New Website - Thoughts and Comments
I’m having problems with the new posts function. I have always used the forum where it shows me all the latest posts without having to navigate through each individual forum. It seems this is possible by clicking the button at the top of the screen which default loads Unread Content. I see the filters and have saved them as a new stream but I can’t see any way to load this by default, or even to select it afterwards?

What did you do to your zed today?
For every NEC show that I’ve attended, my Z has been decontaminated and on lockdown in the garage for a super mega detail for weeks before the show! Not this year, I haven’t had time to do anything with it and today I found myself at a loose end. My initial thought was to go for a turbo spruce up but having walked into the garage and seeing it looking pretty clean from it’s pre-MOT wash, I closed the garage door and walked away! Instead, I decided to spruce up the club welcome mat for the stand! This is going to take a while!

What did you do to your zed today?
I managed to find a lucky spot in the weather today to sneak the Z out for an MOT ready for the NEC at the weekend.

Antifreeze
The book says 10 litres, Jim might be able to shed light on it but whenever I do mine it doesn’t usually take quite that much as it’s hard to get it all out! I used to use distilled water as it seemed like the right thing to do but now I just use tap water and save the distilled water for my detailing concoctions! The antifreeze has all the appropriate chemicals in to counter any nasties in the tap water.

Antifreeze
In general, I’d say any reputable antifreeze/coolant that’s ethylene glycol based and as Jim says, a 50/50 mix.

Light Pod Bracket
For info, the seals on the bootlid that run along the back are in 2 separate pieces with a gap in the middle to put your hand in and lift up the bootlid.

That is very slick on my phone, I’d happily ditch Tapatalk for that.

Front Number plate size
Your car really does look epic with those headlights, that was a good move! One of the things I’m not keen on with them is that they highlight the projector housing being slightly lower than the reflector which can make it look a bit googly eyed(!), but the headlamp washers on the UK cars seem to mask and correct this to the point where it not noticeable.

Front Number plate size
You don’t have to stick to a standard size, if you want your border to be even all the way round, just specify that when you order. I would recommend fancyplates.com for this service, you can just tell them what your want and they will custom make it to your needs. Print this document and keep it in your glove box if you do get stopped or questioned by an MOT tester: http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2002/2687/made On the fancy plates order system in the comments you can give a detailed remark of what you’re after. If anything is unclear they’ll contact you to double check. You want to specify the standard UK font, 64x44mm characters, 10mm stroke, 10mm spacing, 5mm spacing top and sides to the edge and 13mm at the bottom. It does say that the vertical group spacing should be 5mm as it “assumes” that the plate will be constructed across 2 lines, however it does not specify that it has to be across 2 lines and doesn’t give a horizontal group spacing. That’s why I have my J30LYP without spacing as I would argue it on interpretation!

Time to tackle all the jobs I did not want to do
Bitter sweet eh! Take it easy Tony, the light is getting brighter. [emoji362]

Front Number plate size
It’s a bit of a grey area really. The regulations have an amendment which gives an alleviation to import vehicles with apertures that preclude a standard UK plate from being fitted; for example a Z32 rear plate due to the recess. This is where the 64mm figure you’re thinking of came from (it states all the required dimensions due to the restricted space available). Whilst this is not technically the case for the front but you will likely never have an issue with the front and rear matching. If you stick within these guidelines then you can prove that you’re displaying within the regulations, however with 55mm characters you’re pushing it!

Indicators
This is a common problem with the hazard switch not fully returning to its ‘off’ detent, which inhibits the indicators. It often doesn’t look like anything is wrong and just needs a slight wiggle back towards the driver. It’s usually caused by the hazard switch mounting point inside the pod failing, causing the switch to track in and out at a slightly misaligned angle, getting stuck in its slot. It’s an easy fix with either a brand new pod or a repair kit.

Hello from The Netherlands!
That does look a bit deformed. No, the front bumpers are all the same. The only variations are between N/A and TT (TT also has its own variations between JDM/EUDM etc but N/A are the same regardless of wheelbase or roof type).

Hello from The Netherlands!
I’m fairly sure that no one produces an aftermarket replica/pattern front bumper for these cars, even in the US. I would pay particular attention to the structure around the mounting points that you’re having trouble lining up as it may have had a small bump in the past that has bent something back slightly. Also, all you need is an N/A front bumper to replace your original as they’re all the same regardless of 2+0, 2+2, convertible and targa top etc.

Lego rocks! Has anyone got the Porsche 911 GT3 RS Lego kit? The big, expensive, orange one? If you have, there are instructions available for a 240z conversion!

I remember that white Z from the pic on your wall, that was a lovely example. Who was the guy that owned it again?
