General Discussions - 300ZX Related

Hi Everyone and thanks for all the help with the last hose problem I had. That wonderful "right in the middle and up the back of the engine one!" I could use a wee bit of help again with this if anyone out there can. The hose the mechanic took off at the back had a restrictor inside it and I am now wondering if the hoses I am now looking for are supposed to have restrictors too. I am told that the rubber hoses are the crankcase ventilation hoses. There is one either side of the engine at the front and they come off of a black plastic pipe - below the intercooler and boost hoses - and seem to attatch to a metal pipe that then joins a block than sits on top…

Is there a definitive guide out there for installing one of these? I’ve had a look at a guide on this forum but the minimum boost would be set at 9 psi instead of 7psi and you also need loads more silicon tubing. Do you need extra tubing etc to install the profec b spec 2 in a 300zx. I would prefer a guide that is step by step and has pics. Or alternatively someone who lives near me to come help or to do it :tongue: . Thanks Paul

Well after my dash pod saga screwed up i have comew up with another cunning plan I am going to put my turbo timer where the clock is (not so uncommon) with my Apexi meter above it, along side that the boost gauge and in the place of the two top vents in the centre dash will go oil pressure and water temp, just need another dash to destroy now :) What you lot reckon.

could some one please tell me the correct offset for a set of wheels for 300tt (j spec if it makes a difference) thinking of 18s or 19s as replacement for the stock alloys, I believe the pcd is 114 is this correct, also whats the bore size please.

guys my zed was a cat c loss last year but has now been fully repaired with an engineers report, problem is when it comes to insurance they nearly double the quote ffs is there a way of getting it inspected by the dvla to remove it from the list ?? or are there any more forgiving insurance companys i can call??

Hi can anybody out there help ? I need to replace the O2 sensors on my TT 1991 Zx, Ive come across some universal one on ebay £14.95 each but need to specify how many connections I need !!! Does anybody out there know ? also would it be a good idea to fit these or go for the genuine articals ? Cheers Al

Hi Yet another minor problem. I took the gauge cluster out to change some bulbs, reassembled the whole thing and now the temp gauge doesn´t work properly. The needle only moves up a fraction as the engine gets hot but not even quarter of the way. (usually at halfway ) I´ve taken the thing apart now four times since yesterday and I still can´t find anything wrong :( I even changed the temp gauge as I had a spare one here , but it made no difference. Anyone got any ideas ? cheers Maz

I was coming into work this afternoon and all was good, pulled up at the lights and noticed the idle drop and the car nearly died but then the revs shot up and then it evened out. Pulled off and it felt fine so I gave it a little juice. The car gets up to 5 psi easy enough and then crawls up to 7 which I believe is safety boost. There is no smoke or anything but it does feel a bit lumpy once it gets above 5 psi. :cry: The idle is now also jumping about a little for a few seconds and then evening out. This morning it seemed fine and I drove about forty miles with no problems. I will be looking to see if theres any error codes when I get home but was just wander…

Hello! I was just looking at a zed with no boot spoiler and I liked the look of it! Z32 that is! whats the best way to take one off? just had a quick look at mine and to me it looks like its stuck down with black sticky stuff! surely theres some screws somewhere? Cheers anyway!!

Got to solder in a large quantity of LED's and they come with a pack of resistors, so I can feed them off a 12v supply. My question is can I just use the 1 resistor on the main feed wire or do I have to use 1 resistor per LED? Will it effect brighness? Cheers Vijay

Hello all, I have a H reg tt uk spec and im thinking of a cam belt change as I dont know when it was changed last. Can anyone tell me how difficult this is to do? is it an engine out job? and what would the price be at a main dealer? Also if anyone can tell me what problems you would get, if any, by over filling an auto box as mine has a dodgy reverse when cold and when going through the gears hard it goes from 1-2-4-3-4 would this be due to over filling?? When I start from cold she is hesitating, if you leave the accelerator in the same position it picks up and then hesitates etc. Then when warmed up and with A/C off the revs keeps dropping right down to just above stalling speed, the engine just about keeps idling. Sometimes the idle speed goes to high as well! When the A/C is on when warm, the idle seems ok most of the time, but sometimes too high.

1. I recently did the clear rear indicator conversion. only done one side so far but all went fine but strangely now every time i switch on the lights the rear light doesnt come on (either both bulbs or one or other of them) and i have to go round to the rear and give the unit a tap on the front and it is fine. tried looking for a loose connection but cant find anything. Anyone heard of this problem before? 2. Hi everyone, been a while but after having two RX-7's I'm back in a Z and lovin it :) I've got Tonyc's black shorty, bought it from cona2k on Saturday. Had some problems so took it to Protech in Nailsea. The water leak turned out to be a short heater matrix hose which had split. Also had a misfire which they cured by cleaning the coil packs and other connectors. Now it goes like stink! Just about holds traction in first gear, raise the boost slightly and it spins and wants to go sideways! my zed is chipped but i am not sure by who it came with a instruction book with a good few pages, white paper, picture of the chip and writing on the front page i cant find the booklet now and was wondering if they were about so i could tell what chip i have i remember a quote from it "everytime detonation happens its bad for your engine"
