Now the zeds back on the road i'm gradually sorting out the niggles, one thing that is really annoying is this vibration that comes on from around 20mph - 40mph then lessens, its quite bad as you can feel it through the seat. Many thread searches would lead me to believe its either the autobox rear mount or prop shaft centre bearing or both, its a 1990 J spec TT auto, if i take it to my usual spanner monkey will they be able to tell which it is by looking at either of them? I'm not too bothered about flash upgrade parts like one piece props or nismo mounts, as i don't plan to keep the car for ever would stock nissan parts suffice?

Since i have been suffering with some vibrations I took the zed to another garage this morning for another wheel alignment and balance of my 17" Momo arrows.... but ended up buying a set of 19" Toyo T1-S for my vortex evo's instead. I have to say it looks the mutts nuts, and the great news is the vibrations has gone! really odd though is the ride has really improved now I'm on 19's. I was expecting a much firmer ride and more tyre noise, but it's the opposite - the car is much quieter now than before.

I know it's possible to get the car to idle with the MAF disconnected, but can you drive with out it for a short while ? The reason I ask is that ever since I fitted the Doolz, I'm suffing WMD (Wet MAF Disorder). After a fari bit of rain, some gets onto the filter and soaks into the filter itself. Next time I try and start the car it will choke and not rev above 3k rpm. So I usually have to take off the filter and maf, put the filter in the over to dry out and then put it back together and all is well. However to dry out properly it takes a good hour, that's (not with the oven on). I'm supposed to be at the lakeside meet by 6pm and I know I'm not gonna…

Just a big thanks to the people at Zedworld. Had an assessment of my new Zed and apart from a couple of tweaks was looking good  The coffee and chat was excellent and will hopefully (not due to the car going bang :x:) down again soon for the scheduled maintenance :):):)

hello everyone new guy just joined, i dont have a z at the minute but ive always liked them think they look stunning and am hoping to buy one just before summer next year, i currently drive an e36 2 door bmw coupe which is as lovely but not as fast. Anyway i was looking at this 300zx manual, non turbo with 240bhp, but was thinking the twin turbo one is 300bhp, so the turbo's only add 60bhp from standard ? is this right. but the real question is are the non turbos any good, fast ? can they be made even quicker with a few mods ?. it seems that twin turbo manuals are at least £4000 to £10,000 and the auto ones are dirt cheap, but i was thinking i could get a n…

Can anyone please tell me if a U.K. Zed has a oil warning light, whereas my Jap hasn't ? I ask because my local parts shop is getting me a sender for £5.99 and the cheapest I have found on the net is about £45. The part was listed for a 300zx from 90-96 as an oil switch, with no other oil sender listed at all. I need a sender but fear that this is not the right part. Any help please ? :headvswal

Hi, hoping that someone can help please. I am by no means an engineer or mechanic, I love my ZX but don't tinker with it. Started up fine on Suinday, but just tried this afternoon (Friday) and all I get is what's best described as a "light mechanical clicking" sound when I try to turn the engine over. All the ignitions lights are on as they should be. Please, anyone any ideas ? Thanks 1996 SWB TT

I have recently had a 4 wheel laser align and my wheels balanced. I know my prop bearing needs to be replaced soon as that gives me a little shake through the drivers seat between 40-50 mph, but I am noticing a shake through the steering wheel which is something else. I have had enough zeds with knackered prop bearings to know what that feels like -and this isn't that kind of vibration. It almost feels like a buckled wheel (but I have just had them all balenced). I don't do mental breaking to warp a disc - I'm baffled. Anyone got any ideas. It is most noticeable at an indicated 75mph (only doing 70mph according to gps officer before you tell me off for speeding). …

Hi, I'm new here, looking for a possibility to buy a 91-95 300zx TT. I'm French, I moved to California for 1-2 years. Does anybody here knows enough about Maserati biturbo (biturbo/Ghibli/Quattroporte IV) to compare them with 300zx TT ? Handling, performance, maintenance, strong/weak points. For everyday usage and possibly track days. I own a 430 18v boosted to 300hp, I left it in France. I do all the mechanical work myself. If I had a 300zx I'd do all the maintenance by myself as well. Thank you
