PC boffins - Laptop gone desperately slow.
Sorry, haven't used windows at home in a while  and didn't realise you still had to defrag. Is defragging still a feature in Vista as well then?

Connecting xbox to the net questions?
It will probably work, but ultimately it won't be reliable in the slightest. it will depend if your filters are good or not. The bad link in the path from your 360/modem is the last DSL filter as you're trying to go through the 'telephone' side. That final 'telephone' side will be a low-pass filter, effectively filtering out any frequency above 26khz, ie. your upload and download frequencies on a DSL line. You can hope for a really badly built/designed filter which doesn't filter the higher frequencies very effectively. Lol. The best way to do it would be to take the cable that goes to your phone/tivo and wire it directly into the master socket (Not through the filter). That way you will have two lines that are unfiltered. You will then be able to put a filter where the laptop is and have Phone and DSL, and a filter where the Tivo is to have phone and DSL for the XBOX/modem

what oil is best to use for my zed
101 people will give you 101 different answers. Personally i use any Semi-Synthetic (last change i used Castrol Magnatec) 10W-40, as that is what it recommends in the owners manual. My car is totally stock. I can appreciate that people with modified cars go for different oils, but if 10W-40 was good enough for Nissan, then it's good enough for me.

how much petrol left when light comes on?
I've had the Z almost 3 years and every fill up has been with tesco 99. Never had a problem. Not even when they had contaminated petrol a while back. The car must have an iron stomach so to speak. LOL

PC recommendations
To be honest, if you're just doing the internet, Camera, MP3, office thing, you may as well just reinstall Windows. There's nothing wrong with your spec to do that. If nothing else, do that first and if you're still not happy, then upgrade. I've got an old laptop for the same situation. It's running XP on 500Mhz and 512Mb of RAM and runs perfectly well for the internet and office. Cheap as chips solution.

Should I get a non turbo 300zx?
A standard S14A is 197bhp and about 7.5sec to 60. So if you were happy with those figures then an auto NA Z in good condition will keep you happy as it'll be similar.

Window goes down not up
I had a problem last week with the electric windows. It may be a different fix as yours is the passenger window, but my drivers window would sometimes work fine, then it would suddenly just not go down. Then it would go down, but not back up again. My issue was down to the window amplifier assembly (Black box situated behind the door trim under where the arm rest would be). It had brittle solder contacts on the main connector. Resoldered them and job's a good 'un. No longer have the problem.

windows ce 5 embedded system
It won't be easy. We use WinCE 4.2.NET and 5 on our hardware (intel ARM) at work, and the OS is compiled specifically for our hardware. ie, you can't just upload any version of WinCE to it. It also depends on how the OS is stored. I should think the double din unit uses a flash rom, so if done incorrectly, it may be difficult to recover. It is possible to update/reflash the OS from a memory card, but you still need the exact original binary file of the OS. To be honest, there may be no easy way to do this as it will be pretty difficult to get a copy (of the OS). Your best bet is to speak to a proper tech guy (not a call center monkey) at the manufacturer of the hardware and see if they can help you. Failing that, try to find someone who has the same hardwae as you but has it in English.

windows ce 5 embedded system
Chances are you'll need a different version of CE with the language pack you want (English) and reflash the device. The device manufacturer would have compiled CE via an SDK and have different versions according to the region in which they are sold. Saves on liscensing, that type of thing. What device is it? If it's for a PDA or something, you may be able to get it from somewhere like GSM Forum or maybe Esato.

idling at 1500rpm when blower is on
My NA idles at about 700rpm normally and when the aircon is switched on, it goes up to about 900rpm. Switch it to eco, and it goes back down to 700rpm

You Tube - Downloading?
If you watch youtube in Internet explorer, IE caches the video to your "temporary internet files" folder. Just copy the video file from the said folder and rename it to anything you like, but use the extension .flv. Most new video players should play flv's.

Big brother has just moved in - next door !
Yup, i worked in Canada (Richmond) for a bit and some of the guys i was with were telling me about all the speed cameras that were installed years ago. A while after they were installed another political party stated that one of their policies would be to remove all fixed cameras if they were voted in office. Suffice it to say, i didn't see any fixed speed/safety cameras in all the time i was in Richmond. They do still use red light cameras and some mobile ones. It's also amazing that the stats for RTA's didn't seem to change before and after the cameras were installed. Like you say, it was all down to the voting public! Nobody seems to speed in Richmond anyway cause they have traffic lights every 200 yards anyway. Lol. On a side note, I did see at least 1 Z32 while i was there though, and a guy in my office had an immaculate Z31. I use the A14 every day and they've now got averaging cameras on there. That's a joke, you can't do any more than about 55mph, let alone break the 70mph limit! What a waste of cameras.

Anyone else got heated auto folding mirrors?
My mirror switch has 3 positions - open (rocker switch forward), close (rocker switch back) and the third doesn't seem to do anything (rocker switch in middle)

Yep, chances are it's the series 1 that's gone. It'll be in the same location (front left cam cover) but it's silver and about 3-4 inch square.

Christ 3G is quick!
Yep, can be pretty quick. I use 3G HSDPA as my home internet. It's all very much dependent on your location and weather conditions. On a bad day, it'll drop down to ISDN speeds.
