Richie's "Blue Thunder" Build Thread!!
So, today I've refitted the OEM gear shifter, we dropped the front subframe to do the steering rack and it quickly spun out of control:innocent::whistling:, the lads realised they wouldn't be able to do the down pipes etc from below, so went Comanche and pulled the gearbox and engine out:punk:, we're still at it but they're not impressed that I only had 4 bolts holding the gearbox on:thumbdown: Finally out, started at 10am finished at 3.15pm, this morning I'd said we'd just swap the 2.5" down pipes to 3"s and leave the manifolds and GT525's for my other TT engine, now only 6 hours later, it's full steam ahead with the manifolds and turbo swap:dance::dance::dance:. Huge thanks to my brother Steve and his two mates, Ian and John, Ian for the loan of his garage and John for assisting the lads. Back to square 1, but at least it can be done right.

Evo 8 Big Brembo Kit
Gauging interest in another Evo Big Brake Kit. This one will come with freshly powdercoated and freshly rebuilt front and rear calipers with stainless bleeders, drilled and grooved 350mm discs in either black or silver coating (it wears off where the pad contacts) or you can get your own discs. It also includes the front brackets and bolts but not the rears and shipping to U.K. or Ireland.:thumbup1: The rear brackets can be got from Alpha-Omega Racing in Australia but they're not cheap. They have done plenty of research and with the full kit you get almost the same brake bias as the GTR 68:32. I can also get the 350mm rear discs required to make a full kit but that will be an extra £150 on top.

Richie's "Blue Thunder" Build Thread!!
Which turbo's Ali? the ones fitted already are rebuilt manual ones with 360* thrust bearings, the spare ones that the lads inspected are GT525's, they've only had 1K miles on them:thumbup1:

Richie's "Blue Thunder" Build Thread!!
Decided to paint my new one piece prop today as the lads at Driveshaft Repairs didn't do it, due to me sitting outside their door and not wanting to destroy my wife's outlander:thumbup: They said that my turbos are in good nick with one weeping a negligible amount of oil and the other is perfect. They said it was so little an amount that it wouldn't justify a €250 rebuild. What do you guys reckon?? Have the lift again this Saturday for the morning, jobs are to swap out my short shift to be replaced by my OEM one, remove the Hicas piping front/rear, refit my 1 piece prop, swap out the steering rack, pump and pas pot. The guys said they'll see about the manifolds and tubs when they've the rack out. I personally can't see it happening from underneath but I'll let them figure that out for themselves. I was thinking of just doing the 3" down pipes?? Would they be doable and I'll keep the manifolds and tubs for my other TT engine when it's built.

Making some changes?
Howard, is your car a LWB or SWB?? The PG system is for shorties only as far as I know.

Potential business expansion... potential Zed sale...?
I wouldn't sell your car though, as said, its advertising your business, you could (if you wished) put some sign writing on your back window to help advertise when you're driving around and at shows. Good reason to keep the car, another reason is the rise in value, 3rd reason is its relatively rare to find a factory TT manual :thumbup1::yes:

Potential business expansion... potential Zed sale...?
Dammit, just seen Grahams post, it took me 20mins to write the above as we have a new distraction in the house. Just like having kids again:biggrin:

Potential business expansion... potential Zed sale...?
The guy here in Carlow that was doing my Koenig seats, back in 2012 decided he was getting too much work for his premises (granny flat at side of house) he was doing motorcycle seats, cars, artic lorries, he even had one of those Yank Juggernauts in for a full retrim, did seats, curtains, dash, roof liner, even floor mats. Decided he had to go bigger and got a unit in 2013 /14 (can't remember) kitted it out, full cutting desks etc and lasted six months. I'm still trying to get my seats back:thumbdown: You have a good solid client base from here and other forums/clubs, you have a fairly regular income coming in with little overheads. I'd stay put mate, the other thing could be to get a decent sized garden shed (depending on size of garden) they can do all types of home office/sheds, insulated, wired etc that are flat packed for installation and removal, so this could be brought with you if you decided to move house:thumbup1:

Richie's "Blue Thunder" Build Thread!!
So, today I'm sitting patiently outside Driveshaft Services in Dublin, Ireland. Inside they are making me up a 1 piece propshaft and the guys said they'll inspect my GT525 turbos as a bonus while I'm here:thumbup:

manual TT to NA 1 piece propshaft info
Thanks for the help Jimmer, I've measured up the two pieces and got 1225mm also, I was just worried that the NA flange might have been different in length to the TT one. I'm sitting patiently waiting for it to be made here in Dublin:thumbup1:
