Miles out of rear tyres?
Trouble with too much rear toe is when the wieght comes off one wheel, the other wheel will try to make the rear of the car turn. mine too had over 1.5 deg toe on the rear wheels when i checked it
-
clutch thrust bearing?
a clutch release bearing will make a noise when the clutch pedal is depressed. if the noise goes when the pedal is depressed its prob in the gearbox, more than likely the primary shaft bearing, as this is what you are stopping from turning when you press the clutch.

Bbbbrrrrrrr
Yup, mines lovely with those seat heaters on! mmmmmmmmmm seat heaters. :D

buying a dual pop
well that is the problem danny, the dual cone in front of the afm will flow more air than a single cone, but the afm is the limiting factor after that.

How many miles has your Z done?
just clicked over 90k miles the other day
-
performance difference
thats cos it was de-tuned to keep to the agreed 280bhp jap limit ;)

performance difference
hey, if your gonna quote me then at least put the smilie on the end of my statement that i used! :p :p :p Paul Newman had a dig at high running costs for a TT, I had a dig back for lack of performance. lighten up  jeesh! but while were on the subject (& all imho) I also dont know why they made a 1.3 capri, reliant robins, sinclair c5's, tinned peaches or squeezy cheese. & if they made a 4 cyl Lambo, that would prob appeal to a wider market as well, but should they make one?? hell no (again imo) i dont think im ignorant just for having an opinion, especially when as i said it, it was light hearted fun anyway. :D

Boost gauge
autometer "Z" series (what else!! :D ) is what I got from smithy
-
Boost gauge
think i paid around £50 for a gauge, & the same for a replacement a pillar trim with holder. speak to smithy.

buying a dual pop
unless you are talking about the JWT type dual pop charger, designed to have 1 cone per bank, the afm is relocated on 1 side of the engine & the chip then has to be reprogrammed to suit.

You're all going mad !
oi!! I was just about to ask those very questions!!!:D
-
performance difference
how na owners can keep spouting about repair/maintenance being far lower is beyond me im afraid! the only difference is the turbos! no maintenance costs attached, and how often do they really go? mine are 9 years old & done 90k miles afaik, same as the rest of the car! i think a couple on here have done 130/140k miles without probs. & if they do go, 2 new uprated hybrids cost about £1k i think smithy told me. not cheap, but not the end of the world. but lets face it, the reason most of us buy these things is for the performance not great economy! buy a micra if you want good economy!:D i dont really know why nissan bothered even thinking about making a n/a 300!! :p

Correct decat pipe
Look, if you de-cat you reduce exhaust back pressure. thats the point of doing it!! if you have a performance rear section, then thats gonna reduce back pressure even more. got it? good!
-
Correct decat pipe
ahhhhhhhh, i see now, you need a special "back pressure valve" !! :D

new zed
Hi hoppy, have fun in your motor & may she always be shiney side up :D

starter/flywheel problem
I fitted a fidanza flywheel to mine, the only thing i would say is the centre of the flywheel is a very tight fit over the crank to allow for different expansion rates of an alloy flywheel over a steel one when it gets hot. the instructions stated to carefully scrape away any excess material or heat up on a warming plate before installation to ensure it sits flat on the crank.

Turbo's
and how would you do that exactly?? without removing the turbo?? hmmm?? the turbo bolts onto the manifold, the gasses flow past into the downpipes. how would you re route the gasses? this im interested to hear ;)

missfire
depends what you call easy! you have to cut open the back of it, inside you will see fine silver wires soldered to the board, give each one a gentle tug with tweezers, on mine one of the end earth contact wires had come off. i soldered in a piece of wire in its place (its easier than trying to solder the origional) oh, & theres a nasty gel around them you need to clean off. then just fix the back on again with some sealant.
