Sorry to hear your troubles. But maxing it and putting full strain on an unknown cambelt is really asking for it. The fact that it went the next day is probably beside the point - you did the belt damage doing 140 mph! I personally would go nowhere near those speeds until I had the car checked over - engine, drivetrain ,wheels you know all the the things that could shorten your life if they went wrong at speed. For all you know the car might not have gone over 70 mph in latter years if ever! Nothing wrong with those speeds - just make sure the car is safe!!! Mark

I had this problem for months - couldn`t find leak. Then changed both top and bottom rad hoses - no more leaks! Not saying this is your problem - just worth a thought. If hoses are any more than 6 or 7 seven years old they should be changed anyway. Mark

Yeah - have had to tell mechanics before about this one. Most of them dont know about having to bleed it in 2 places. Where Andy says - lift the bonnet - and there it is right in font of you - drivers side or offside wing.(It`s in the manual) Dead easy when you know where it is. Mark

Yeah I think there is some sense in this After blasting the turbos,which is virtually every run, I leave the engine running for about 5 mins, and as the cars usually in the garage I lift the bonnet and leave it for a while Dont half heat the garage up a treat - I find you dont need any heating in the garage in the winter! Now if I could find a way of getting the car into the lounge I could switch the heating off altogether! No wonder the electrics get so brittle Mark

Jeff He said a weld running across the sill! If I misunderstood I stand corrected. Does he mean the weld that runs top to bottom of the sill about 3/4 or 7/8 of way back from front of door? If so that ones normal. My fault again - usually is Mark

I knew it - I should never have handed that shotgun in at the last amnesty. You never use something for years then as soon as you get rid of it - you find you need it. Mark

The welds are not normal - well mine hasn`t got them! Could have had new sills , which is unusual. Or could have been accident damaged. Or could be two cars welded together!!:eek: If you are serious about the car I would get an expert to look at it before you buy. Also bear in mind that autos are generally less reliable than manuals and will cost more when they go wrong. So in short get somebody off the forum that lives near you to have a look and buy them some of their favourite drink!!:eek: Mark

What about all the foreigners that come here!! I can understand them wanting to come here and I dont have a problem with them being here - some very skilled and smart people. What I do object to is the moaning,complaining and general negativeness from many of them whilst they are here and many have been here years!
