headlight aiming controll
Because of the norwegian law. If you have xenon lights you need to be able to adjust the light beam and have a switch inside of the car and you also need headlight washers. phuttumsch: I belive they are just for manually adjusting the light.

warm engine - hood vents
A bit more than 4 bolts. Also have to paint the bonnet. That is lot more expensive then a pair of holes in the bonnet. Joely p: I live south in Norway, nearby a town called Kristiansand.

warm engine - hood vents
I do not have an overheating problem when driving normally. But if I was to take the car to the track I think some vents would help a lot. Better to be on the safe side. Just with normal driving it gets so hot in the engine bay that it's not possible to touch anything before it cools down a bit. Found some vents on ebay that I think could be ok on the 300: http://www.ebay.com/itm/08-09-10-11-BMW-E90-E92-E93-M3-GTS-MATTE-BLACK-HOOD-SURROUND-VENTS-/360459585258?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item53ed10c6ea&vxp=mtr#ht_2077wt_1270

warm engine - hood vents
Water should not be a problem if you place the vents beside the engine and also not directly above the turbo/manifolds.

warm engine - hood vents
Hi I am wondering about buying some hood vents. (GTR vents) I have a problem that the engine gets a bit hot when the weather is warm. I don't have the platsic shield under the engine anymore. Could this cause the hot engine problem that the hot air gets pressed up during driving?

backfire problem
The car is a manual and I think the diff and gearbox have sa shared oil cooler at the back somewhere around the rear wheels. I would just like to know if that rear cooler is necessary?

backfire problem
found the problem. bad gasket on the turbo. and some other small stuff like bov that had rustet shut and one open. ooohhh, and air comming from the small hole in front of the gearbox. Need to get that fixed before tuning the car. Not looking forward to it :( By the way. Is the oilcooler on the gearbox of any use? Do I need it? (can't be any good after 22 years)

Nistune tuner
I have instaled nistune in my car and had it to PBZ in sweden for tuning. NOT satisfied. He couldn't get it to work right. Said that nistune just stopped when he pushed the car on the dyno and that the safc2 was causing problem with nistune. He was more interestted in selling me haltech. I need to have my car tuned on fuel and E85. I have a fuel map from the ash-spec chip I had. Anyone know of a good tuner that CAN use nistune? I live in norway so the shorter the better and price also matters.

Oil??
I've tried 10-40, 5-40, 0-40, 10-60. 40 grade tend to become hot fast. Like when you drive or have driven the car. Can qickly go up to 100 degress or more. 60 take a lot more time before it becomes hot like 40. The temp is more stable than the 40 grade. For a stock engine og chiped (14psi) then grade 40 would be fine. For a more modifided engine (bigger turbo, injectors etc) then I'd try grade 50 og 60.I will try grade 50 next time. 60 took to long to reach a good temp. (good for track driving tough)

backfire problem
No manual conversion. It is and have always been a manual TT. Spark plugs... always a question... Done some web searching and every site that sells plugs for the 300 seems to recommend the iridium plugs. It's only Z1 that still sells the standar spark plugs. I'm leaning towards iridium and heat range 8. Any reason I shouldn't Short Spec: Nismo 615cc GT600R turbo Boost: 1 on gasoline (ash-spec download with nistune from old chip). 1.2bar on e85 (422rwp) Need to map the gasoline so proberly going up on boost there too. and other supporting specs

backfire problem
Going to buy new plugs to see if it helps. got ngk iridium heat range 7. Maybe I should try 8 since it's e85?

backfire problem
Thanks for article Tudor. Checked timming and it was 15 ad idle (750-800rpm, 80-90 engine temp) Changed to stock fpr. Made no difference. Checked Maf and seems fine. Next step changing back to the old serie 1 ptu...

backfire problem
The turbos is fine. This backfire problem happened after i replaceed coils, ptu, fpr and fuel filter. I'll check the timming as soon as the shop opens on monday. (Don't trust the old one. Worked kinda last time I checked the timming. So though I should recheck the timming, Nothing. So buying a new one) And I'll se if I can find the old FPR and test that too. And check the MAF of course and get back to you all. Appreciate the help :)

backfire problem
aftermarket fuel pressure regulator. now adjusted to 2.6-2.7 kg/cm2 at idle. Helped a bit. Have another problem to. Don't know if it is revelent. When I just toutch the speed the car almost stalls/dies then jumps back up again to normal. A bit difficult to make still starts because of this.

backfire problem
I have installed new splitfire coils. New serie 2 ptu and fuel pressure regulator and new stainless fuel filter (40 micron) I have a problem with misfire that starts at about 4000rpm at full throttle. The fuel pressure is at just above 3 kg/cm2 at idle. could the coils be bad?

vacum cap
When i removed aiv and so on I used some vacum cap's made of rubber. When I parked the car for the winter and did a vacum check I noticed that some of the caps had been destroyed. (partly disintegrated). Any one know where I could get high quality caps. Maybe silicone caps??

fuel filter
Thank you. I bough a aremotive 40 micron stainless fuel filter beacause I have one map for ethanol and one for fuel. Can't use paper filter with ethanol.

fuel filter
Don't need a new stock. I'm going to replace it with a stainless one. Found 40 micron stainless, but I want to know if that is better or worse then the original one...
