said I should drive around with it in "POWER" setting. What the hell does it do because I haven't noticed any difference what setting it's on? Any ideas guys? PS car drives great anyway.

right, i've only owned my zed for a week now, when i bought it there was a hum coming from the rear of the car. the seller told me it was the centre propshaft bearing and included the new part in the sale. i fitted the bearing today and all was looking well. however, the noise remains, and as well as that, there is a vibration coming from it now!! the seller told me he initially thought it was a wheel bearing, and had this replaced, but it never solved it. i dont know which side it was though. the noise appears to be coming more from the left hand side. Do any of you guys know what would be causing the hum or now the vibration also? help is…

You know when your car just aint running right, I have that feeling now, done a fault code check , nothing, everything seems ok , but the boost slowly drops as the car gets warmed up(13.5psi to 11psi) and it dont feel as fast. I am hoping that replacing the centre box with 2 straight pipes will sort it as the baffles are gone in the box ( i am getting it done at long life exhausts tommorow), its the only thing i can think of that could cause it, I am hoping the extra backpressure is causing the probs as the exhaust is getting incredibly hot. Ah well either im going mad or it is the centre box Tune in for more insane ramblings tommorow when i accuse my car of sleepi…

Car passed its MOT yesterday, despite someone hitting me from behind on my way there (no damage luckily). It's been off the road for 18 months while I replaced big end bearings (for the second time), turbos and various other bits. Engine's now been out three times. So happily drove the car to and from work yesterday. All was well. Took it out for an hour today and I'm starting to hear the tell tail knocking of the bloody big end bearing again! There's obviously something else wrong that I'm missing. I've had the crank polished and replaced the bearings with same size once. I've had it ground and replaced with oversize once. And it's always the same bearing that …

I've removed my centre console to paint it silver again (cracked it last time I had to get at the stereo  ) but I was wondering if anyone has actually colour-coded it? i.e. painted it the same colour as the car bodywork. The more I thought about it the more it seemed like it might look pretty good. (Either that or I've got heat stroke LOL) What do you think?

All fooked, lol. The one from the engine to the cat has three wholes The same one the other side only has two bolts onto engine, third sheared. Whats sh1t is the people who took out the engine to do work never sorted it and just chucked it back on, which I think is wa*k workmanship. The centre boxes inbetween the cat and the back box have a bracket welded between them which is ripped out and causing a blow. Any idea how much all this sh1t will cost to fix??

Changed the spark plugs today and found no.1 spark plug covered in oil, fresh oil. Looked down and the piston was dry. Put new spark plug in and ran the engine. Took the spark plug out and the whole lot including piston was covered in fresh oil. Where the fook is that coming from??? Bearing in mind i've had the head gasket done and new pcv valves??
