General Discussions - 300ZX Related

I need to get new plates made up and I have the rear oblong kind-I have just been to Halfrauds (twice, long story) and they say they don't do them and can only do square motorcycle style ones. Where else can I try to get one from?

I've just opened up my ecu to find out exactly what chip i'm running and what its designed for but its an se-nissan chip who appear to have ceased trading? so can't find any details from them! anyway, does anybody have any idea what my chip is designed for? i.e. what mods, how aggressive it is etc. the number on it is SEZ32.460 if that helps? any help would be greatly appreciated cheers guys

I have this thread posted http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=125525 but when I plugged in conzult and read ecu fault codes first was error 34 knock sensor, second try and the screen said 'reading' and then the screen filled with ddddddddddddddddddddddddddreading...... The dddd kept getting longer, same eveytime after 4-5 goes. Never seen this, any ideas???

Hi there everyone, Had a bit of a nightmare week this week. Got a couple of problems that I'm hoping you can help me with. 1. Front left brake caliper pistons has seized, 3 of the 4 totally stuck solid. 2. Rear brake lines will not part from the hard metal lines. The join is totally rusted solid. Have goodridge lines to replace them with. I have tried all the obvious solutions to both problems but all to no avail so its now time to get serious. I am open to any solutions including upgraded calipers but nothing too stupid in price please. The car is my daily driver and being off the road out here is a total disaster. Many thanks, Rob

What is the difference between an induction kit & a cold air intake?? is there one?? aren't they the same thing??

Just took the Z out, didn't notice it at first, but looked down and saw my Speedo was sat at 0 and the milometer wasn't moving (everything else working fine). Turned round to take it back again and looked down and suddenly it started working again. Are there known faults with speedos doing this? I'm going to take the binnacle off in a second to check that all the connectors are snug and 'clipped'.

this is not a picture of my cars engine bay... BUT.. I would just like to know what the parts are that I have circled.. as I can't find a Haynes manual/site which tells me what all of the engine components are... The Bottom right one has "coolant" on it.. i'm guessing this is for the radiator.. some sort of overflow tank?.. but it doesn't have any levels on it so I can tell how much is in it?... And the top one.. is just a little metal container thingy.. lol.. can someone tell me what they are for please :) Also.. if anyone could direct me to a link where It has an explanation of engine bay items that would be great.. and finally.. do the rear washer …

i want to replace my intercoolers, for bigger ones, is it as simple as just buying one and fitting it, or is it alot more technical then that. Dom

How do i remove the gear knob, as mine my interior is a little plain. so thinking of fitting after market gear knob & hand blake lever, pedals etc don't want nothing to in ya face as i like my car just want to brighten it up a little.

Since the my Z is more than 10 years old I'm guessing it can be insured as a classic ? Does anyone here insure theirs as a classic ? Can you recommend a provider ? Any help much appreciated...... Mark

Is 380 bhp possible ,these are my mods /de cat/trust exhaust system/hks filter/stillen side mounts/hks boost controler /mines ecu/nismo clutch/.Still running standard turbos will 1 bar get this or do i need bigger turbos/ injectors etc thanks.;)

Hi can you get replacement silicone intercooler hoses for the standard intercooler take offs behind the bumper not in engine bay .Was thinking of changing mine when i fit my new stillen side mount intercoolers.thanks.:cool:

Saw you heading along Muller Road yesterday, just gone under the railway bridge. I wasn't in my Zed (and going the other way), but I could see a lot of staring from people in the cars infront and behind me :) Certainly the Zed's have presence.

Hello all Sorry Steve! I bought a longlife exhaust recently and have Greg Dupree divorced downpipes and 2fast2cool decats. Its just too loud sounds like a trumpet rather than an exhaust at low revs. What can I do to fix it? Cheers all Ron

I've posted up many threads regarding what to do about refitting CC to a Z with an aftermarket steering wheel. I have never liked the original wheel. One of the few things I dislike about the Z32 was its dated bus sized wheel. First I went down the route of looking into fitting the SRS equipped Zs CC stalk. This turned out to be a bit of a failed idea as, whilst researching and doing some measurements, found out that the SRS equipped Zs use a longer steering column with a different column shroud. Needless to say, none of it would have fitted unless I'd have swapped out the column. SOD THAT! I moved onto relocating the buttons that would have come with the old st…

My mate got a seat lean cupra 1.8t 20v with front mount intercooler, remap & induction kit, he's running at a guess 235bhp he wants to race me, should i waste some fuel, need to change my gear box oil as it crunches at very high rev's when i change gear its perfect when driving normal, any suggestions peeps, as tomorrow i'am gonna kill him on a quarter mile.

Hi my Z is fitted with a aftermarket boost gauge and was wondring does that measure the pressure from one or both turbo's, also i want to fit a dump valve & was wondering if i need one or two as the Z seem's to have 2 of everything lol.

The new engine is back in and the single turbo conversion almost finished but know the car won't start. Symptons There is no spark, I thought I had fuel but now not so sure as I have plugged in a spare CAS and turned it and the injectors aren't clicking. I am going to check the loom, PTU/CAS connections cleaned. I also changed the car loom with the fuse box, my guess would be something to do with that. So my questions are, which part of the car loom could affect the electrical running of the engine? Any other suggestions? Really want to get this conversion running so all help appreciated.
