I started driving at 17 and im now 34. Fuel was just under 35p a litre then, Its quadrupled in 17 years. Back then i was on £3.00 an hour (working in a petrol station) and although there was no minimum wage, if there was one i would of been just about on it. Minimum wage now is what between £5 and £6 an hour??? So even taking inflation etc into account petrol is costing the average person twice as much in real terms than it did 17 years ago. Best thing about working in a petrol station at that time was the fuel blockades in the late 90s, I earnt more in tips than i did in wages!!!

Bread at a quid a loaf i can take. Even Polo mints at over 40p. But calling a Zed a JUNIOR Supercar?????!!!!

It is alot of dosh, but by the same token its a unique car. Considering its tiny miliage i think its priced right. Heres a question, If one appeared with delivery miliage, who would be prepered to fork out £40k on it which is about what they were new? If i had that sort of money id be very tempted.

Id say ebay if you want a quick sale for below its true value and a very good chance of being messed around! Autotrader if you want lots of other companies to phone you up and offer to sell it to their many waiting buyers lol Gumtree if you want no one to see the ad! Pistonheads is ok but not a quick sale. The best thing you can do really is put it up for sale on here as you will get closer to the amount the car is worth, but you will have to wait for the right buyer at the right price if that makes sense. If ebay is the only way then I recomend you do a classified ad or a buy it now with best offer a little over what you want to sell the car for and then when you get offers try to encourage would be buyers to come and have a look and haggle in person not via keyboard. Weve sold a few cheap cars on ebay (couple of hundred pounds to a couple of grand) and the amount of timewasters and dreamers is sickening.

You can always try writing a letter, explaining your reasons for the car being there, I have got off with a few tickets by writing a letter, better to try and give a acceptable reason for why it was there or why you couldnt get back to it before 6.30 and quite often they will excersise their discreton and let you off. If its a council or police ticket then you have a chance with mitigation, If its a privatly owned set of legal road pirates then you best to just pay it as these money hungry buggers very rarely back down.

ADL Blueprint do one ADN12103 fits both NA and TT and shouldnt set you back any more than £3 to £4 at any good car parts shop :wink: Mines ran on Blueprint filters for nearly 10 years with no probs.

Agree with the above, Converters are not a good idea on cars with 4 wheel steeing as if you swerve at 80mph the hicas will react to deal with a swerve at 80kmph (50mph).

There are some good 5W50 and 10W60 oils out there, which are very good at maintaining their viscosity at high temeperatures that they get to going through turbochargers. It is a can of worms but changing it regularly is just as important as the spec. My zed has been run on 5w50 for the past 7 years and prior to that castrol 10w60 for the 2 years. Its now on 160,000km which is about 100,000 miles and still on her factory turbos! touch wood.

The plenum is watercooled with water from the cooling system, seen as no real benifit to the cars performance or cooling many, many people have done it as it saves you replacing countless pipes under there.

My car has led a charmed life since ive had (7 years now!)it the oil normally changed every 3 months or 1500 miles which ever sooner!!! Dare say thats why the tubs are still in tact. Also the de catting and boost controller didnt finish them off so they must be in reasonable nick!

Alot of the pipes do perish with age bear in mind these cars ar knocking on for 20. Best thing you can do is do a plenum bypass and replace all the other hoses left afterwards, When i first got mine i reckon it cost me about a grand to get the whole cooling system (water pump, rad, matrix hoses, top and bottom rad hoses, turbo water pipes etc etc)sorted but its well worth it as its the most critical part to the engine surviving.

Who the hell fitted a water pump for £60? thats a fookin bargain. And a water pump at £40 was good too, lets hope it wasnt a Z31 one!!!

J spec 2+2 1991 Auto TT, just done 160k kms which is about 100k miles by my reckoning, 3 autoboxes in its life, original turbos, no rust.

I have never worried about the zed being stolen its hardly the choice of joyriders, ram raider etc and no ones going to ring one as they are worth bob all at the mo. I have had my zed 7 years with no security at all. Granted its in an alarmed garage now but thats only cos i used to keep the astra in there which used to attract the attention of every knobhead in the district.

I dreamt i still had my nova once that was a bit of a nightmare!!
