do an ecu diagnostic & see if you've got code 34 (det sensor), this will put your car into permenant safety boost. does it make any difference when the engine is cold/hot??
  10. well if the head gasket had blown, you would expect some sort of coolant loss - thats what you thought the white smoke was!! a cylinder leakage test is a very useful diagnostic tool. bring the cylinder up to TDC on the compression stroke, the cyl leakage tester then goes in the spark plug hole & the cyl is pressurised with comressed air (CL tester plugd into a compressor!), the "leakage" of air is then measured. air coming out of the exhausts indicates exhaust valves not seating, out of the TB's is inlet valves excessive pressure from the oil filler cap is rings/bores (slight blow by is normal) & finally, if you get bubbles in the coolant, or the coolant gets dumped all over your feet - head gasket failure!!
  11. :xxx: :nono:
  12. do you have coolant loss?? a compression test would be a start, but a cylinder leakage test would be better
  13. 99% do tho, slick tops are very rare, as are convertables ;)
  14. got goodyear eagle f1's listed at 79.50+vat z rated. pirelli p6000 £70.45 (v rated) avon zz3 £67.10 (w rated) or nexen n2000 £33 each  (& no thats not what iv got on mine!! :x: )

if the boost is up, it could be the plugs are in poor condition, higher boost levels require a stronger spark. as everyone else has also said - check to see if the ecu is socketed & running an aftermarket chip. 14psi is way too high for standard IMO

    me too :)
  18. doesnt sound good mate, tho someone recently had a spun shell which looked a mess, but the crank wasnt too bad IIRC, if youve caught it in time, it may just need re-shelling & poss crank grind. you need to get someone to listen to it - dont drive it any more!!! :(
  19. stu - took me about 2 1/2 hrs, but that was because one of the anti-roll bar bolts was siezed & snapped off in the chassis :( had to drill & tap it out. eddie - replaced with standard ones from Courtesy, was gonna go for poly ones, but they had no stock & said it could be a couple of months before thay could get them in! TBH, the suspension still feels the same, just without that bloody annoying creak!! :)
  20. i know a few have got creaky front suspension, mines been doing it for a while too, finally got round to fixing it yesterday, been bugging me for ages! :hyper: i think most of mine was down to the front anti-roll bar bushes. replaced these, also removed the top arms & tension rods, cleaned & lubricated the fixing bolts with copper ease spay. all quiet now :hyper:
