Standard Radiator Cap Pressure?
After jumping to conclusions in my last thread, I took the radiator cap off the other day to check if any coolant was missing. While doing this I though to myself that given how much they cost, perhaps it would be a good idea to replace it with a new one. I've spent a bit of time on Google etc. and I'm under the impression that the standard cap pressure is 1.2 bar - however the one fitted to mine is only 0.9 - judging by the numbers stamped on it... Are any of the resident Zed gurus able to confirm what the correct pressure for the radiator cap is? I would like to double check before I buy one and find out that they vary by model/year or there is some other factor that I'm overlooking. My car is a 92 TT Auto (now manual) Thanks all!

Bet you can't wait to get this back in your car. Any idea when you'll be getting it back?

Consult 14 Pin DDL Interface problem
I'm not convinced that will work. OBD is a completely different protocol to the Consult protocol used by Nissan when the Z32 was built. However, I should stress that I haven't tried using one of these adapters, so maybe someone who has can come along and prove me wrong? I have the above cable from Horsham Developments and it works great. I'm on my second cable as I sold my first one when I got rid of my first Zed. At the time I didn't think I'd be getting another one... As diagnostic cables go it's reasonably expensive (although I've paid more for others) and works fine with both my laptop and my mobile phone!

Looks awesome. Almost a shame to hide it inside an engine bay.

Testing my patience...
Yeah, I've been doing some digging - trying to get an idea of where it could be coming from. Have also found myself looking at this pump. To be honest I completely disregarded the washer system given that the only bottle is located in the boot, and Jimmer managed to replace the duff pump and get the jets working on Monday. Didn't occur to me that there may be a hose, let alone a secondary pump, lurking in that area of the car. Plan for Saturday is drop the arch liner and see if I can see exactly where the leak is coming from. This is assuming I can't see anything under the bonnet. Moral of the story, don't jump to conclusions where the Zed is concerned. Thanks everyone for the suggestions and pointers. Been a big help

Testing my patience...
Wasn't very pleasant. Starting to think it may be washer fluid...

Testing my patience...
Just came across this diagram which suggests the windscreen washer hoses are in the area where I can see the leak. This would be a massive relief!

Testing my patience...
Thought it looked more blue than green. Was parked in the same place the other day when the AC was on and that was dripping further back on the passenger side - so I don't think it's the condenser... Come to think of it - the washer fluid is blue. Perhaps a windscreen washer hose is cracked?

Testing my patience...
Being a shorty the washer bottle is in the boot. I discovered this the morning of my MOT when i realised the windscreen washer jets were not working.

Testing my patience...
I went to my garage today to collect a few things when i noticed this... Unfortunately I didn't have my car keys so i couldn't investigate further. The only thing i know at this stage is that it's definitely coolant. :pinch:

Auto to Manual conversion
£850 pricey? More or less what I paid (for the used bits) of my conversion. Have seen manual conversions advertised for £1000 plus. Don't think that's too bad a price depending on how much you know about the box.

Do you mind me asking how much they stung you for? I'm thinking of ordering one from Z1 soon.

By standard do you mean unmodified or do you mean an NA?

Z32 Automatic Transmission - Very low mileage
Genuine low mileage automatic gearbox. Removed from a 1992 twin turbo which had less than 21,000 Km on the clock (13,000 miles) when the box was removed. The car has JEVIC certificate to back-up that the mileage is genuine. The gearbox was running fine with no issues before it was removed from my car. Gear changes were nice and smooth and the fluid was a nice bright colour. Only reason it was removed was because i went ahead with a manual conversion. Also included is the torque converter and the wiring loom which is attached to the box – with all the connectors/plugs intact. Any questions please ask. Collection from Bristol is preferred.

bristol classic car show
Thanks for the heads up. As much as I would love to take the Zed, it's not going anywhere until I get it into Jimmer's. Still, should be a nice day out if I can make time for it.

Wasn't aware that this was happening. I may try and make an appearance - although I'm not sure which day.

I'm going to hold off for the moment as I have a large stack of parts that I need to put to use before I go buying anything else. :thumbup1:

Auto to Manual conversion
I came across this place when i was looking at parts for a manual conversion. https://www.torqen.uk/nissan/350z/powertrain/ancillaries/7862-350z-de-torqen-upgraded-heavy-duty-clutch-fork-kit-for-2003-models-only-30531-cd000-fk-z33.html I never dealt with them but they appear to be based in the UK and may be worth looking into. Should also stress that i cannot say 100% that this is what you need, so please double-check. I ended up ordering a whole bunch of stuff (including the up-rated fork and pivot ball) from Concept Z Performance before Easter, which is yet to arrive... :glare:

Manual conversion shopping list & clutch recommendations
Evening all. I picked up the majority of the parts needed for a manual conversion this weekend and now i’m after a bit of advice. First of all, which parts should be replaced with new components. I’ve made the following list but could do with knowing if i missed something… Pilot Bushing OEM Manual Transmission Front & Rear Seal Clutch Slave Cylinder Upper & Lower Rubber Dust Boot On top of this, I’m also considering the following upgrades so if anyone has any comments that would be grand. Uprated (350Z) clutch fork (with chromoly pivot ball) Z1 oil impregnated bronze shifter bushings Z Speed solid shifter with boot kit Nismo Transmission Mount Finally, the conversion came with a used OS Giken clutch/flywheel combo which, according to the owner, had been on the car for around 8 years. I’m not sure about fitting it to my Zed so if anyone has any recommendations - or knows how to tell if a triple plate clutch is worn then i’m all ears. My Zed is completely standard and while i may look to mod it in the future, i’m never going to be chasing big power! Thanks :)

Lowest Mileage Z32 in the UK?
I didn't do the cam belt but know it has been done since it was imported. Call me paranoid but don't think I'd even try and start a car if I thought the belt was 20 years old! I'd encourage you to get the belt changed unless you have proof it has been replaced in the last 3-4 years. My advice would be to speak to Jimmer at Powerzed, based in Bristol. He's regarded by many as the best Zed mechanic in the country. He can give you a quote to replace the cam belt and advise you of any other maintenance that may be required given the age of the car.

Locked out of car. :(
Can someone PM this to me please. I managed to lock my keys in the car this weekend. If there is a way to get in without causing any damage then would have saved me a whole load of faffing around as my spare key was at home.

Welcome to the club. Interesting question regarding mileage. Mine is around 21K (approx. 13k miles).

It may be worth taking a look at the ECUTalk website as you may be able to use their driver? I'm far to tired to think to think to hard about it, but if i was trying the 'throw everything at it and see what works' approach i'd give this a try... https://www.ecutalk.com.au/interface.aspx
