Couple of questions. Drove my Zed for the first time since my test drive today. Was taking the car for its MOT and it was freezing outside , anyway the car seemed really sluggish. As it was freezing outside I was very reluctant to put my foot down, didn't want to be wheel spinning! only took it up to a little over 2000rpm but it did seem quite hesitant and slow on picking up. The bloke at the garage said that autoboxes can be sluggish in cold weather until they have warmed up, as i've never had an auto before I don't know if this is true or not. Should I be worrying about this or is it normal? Could only drive the car to the MOT station and back as it isn…

  4. I have a UK tt Z and I havnt started it up for nearly a week now, it has the correct amount of antifreeze in it and starts and runs perfectly all the time. However, I still dont plan on using it while this cold spell is here and who knows how long it is going to last. So, what am I best doing? Leaving it alone? Or Starting it up and letting it reach temperature? If I do am I best waiting for the weather to thaw out or am I best starting it asap? Its the belts I am mainly concerned about, dont want the cold to crack them... what do you guys recommend? Cheers, Dan

  5. In a turbocharged car whats causes the chattering noise when the accelerator pedal is released? Also, is the noise a good sign or is it causing damage to something? Cheers guys, Dan

Need a little clarification here. I was all set for changing my side lights, which I thought were 501's in the fog light. However, when I looked at the fogs, there's just 1 bulb which appears to be both fog and side. Thought I was going made, so checked the indicator housing and there's one bulb for the indicator, and another which I've never seen on! WTF!?!?!?! Its a 94 Jap spec car. Am I right in thinking that UK cars have the side lights in the indicator housing, and Jap spec with the fog? So there should be 2 bulbs in my fog and only the indicator in the indicator housing. To add to my confusion, the fog light is just soldered to the wire and has …

I have had my first meltdown today. Pulled up at traffic lights and the engine cut out. I tried to start her but it behaved like it had a flat battery. Luckily I had a portable jumpstart box in the boot fully charged. I jumped it, but lots of rubber smelling smoke filled the car, it seemed to be coming from the driver's side of the engine bay - near the front, but I couldn't see anything. No warning lights came on and the oil pressure was good, as was the temp guage. I drove home and abandoned the car there, but it drove home fine and the smoke and smell cleared really quickly. Anyone got any ideas what that could be? I don't want to drive it if I might have issues.

Hi all, as you probably know, I have been after a replacement speed sensor for an auto box, couldn't get one, so have repaired my own, dissmantled it, coil was ok, but the magnets had lost their magnetism, so re-magnetised them with a big magnet, put it all back together, and hey presto, works perfect! I'm chuffed, and ya never know, this may help somebody else with the same problem....

I bought some crystal corners a little while back and tried to fit them this weekend. They don’t want to fit into my Stillen bumper. The reason is because for the way the bulb inserts are angled, which is different form the original JDM ones. Anyone else had this problem with any other bumper ?

Well my Intercoolers turned up today. Really pleased with the quality and amazed at how much bigger they are compared to the stock ones. Well these are part of the bits I'm collecting ready for my rebuild starting early next year. Really looking forward to the start of that, just got to wait for the turbos to turn up, with the forged internals I'm ordering after xmas and im finally getting somewhere with ashspec and the radiator problem I've been having since march. One thing I want to ask is, the slight dent in the finns (shown in the second picture), will they affect the efficiency of the cooler? Thanks Ant

I must add that everyone that I have spoke too, shown or took for a drive in the Zed ....... love it :nana2: From mate's dad's having the glazed look in their eyes to my partners dad (who is 73 wth 2 new hips) literally jumping in the car after I have got out at their house (you can see in the smirk, he wants to blast it). Not one bad or even cheesy comment (a few saying how much earlier I arrive to the office ;))
