  1. Ajay - are they both stock OEM Nissan? Cheers - Gio
  2. How completely fecking irritating. Sorry to see that, mate - there's been too much of this recently. Grrr.
  3.
  4. Hi mate - where in Slough are you getting the suspension sorted? I only ask because I spent days on the phone trying to find a competent place and failed bigtime. If you've found a good place, that would be handy. Cheers - Gio
  5. NIce one chaps. I thinkI am going for 99 spec after all - and with the UK size plate in the "normal" place. I did some mockups so thought you'd like to see them. (this isn't the "correct" positioning but it happens to be where mine is) I Think that this could look quite nice but don't have the expertise. Could be even more fun if you had a little flip up mechanism and usually have the plate lying flat in the bottom of the bumper - then when you see the boys in blue, flick a switch and there's your plate back again! Anyhoo - thanks for all your help, guys - it's got me off the fence at last (I think  ). Cheers - Gio

"Hi Celine, why the long face?"
  7. 30? hah! Hip pup hpy bththday - young whippersnapper. Cheers - Gio
  8. Ahaaaa (insert Alan Partridge whine here) Thanks Andy. James, could you measure the number plate mount if I asked nicely? I had been thinking about how to position the number plate. If you have a UK size one, do you position it so a bit sticks up and a bit sticks down? Or have the top edge of the plate aligned with the top of the mount so it sticks down only. Or go deano's route and have small letters and a plate the size of the mount (i.e. quite small). Or even mount it at the bottom of the orifice pointing up like the Jag XK8 http://www.roberthughes.co.uk/xk8coupe.htm http://www.studio9kc.co.uk/jaguar%20xk8.htm but this would take someone handy with a urethane file so I don't think I'll bother. (Unless there's a photoshop guru out there?) I also worked out what I was being reminded of when I saw the new bumper. Not dissimilar to this: sort of. Cheers - Gio
  9. Ah, didn't know that. Yes please a pic of the bumper as it arrives (eg before the numberplate has been fitted) would be very interesting. You learn something new every day. And sometimes, on this forum, effing shedloads! Cheers - Gio
  10. Thank y'all. Isn't it strange how quality can vary from job to job? I'm quite prepared to believe (having seen examples) that both can do good work but also clearly there have been problem jobs. Hmmmmmm perhaps I should just toss a coin! Cheers - Gio
  11. Thanks - all good stuff. Deano sent me a bunch of pics of his silver one from several angles and I have come to two conclusions and a question. Should the mesh be in silver or matt black? The thing that worries me most is numberplate position. It just doesn't look right - even small letters. I want the JDM one when I'm pissed and the stock one when I'm sober! :D Cheers - Gio
  12. Blimey - you're right. I hadn't read that far before. Given all the other references - and the real world example right at the bottom of that page - I guess they made a mistake. Might be worth asking them or the legal eagles of the RAC or whatever breakdown you're with? Good luck - Gio
  13. Actually, I should also say that I really like the DTA logo and the general clean, uncluttered, modern look of the site. It's nice and stylish. IMHO. Cheers - Gio
  14. A couple of points, Danny. I am not a proper web designer so just a personal opinion. I don't like sites which ask me to click on a logo to enter a site. I just typed the url in my browser (or clicked on a link from elsewhere) so of course I wanted to visit the damn site - why are you asking me to click again? Just show me the site... (And to all you clever people who put a nice big flash movie in the way of me visiting your site - just don't. It wastes my time and wastes my bandwidth.) 2nd - frames are one way of laying out a site but they make passing links to other people impossible. They also work against the robots which index sites for search engines. eg can you give me a link to your contact details page? You can either give me http://www.dta-motorsport.co.uk/index2.htm and then you have to tell me to click on a specific menu item. Or you can give me http://www.dta-motorsport.co.uk/contact.htm which doesn't have the menu on the left. I found this out the hard way with my site which I haven't got round to re-doing yet. To contrast, have a look at http://www.beyondsl.net which was done with Dreamweaver, has a menu area at the left and has unique urls for each page. HTH - Gio
  15. Danny, Bill Gates is the spawn of the devil. I've used about 6 of the low end shareware html coders (Amaya, 1st Page 2000, Bulletproof, Topstyle, AceHTML etc) and even Notepad. I just converted to Dreamweaver and while it isn't perfect, it's streets ahead of anything I've tried so far. You can design pages in design view and still get underneath to tweak the code if you want. It validates your html - that is, checks it works and complies with standards unlike that bog-awful front page. Best of all, it includes an ftp client so once you've got your site working on your local PC, just do "synchronise" and lo and behold there you are. Robert is the relative of your choice. I've got a free 30 day trial on a CD (net mag issue 112) or they might have one you can download directly. The downside is that if you get hooked on it, it's about £300 to buy. But if it saves you one day's work wrestling with your site..... If you want to validate pages directly, you can do so at http://validator.w3.org/ Cheers - Gio
  16. The link I gave you above seems pretty clear. There is no mention of "working days". The 14 day limit is stated in the law itself - and it would be impossible to agree what "working days" means unless they specifically said what days. And they don't. In the link above, they also have links to solicitors so why not give them a bell?
