Aha - the man knows what he's talking about :) No, I've not done it before but I used to live out there so got interested in your question. Cheers - Gio

Importing a car from Jersey
No worries - you should try importing a car from Sark. That's almost impossible!

Importing a car from Jersey
Jersey is (sort of) GB but not EC. So it isn't like importing a car from Europe. http://www.thisisjersey.com/code/showarticle.pl?ArticleID=000037

:x: ooooh misquote me why don't you :rtfp:  my assertion was simply that a thing based solely on stats and average cannot sui generis be "unfair". If you want to posit that insurance companies are unfair, that's a completely different argument which cannot be founded on my original assertion. And that, my liege is how we know the earth to be banana shaped!

insurance claim advise please
spookily, this came up in the paper at the weekend http://www.guardian.co.uk/guardian_jobs_and_money/story/0,3605,1417490,00.html

By taking a contradictory position. :D 1) If insurance companies didn't make a profit, they would be paying out more money than they take in. Then they go bust and people who have a valid claim don't get the payout to which they are entitled. This is far less fair than your supposition hence my supposition is more fair. 2) The majority of drivers don't claim on their insurance - they are happy to pay for insurance against that horrible day (and may it never happen to you) they are involved in an accident with insured losses or, worse, compansation to be paid to some other person. So for most people, insurance is "fair". 3) Insurance can be unfair - eg astrassuck's case - but that's a) in the minority of cases and b) because astrassuck bunged himself (or got bunged) outside the normal sd. And therefore as a non-normal case got treated in a non-normal fashion. I have no problem with astrassuck's case being seen as "unfair" but you cannot extrapolate from a single case that "all insurance is unfair".

Certainly not. I believe what you say. It's a harsh way to learn always but always to check the paperwork. But most people who drive without insurance are doing so deliberately. So to penalise people for driving without insurance is "usually" fair. Just in your individual case it's a bit of a bitch.

I wasn't getting at astrassuck or individual specific cases. But a something which is based (only) on stats and averages cannot be "usually unfair". It will in most cases ("usually") be "fair" as this is in the nature of averages. To state anything else displays a complete non-comprehension of maths/statistics or a desire to pick a fight with a mathemetician!

Not sure what to do??? (please help)
Get it on a jig first. Proper one like Blackhawk or whatever. Until you can find out whether or not the chassis is within spec or not or fixable, everything else is guesswork.

Tough Decision
You should look at the tax situation - you get hammered so much for a company car these days. Maybe as much as 35% of its value is counted as your income each year. You'd probably be much better off taking their allowance and running your own car. Which is a great excuse for keeping the Zed.
-
WTF is in this Zed?
and look at the wipers - they are the wrong way round (at least for a J spec car) and the Z bonnet badge is the right way round. Did they reverse the wipers for LHD?

Chav burglar IQ lower than age
Yes there is a lot of tabloid crap talked about this. The law is not biased in favour of burglars. The number of actual prosecutions of people who have used force against an intruder is less than 15 over the past 10 years or so. No, you do not need to be threatened first. The law states you can use "reasonable force" and it is the jury (or magistrate) who decides what is reasonable. The current guidelines from the CPS state So you can lock up an intruder to hold him until the fuzz arrive. And you can belt them with whatever comes to hand if you honestly believe you are in danger. And more info here http://www.homeoffice.gov.uk/docs2/hs_safesecure2.html http://www.cps.gov.uk/legal/section5/chapter_d.html#04 http://www.crimereduction.gov.uk/homesecurity01.htm
