Stuart If you mean the bolt like outlet just below the balance tube with a thin metal tube coming out of it - thats connected and goes to a T connector of a solenoid right next to the battery! Is that right? Andy The idle isn`t bad - a little erratic but I can live with that. You could well be right about pipes being wrong - trouble is I dont know anyone else in the area with a 300. I`ve tried to follow the vacuum pipe drawing but I seem to go round in circles. The vacuum pipe that feeds the sensor unit goes to the lower one of two metal tubes fixed to side of engine - comes out the other end and goes into what I think is the big inlet tube from the air filter. On mine (manual) there are 3 spaces I Transmission oil 2 Differential oil and the other one has naver shown anything! Mark

Just wondered if anyone knows much about how it works. Its the stock one - but don`t work in fact never has. There is plenty of boost as the car does 0-60 in 5 to 6 secs. The gauge itself works and the sensor unit that feeds it works as I have had a syringe on it and it goes + and - ok. Am I right in thinking that when engine is idleing gauge should read minus and when boosting should read positive? My gauge just stays in the centre. Have checked vacuum pipes and all the ones I can see seem to be connected ok. Has anyone ever come across this problem? No doubt something very simple but damn annoying when you can`t find it Cheers Mark

Thats always the trouble isn`t it You wont know whats going to go wrong till you buy it! Would it be reliable enough for a couple of months Then I could resell it and pay the loan back!!! Then again it could all be a disaster and cost loadsss If it cost me £35k and was ok would i be able to resell it?

I was thinking more like £35k I`ve still got the problem where to get the money!!! Could take a loan out I suppose. But would it really be practical to use - even occasionally? Perhaps nice for a couple of months Now the sun is here What do you reckon?

The 300zx failed on one item - Excessive play in rear steering- Anybody had any experience of this or know whats involved to fix it. Are there any bushes or wear items to replace? Any advice appreciated. Mark

Sub 4K? - youre talking a loss in value of approx 80-85%! In 12 years I would say thats a big drop and they will drop more! Longterm what other Nissans have increased in value. I think you will be very lucky to see prices going up. They will bottom out at spares only prices probably 1.5-2K Complexity and rarity if anything will make things worse they will be thought of as too expensive when they go wrong dont forget most people dont use sites like this. As far as calling something a classic is concerned - it doesn`t mean it will go up in value much - it just means a set of people or a magazine has decided to call it a classic. Re the NSX - I think they were about 55-60K in early 90`s getting on for twice the price of the 300ZX! so obviously they have further to fall.But you can buy them for less than a third of their original price - I have seen at least three advertised at about 18K and they have got plenty to drop yet! It will also be the same with the skylines - why wouldn`t they drop like all others have? You have to be realistic and buy/drive a particular car because you like it and hope it doesn`t cost you too much in the process If you want to hold onto or make money try housing - its safer. Mark

With a few exceptions all cars loose money from new. You dont buy any Jap car with the view to it increasing in value. Just look at any past Nissan/Datsun - all worth not alot. You can still buy a 240Z for about £5K Dont buy any Jap car if you want to hold on to your money. Buy a Porsche 911 or Ferrari 355 - keep it for a year or two and you will probably get most of your money back. Mark

No point in changing turbos until you have uprated exhaust and induction kit. Exhaust would be in the region of £500 Induction about £150-200 Mark

The connectors are available from Nissan - I got a set from courtesyparts.com.They dont have to be for a 300ZX I think all the Nissan plugs were very similar in the 90`s You really want the plugs/connectors prewired and then splice/solder them in place.I did most of mine and they are fine.