  17. True - but there is a charge for taking money out of a PayPal account as well. http://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=p/gen/fees-outside IMO we should offer cheque (cash if you like) and something like PayPal or Fastpay. Members can choose the payment method which suits them. If they want to pay the 20p to send from their FastPay to the club's that's their choice. They can spend an envelope and a 26p stamp to send you a cheque if they prefer. Or use the petrol to get it to you at a meet. Cheers - Gio
  18. http://www.speed-trap.co.uk/FAQ/FAQ.htm These guys also think its 14 days plus a couple so call it 17. Unless you were driving someone else's car. Always best to check the facts and speak to a brief before taking on the boys in blue. Good Luck - Gio
  19. Smart Shane, ta - I usually remember to check Luke's site but forgot this time. D'oh. Paul C - damn. The look changes depending on the angle, doesn't it. Looks very nice on yours. I saw AndyP's last year and thought that's nice. Then I saw the yellow one on AndyP's site and thought it looked even nicer. Now I have to make up my own mind for my own car - errrrr tilt. I think the stock looks very suited to the Z especially if the black matt strip gets put back. The 99 spec looks (from some angles) a bit like a gaping hole (I am exaggerating to illustrate the point). So I had just about persuaded my self to put the stock back on. Then Mike F persuaded me that it looks really nice and along comes Deano's and Paul C's which do. Ah well, p'raps some red wine tonight will help me decide (fat chance!). It looks as if the 99 spec improves airflow through both rad and intercoolers - does it or is it just optical illusion? Cheers - and thanks, guys - Gio
  20. Used to be on a big black Merc SL somethingorother. Belonging to, IIRC Steve Parrish bike racer extraordinaire. I last saw it after a race meeting at Thruxton just before the M3 starts with Stavros at the side of the road talking to the boys in blue. According to MCN at the time, he was done under the Obscene Publications Act hahahahaha cute even if not true ;)

Was she dropping off a bloke or a bird? Guess 1) She was supposed to be out all day in town but forgot her purse so she took the tube back home. To discover her other half getting a bit of lunchtime delight with a third party. She threw the third party out and drove hubby back to work in hubby's car as she was leaving to go to mother's to think things out. As she was dropping hubby off, she though f*ck it and crashed hubby's car. Next?
  22. Nice one gents - ta. Just what I wanted to know. Which you don't always get on this forum! :) If you could e-mail a pic from straight on - if there is one, that's be very nice indeed. I still can't decide on between the anally-retentive keep it stock or the go on it looks nice why don't you. Yours on the fence - Gio PS Deano - I'd look after it for you. Very reasonable rates, only a tenner a week!
  23. Ta, Mac (hahahaha - always wanted to say that :D "Ta Mac" Geddit? Oh well, please yerselves!)
  24. Thanks guys - very helpful. Andy - your vents aren't standard, are they? (The ones just in front of the wheels.) And is there a kit for mounting the plate or just make-it-up-as-you-go-along? Thanks again - Gio (still sitting on the bloody fence)
