Trying to wire in a new boost gauge, its a smoked glass version so I need a live feed to it to light the gauge once ignition is on. Ive searched around a bit and followed instructions to pick up a feed from the ashtray light live but this only lights my gauge when the vehicle lights are on. Have tried the positive to the radio but once I hook up to it the radio is dead. Heres my question, does anyone know the colour of the live wire into the small digital clock, Im hoping to pick up a live from there. Another possibility is one of the 2 looms/white connectors on either side of the dash cowl...again if anyone knows the correct wire Id be very grateful. I ought to mention t…

The digital gauges i bought from a company in the states for an old car of mine that had a cable driven speedo have been sitting patiently waiting to be installed in the zed... up until now the company i bought them off didnt sell speed sensors for cars without a cable driven speedo... my question is, they now offer a range of speed sensors of which im hoping one would be compaitible, but i have no idea which one to get lol... if i could please rob a moment of your time to look here and see if you see a sensor that you think might be suitable... im thinking the very bottom one myself. im hoping sum1 can either confirm or deny any of these applications. chee…

Well this girls been getting dirty, and before you lads start anything I was talking about oil, grease and general engine dirt. LOL I now have blue silcone vaccum hose's and the Bov's are almost on. Getting at those recirc valves was a complete PITTA. Everything from under the front nose cover is now in the boot till tomorrow when I put it all back again. I had fun cutting bit with a hacksaw blade yet again. It took me 4 hours out there and this is the second time I've run out of light to finnish the job. So wish we luck for tomorrow, lads my poor hands are all scrapped up and I've broken a few nails :(

Few pics just before it comes out of the garage. (Just in case I wrap it up at the first roundabout) Just got to tidy engine bay a bit, align suspension, and fit the boot trim and it's ready for the road. Apart from the front suspension being too high now. It may be too high to drive far so may be back in the garage next weekend. It's about 30mm higher at the front and 12mm higher at the back now, due to losing all the Nissan stuff. I thought it would be about the same as I've put in a fair bit of extra soundproofing, but it seems as if it's going to be 100-150kgs lighter at a guess. Going to run a carb at first, to run engine in, and fit injection and the blo…

Attempted to fit these today and gave up!!! Can anyone who has fitted them tell me if the 2 bolts that you take out and replace with longer ones will come apart from the bracket on the inside of the engine bay or are they welded to the bolts? Cheers, Andy

Has anyone on here had any probs with mounting the P.T.U where the carbon canister is? Plan on removing the canister and putting the P.T.U down there but a bit worried about it getting wet or overheating or something. Cheers Steve.

Hi, all. I recently posted that I was looking for a repair kit for my brake master cylinder. I now know where to get one (thankyou for the replies), and I've even been offered a replacement for the entire bmc (thankyou again). Before I buy one or the other (or both!), can anyone tell me if I am doing the right thing? The brake fluid seems to be leaking out from where the bmc mates with the booster....does this mean it IS something leaking in the bmc, or should there be a gasket between the bmc and the booster (there isn't one there at the mo - could it have rotted away?)? I'm assuming the seal at the end of the bmc is perishing, but I've had a look at it and it looks…

About 2 weeks ago I found my car was running safety boost and was chucking out code 34. Being the det sensor, I followed the guide and put a 1m-ohm resistor in place at the connector block in the engine bay. This worked fine for a couple of days (had code 55) and then the car went back into code 34!!!!! :x: Following my previous post earlier this week, I decided to wire directly to the ECU at pin point 23  , I spliced into the wire and connected the 1m-ohm resistor in line and then grounded the other end to the body of the car! This seemed to work fine and the car is back running properly on 1-bar boost  , but, the car is still throwing…

I had a search, but couldn't find an answer. Maybe it's so simple that nobody else needs to ask... My Z has an old Blaupunkt Bremen radio-casstte head unit with a 10CD changer in the boot. The cables to the changer burnt out after a hot track session and I decided that was the cue to bin the changer and get a new head unit. To keep it simple (I hoped  ) I stuck with Blaupunkt. I was worried that the connectors might be different, but the cocky kid in the electronics superstore assured me they were the same – just unplug the old, plug in the new. So, finally, I found time to do this. Pull out the old and see straight away that they are NOT the sam…

Just done a compression test....... On taking the plug out of the middle right cylinder alarm bells started ringing, oil all over it. results are 145 V 80 140 V 30 140 V 135 So thats it then, now I have a desision to make, break it or fix it Im totally 50/50 at the moment I really want to get shot of it and get something simple that I will actually get some enjoyment out of, caterham perhaps. I dont see the point of having a big GT car just for the weekends when i might as well just get a proper track car. But then again I have spent so many hours on it getting it just right and it was almost there, I do enjoy shows and meets as well. :…

Anyone ever fitted R34GTR wheels to a 300 ? I understand they are 9.5" x 18" with an offset of 15mm - will they fit ? I have R33 wheels at the moment which are fine, although 17" and a little narrower.
