I have a TT 1991 and am having some problems and would appreciate some advice on a few things. The car has done 92K miles and has been driven extremely carefully and the turbos rarely used. The car is always heated up ans cooled down at the start and end of every trip. The last few weeks I have noticed a few problems. Firstly, there is a very loud tapping noise coming from the drivers side behind the dashboard which could either be in the car itself but can also be heard outside the car, near the drivers side wiper. Its normally only when cold and when idling in traffic. Secondly, for the last few weeks the car has smelt very strongly of petrol despite being …

Sounds stupid but does anyone else's car give off a weird smell from some the rubbers, the headlight rubbers seem to be the worst, always noticed it since owning the car but as it's been stood for 6 months it seems stronger now.

Hi all, I discovered the other day that I have heated mirrors! Awesome! However, what isn't so awesome is that I have in fact got heated mirror. As in the driver's side one. The passenger one doesn't work! Is this a common thing with a common fix, or shall I just pull it apart and start checking?

As you may well know my Zed is currently stuck in my garage with the front quite severly damaged due to some old dink pulling out of a side turning in her Focus. By the time I hit the brake I was colliding with her front wing. My car is repairable but the cost of parts alone is quite a sum. A Border front mount and AB Flug front panel is just over £2K, plus the other radiators, front wings and bonnet, lights etc., and an inner wing. No doubt my viscous fan is mullered too. The man from the bodyshop states that it is 'beyond economic repair'*. I do not have an agreed Insurance value, so where do you start with a valuation especially as prices today are grim. I have spent s…

Hi I have purchased a cat-back delete kit including the new elbows. In the process of removing the existing cats section I have sheared two bolts from the left three point hook up to the stock elbow. This even after much soaking/heat etc. So my question is - based on my experience to date and the above - I am pretty sure the turbo elbow fittings (two studs and two nuts) will be [hell of] a LOT harder!!! :hurl: I need to know that if I shear a stud/bolt on the actual elbows - will I be able to recover/drill out without removing the engine etc etc. Your guidance as ever is appreciated. ;) AndyGP
