General Discussions - 300ZX Related

Hi Guys I took my Zed for a spin last night and wasn't lloking at the temp gauge. Steam started coming from under the bonnet and when I looked at the gauge it was at the top. Pulled into Sainsburys and let her cool down then filled her up with over 5 litres of water. It all went in as I looked underneath and none was coming out. Why would the rad be empty if there is no hole. I checked it a couple of weeks ago, but have only driven it twice since. Drove home which was about 25mins drive and the gauge never moved. Do you think I have a problem and do you think that I have done any long lasting damage? Thanks Spencer

It was red, at a place called Salah Imports in Birmingham Nearly, nearly bought it.....but something in my head said no. Drove nearly 3 hours each way, and I am gutted. Few little problems I noticed were... Front bumper had no plastic mud guard behind it...and no mesh around the front. Pannel above the bumper before the bonnett was pink instead of red. Rear bumper was pink. The reversing lights pannel between the lights was slightly iffy. Turbo guage was not working, and didn't feel as quick as it should IMHO Rear spolier was a little loose. Inside one of the rear archs was a mess, whereas the other was clean. The deciding factor... …

if i was to remove the heads to change the stem seals etc, is it then possible to remove the turbos without removing the engine? thanks.

Got my Greddy intercooler today and when i opened it, in the box was a stencil to spray Greddy onto the front of it. As it will be on show i want to do this, can i just use any kind of spray can like from Wilco or Halfrords?? Also has anyone got a Uk fitting instructions, my Japanese is only a lil better than my Inglish and that isn't too good hehe. In other huh??? funny symbols :tongue:

Finally getting my car sprayed in couple of weeks. Was going to get original silver with large flakes, but now not too sure, now thinking blue. What colour do you guys think it should go?

Hi well I finally got hold of a working used Tps this week coz mine was cracked, i got chance to have a go at fitting it tonight all went great, mounted it pluged it in, connected datascan, ignition on and set the tps at 0.44v only to find that the tps was open at 0.44v, and the Egr sol was off. So what i did then was adjust the Tps until it was closed, when i reached this point the Tps was reading 0.30v-0.32v and the Egr sol was on, so i started her up to see what happend and it idled fine with the Tps set at 0.32v + Egr sol on and the AAC was 24 then changed to 12 after i went for a spin round the block, the only differnce i noticed that wasn't there before is that when…

on my exhuast coming from the headers etc, there is a section on the pipe that has two resonators, can i remove them both or just one of them without affecting the backpressure on the turbos? i can understand having one resonator on single out pipe before the silencer but there is two on this bugger!!! must have been too loud before prehaps? im sure mine has got cats still on also.

My off side upper suspension arm is knackered apparently. Load of wheel movement and looks like bushing has worn. Mechanic reckons that I dont need to replace the pair and that replacing with adjustable ones is overkill. Since I am selling up soon, I dont want to go overboard - any thoughts on this ?? Also any other thoughts on what I should get done at the same time? Where is the best place to get hold of the part? Car is a 98M Jap Import TT. When the mechanic went to local Nissan they could not match the serial number :headvswal to get the date of manufacture (they knew it was import but couldnt work it out apparently). Looking at engine; left front 152 left middle 150 left back 151 right front 140 right middle 140 right back 90 wet 150 (guessing that means its the ring???) Whats the chances of a piston going from 140-150 to 90 in 1000miles as I had it done by a garage and I was told they were all fine!??!?!?!?!

Hello everyone, does anyone have any idea of the best place, in the uk, to get a replacement compressor or even just the magnetic clutch kit for an earlier r12 system compressor? Z1 motorsports in states have some cheap components but the shipping totally ruins the deal and its hard communicating with them as they seem unreliable or unwilling to assist us blighters! MY compressor and system is sound, just the clutch mechanism windings have failed, so a rebuild or rewind is also possible if anyone can give me a contact please? thank you in anticipation Shrew

Has any1 recently bought new PCV valves? the reason i want to know is to find out the correct functioning of them... should the internal spring push the valve up and seal around the housing or should it just rattle around inside under normal conditions? I have just bought new ones from MJP as 1 of mine was a little rattly, but the 2 new ones i have received also rattle about! :confused:

guys, my new power steering hose is due to arrive on friday, so the car will be back on the road. hurrah!! what fluid should i be using in the power steering system, just your average-joe ATF? or do nissan have some wonder fluid i should be using?

Still need to get my oil leak sorted guys, please can you let me know when I can bring her back. You did a good job on my engine rebuild and the engine drives sweetly enough, but once you had done the final oil change and i had the 4k rev limit removed it has started to drip oil, and I don't like to drive it too much while it is like that - which means I get no fun in this great weather. I completely understand you have been busy with holiday, house move, premises move and the Nurburgring trip, but now your all settled down can you pm me a date or give me a call. Cheers Steve

What reason would there be for the large turbo hoses [x4] into induction blowing off the end of the induction, only one at the moment. I just fitted stronger hose clips but to frightened to drive in all this rain to test it :eek: Car is running on 11---16psi!! Dave
