My zed hasn't been run for a couple of months as I'm doing a lot of work on it. Went to start it today and nothing happened  All the electrics work, battery is fully charged but when I turn the key it does nothing, not even a click :headvswal The car had an alarm fitted but the previous owner had disabled it. While doing the interior I removed the (and chucked!) the alarm control box as I didn't think it was doing anything. All that I left was the wiring that is going to the ignition switch. Could this be my problem? Could I have inadvertently disabled the ignition? Help!!

Anybody recommend any local paint suppliers in Cornwall?? Used to be one in Pool but that was some years ago and can't remember the name. Done a few searches but just household paint comes up :( Need a bumper and spoiler paint matched. Oh, how many litres would you expect would be needed for the above??

I have been looking at chin spoilers without really finding any, apart from the Viper V1 and V2 Chin Spoiler from the zcentre. http://www.zcentre.co.uk/shop/product_info.php?cPath=21_22_26&products_id=276 I want to change the front slightly and put on some sort of lower chin spoiler to bring out the lower part of the front bumper. Does anyone know of any other companys that do these to give me more of a selection to choose from please? Thanks, Ant

My zed is down at D2 for some serious TLC (much welding, amongst other things), and Darren has told me that all its shocks need replacing :( So, I've done a quick search on the site for previous discussions on the matter, and I still think I'd like your input. Basically, I've got a stock 93 UK LWB TT. I'm not into massively modding it up, more interested in restoration, but I'm not against minor improvements in handling (and power - but that's a thread for another day). The question is: do I fit stock shocks (cheap option) or do i spring for something else, and if so, what do i go for? Chris

Anyone seen the article in the new redline mag about bov testing? apparently some of the tests revealed better times (spool up i think) on recircs and on other occasions even better with no bov fitted?.....Just been doing some research on the interweb and there is a lot of mixed views on whether or not it actually does harm if any to the turbo, there is obviously pros and cons to both methods but what is everyones opinions on not using any form of bov?

Despite fitting a new centre bearing some months previous the owner of this zed was disappointed when the vibration returned, but when the vibration changed to knocking he new best to get it checked out. Knocking from under the transmission tunnel was enough of a clue where the problem lay but when removed the propshaft coupling condition was a horror photo, unfortunately not possible to show in the photo`s but you could almost part it completely, imagine at motorway speeds if that happened. Lesson here is to not ignore sounds like this, the owner had the presence of mind to not only stop using the car but transported it by trailer to us, the centre bearing had…

co 0.612% hc 82 ppm Result! PASS. You just need to be sure that the tester follows the correct procedure. First of all enter the correct year and model on the PC to start the test. then after that it fails to pass the first test on the analiser which it will probably do. Limit is 0.3% co. Thats hard to get without a cat!. Just make sure the tester scrolls down the NISSAN model list.. NO 300ZX found! So enter "other". That then defaults to a non cat test which allows much higher values to pass (co 3.5% hc 1200ppm.) Jobs a goodun! Didnt actually get an overall pass today due to a worn front bottom ball joint:cry: but I have already changed that this after…

The dash lights dim , the air con unit display dissappears and the starter dosent even attempt to turn over Battery is brand new as is the starter motor. I have a feeling it could be my immobiliser thats causing the drain but dose anyone have any other ideas Cheers Roy

Well after all the waiting and saving we finally got started on the engine build yesterday morning. First job before rudy got there was to get the freeze plugs in place and just finish painting the front face. When he did arrive we started by putting in the shell bearings and testing the clearance of the crank shaft Next job was crank down the caps and using plastigauge (which squishes out to a certain width) inbetween the shell bearing and the crank you can work out the clearances at the top which were absolutely spot on from front to back:

I know this must come up time and time again, but, Tonight i drove my car quite hard, I then let it cool on tickover for about 5 minutes. About 2 hours later I started it up and whilst it was ticking over I noticed whisps of smoke from the nearside exhaust that smelt like buring oil. I drove the car home and the smoke seemed to disappear... Whats causing this? What can I do to prevent this? What damage is it causing? Thanks guys, Dan
