well unless your moving the contacts INSIDE the PTU that are broken, which was the case with mine. ps I opened mine up & re-soldered for a temp repair while i got a new one

I agree with chris, the TT is very cheap & easy to tune (to start with!) im at around 400 bhp now, its cost me very little to do but the performance increase is HUGE!!

i wouldnt recommend a secondhand ptu, these things have a finite life and are fairly cheap from courtesy anyway ($150 iirc)

the problem is that youre taking the cats out to reduce back pressure - thats the whole point in decatting!! the size of the pipes is largley irrelevant, you risk your turbos blowing oil from the rear seals & smoking.

thats the PTU, or ignition amplifier. & yes it could cause a misfire or even cause the car to cut out. try cleaning the connectors first, otherwise you may need a new one. if thats the case then get it from courtesy in the states. far cheaper.

I drove one many years back. one came into a garage i was working at. WOW a delorean!! I thought who put that shitty renault/volvo/whatever V6 in there!? i screamed!! :D

just swapped my 1.2mm jets for 1mm ones. boost peaks at around 16-17 psi then drops back to 15psi. took it for a run & boy does it fly!:D 160mph & backed off cos i got scared!! :o (on an mates private test track) id like to keep it at this boost but i know its a little too high! need to get some 1.1mm welding tips but couldnt find any available when i got them. & yes i know i should have a ebc but i cant afford one right now. :rolleyes:

welcome dave :cool: cleaning your tb's is the 1st step to take, while your doing it disconnect the battery for at least 30 mins to reset the ecu. also clean the electrical connectors on the tps (n/s tb), ptu (front of o/s timing cover), cas (other timing cover),temp sensor & coils as these can corrode the terminals with age. the ecu also has on board diagnostics which you can check to see if there are any other faults. all of the above is very easy to do, just get some carb cleaner for the tb's & electrical contact cleaner for the connections.
