PTU fix Det sensor BYPASS :)

the PTU fails internally - theres a "fix" on andyp's site which worked for me. basically you cut open the rear of the PTU, on mine, 1 of the contacts had broken causing it to cut out when warm & the contacts expand. i soldered a wire in its place which cured it for me. I still replaced it with the new modified type from Courtesy Nissan, but it got me by for a week :) code 34 means theres a fault in the det sensor circuit - not that your getting detonation. it puts you in safety boost as it has no way of detecting whether you do have detonation or not. you can check the circuit out with the resistor "fix", but wouldnt leave it in as the ECU still has no way of detecting detonation & will still run at full boost/advance

no, regardless of any external leaks on the turbo, you cant check the rear seal without dismantling. & theres no seal as such to replace anyway - it would just be wear in the turbo casing/shaft itself

Ok, from 92 on the cat test was introduced from 1/8/92 -> 1/8/95, an EXACT match must be found in the emissions database to do a cat test. if no match is found a non-cat test is performed. (3.5% co 1200 ppm HC) after 1/8/95 a default cat test is done regardless of make & model got the latest emission book in front of me now, 100NX is in it 200SX is in it 350Z is in it R33 & R34 skylines are in it 300ZX Z32................................. wait for it................................. NOT IN IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so..................... under the new tests, a BET test is done, if it fails that then an EXACT MATCH must be found, or it is tested as a non-cat vehicle.

what vehicle have they tested it as on the printout?? the Zed is NOT in the emissions database, & is therefore tested as a non cat vehicle. after 95 a default cat test is done unless its recently been added. ill check & repost! ;)

when converting to R134a you only put 80% of the origional R12 gas in to maintain system pressure

some more urban myths!! front no plates that are smaller than standard size are only permitted on import vehicles where a standard UK plate will not fit!. a UK plate will still physically fit so its still illegal to fit a smaller one. I for one would never do such a thing ;) :D
