Motocross Training :D :D
From memory, I think it might have been a KDX200 enduro - which had a little storage section on the rear mudguard. Not a full-on KX MX'er as you say.

My letter to the editor of jap performance magazine
If you waste time writing a complaining letter to an editor, mostly they just think "OK if you know so much, why don't you start your own magazine". So don't waste your breath / time / electrons. If you write an article or letter about how great your car is, you might stand a chance of getting it published. The last time we did this, we got a buyers guide to the 300ZX in J Perf. If you can't be arsed to do that, read Legrath's words and learn. And maybe just write a nice letter asking for more coverage of your favourite car. After all, how much effort do you put in to responding to people who post here saying this forum is crap? So don't expect magazine editors to do anything else when you say their mag is crap... Make nice noises to them and guess what?

Motocross Training :D :D
When I joined the big K, I asked the boss of Team Green what the storage hump in the seat of a KX something-or-other was for and he said "that's where motocrossers put their brains before the race" hehe :D

side repeaters
The interesting thing is whether or not the existing indicators at the front count as "a wraparound lens" and if so, can an adaptation be done. Personally, I would want any direction signal on my car to be as clear and unambiguous as possible - don't give the other b*ggers any excuse for the "sorry mate I didn't see you" :)

Turbo seal question
Just to be pedantic, the molecules themselves will only become very very slightly larger. The main effect is that hot air becomes less dense as the energy of the molecules mean they zap around a lot more. The colder something is, the less the molecules move and the gas gets more dense. More dense = more molecules in a given volume which does what you said :D

Nissan Data Scan Software
oooh interesting. But as far as I can see, the ConZult is better? Oh, you said that already! I am sure these guys would reply positively if someone wanted to buy and couldn't have a PayPal account. Oh, you said that too! :D Oh and if you follow the link in the NZ site which one of your links goes to, there is even a free version of the software. But I guess you 'd then have to build your own interface and cable and whatnot.

Nissan Data Scan Software
I've never heard of Nissan Data SCan - and google is a tad unhelpful in this regard! Anyone have a link?

Turbo seal question

Turbo seal question
Aha - beaten to the "post" :D Ya5een - is that the Z32 turbos or just a generic cutaway? And is it feasible to just replace the seal or if the seal is u/s then the whole unit is probably knackered so you might as well refurb?

Turbo seal question
Bloody good question mate. These turbo seals were once described to me as "a £6 part which needs a £1,000 labour to replace". However, no-one has ever come up with a part no for the seal. http://www.300zx.lv/catalog/?gr=A&sec=144&pic=B01 So, and given that a bearing at that rpm and temperature must be a b*gger (clearly it's not a rubber o-ring seal hehe) I am wondering whether "seal" in this case just means the tolerance between the moving bit and the surface against which it is bearing. So not a real part at all - just how it fits. And therefore, if you've got old / knackered turbos, those surfaces no longer mate correctly and oil leaks past to give us the old plue smoke. Anyhoo this is just my non-mechanical stab-in-the-dark - anyone know for sure?

insurance claim advise please
Get a list with prices from the bloke(s) you got the secondhand bits from. Just because they were secondhand and/or private sale shouldn't be a problem.

Rust on UK/jap cars??
Jap 1990, no rust I can see, undersealed in the factory. According to Nissan GB - and others, yes they do underseal all cars in the factory

Should it be doing that?
Entertainment? Have you ever heard the phrase "sixpence - shilling - sixpence - shilling?" (Translation available for younger viewers hehe). Apparently the young new copilot had checked the oil on arrival but hadn't secured the oil filler cap properly... After we got down again, he was heard to mutter "they'll make me clean the plane..... with my shirt" hahahaha Funny afterwards for sure (and yep the Zed got us home no probs :) ) but when you look out the window as the plane is clawing for height to see 50% of its engines spewing oil is ummm interesting no matter how many beers you've had :duffer:
-
Should it be doing that?
Vroom vroom cough splutter - ah. What's that black stuff doing there? Surely that should be on the inside? Is that why there's a beep-beep-beep noise going off? "hmmm where's the smoke faq?" Captain and co-pilot get down and dirty cleaning 3.5 litres of oil out of the various nooks and crannies - not something the white-glove merchants at BA are used to! If you're going to have an oil leak, please god it's at ground level!

Should it be doing that?
We had an outing today  Me, the boss and the Zed Off to Le Touquet - bracing walk sur le promenade ooh look: pizza and beer :duffer: and then back to Le Touquet airport

Webdeveloper who can spell XML, PHP and MySQL
Having suffered months of :headvswal hell caused by ignorant suits and full-of-it tech gurus, I am looking for a way out - so back to the 300zx forum, natch! :p Legrath has had some good advice (ta) but I now need to put it into action. For which I need someone who isn't going to use my project as a learning curve and isn't going to charge suit money (aka "the wounded bull tariff"). So if anyone out there can speak XML, can build a user database and knows what ePDQ is, PM or email me. Pleeeeeease :D

N. 300z / T. Supra / M. GTO
At one stage I was looking at all 3 - in fact it was a Supra for sale that first got me thinking about grey import J fun. After some consideration and just as my own NVHO, I thought Supra = J attempt at a US muscle car, GTO just too umm gadgety and 300ZX v classic looks, v European GT supercar flavour, engine in the front driving wheels at the rear as God intended, loads of true sports heritage and (at 6 foot 3) I could get in it. And it's a 2+2. With a big tailgate load space. Then I test drove one. Turbos worked. Love at first gear. Job jobbed. :)

need help,,
According to 300ZX Enthusiast's Companion, HICAS only fitted to Turbo, not NA.

Why remove the rear wheel steering???
Not on our Zed "never exceeds plus or minus one degree, is purely designed to improve the car's response in medium and high-speed swerves". And, unlike other 4WS, it is two-phase: it gives a twitch of countersteer before settling wth all four wheels in the same direction. Not fitted on the N/A as they felt it didn't have the same need for high speed stability (+ 120mph)

Around Town
And it tempts fate to boast about how reliable your Zed is! However, and with fingers firmly crossed, I've had mine for 5 and a half years as a daily driver, commute to work, long runs and it didn't seem to me to have any more problems than any other 10 year (15 now) old car. Don't over-mod, avoid snake-oil, get a well maintained one and keep up the maintenance and you should be fine. Also, and I speak as a manual owner, if you are going to do a lot of town driving, consider an auto.

Fair Insurance Scheme Suggestion
Sadly true (mostly) but remember that the reason for insurance companies isn't to help customers or even provide insurance: it's to make money for their shareholders. That's why they will do everything they can to avoid paying on a claim.
