80 quid dash modification :-)
Theres no piont filling the car if ots not getting alot of use as the octane level in fuel drops as it gets older so your 98.6 ron v power will be 95 ron or less if left sitting for months. Also there is a bit of a last min warning before they run out, i took mine for a spin when i knew it was very low, when it started to stuggle at 3000 rpm and would go no higher, i managed to nurse it with gentle driving below 2000 rpm the mile or two to the patrol station. I class the zed as economical after running to work and back for a week in the mrs rx7, cos its only 1.5 miles to work it barely gets warm and returns me a mere 5.65 mpg, the very worst ive had out of the zed on this run is 12mpg, that said ive had the zed up in the mid 30s on a long gentle run to the brighton meet in 2003. Take the rx7 for a run and you may get near 20mpg if you can resist the loud pedal which is very hard to do!

RWD Diesels
Had a 2.2 dti omega (manual) and that was nice to drive but no run to the rear end, was like a sloth on wheels!! Got a 3.1 trooper, which you can kick the tail on but its a heavy old beast once its sideways! Only d (auto) does about 20 to 25 mpg so not economical either!!

waterpump speed
If the pump is failing id guess at an over-tensioned belt or a dodgy viscous coupling.

Well,I asked for it....
Manta, this one yours? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MODIFIED-NISSAN-300ZX-FAIRLADY-SWAP-/180736604042?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item2a14bdb78a

Well,I asked for it....
Wait till you get the phone calls reading the entire listing to you then offering you half the asking price!! I hate selling cars on ebay as it opens your door and phoneline to every idiot on the planet! Best one i had was a guy buying a £500 banger with loads of tax and test wanting the car cheaper to cover his costs for travelling to get to collect the car and fuel to get it home. I asked him if he was from australia would i be expected to pay for the flight. Having said that I stood my ground and he payed the full asking price. I do think ebay adds need a tag saying no dickheads, no texts, i also tell people i will not haggle on the phone as it doesnt matter if they offer 50p or a million quid on the phone, if you cant see their money its all irrelivant.

need all your help :)
If you list your pub on loads off the free index sites amd free local pages sites you will rapidly climb the google listings without it costing you a penny, you do need to periodically say once every couple of months go on and edit a few bits just to stop yourself slipping down the ratings. I did this for my shop and we nearly always come out top if anyone searches car parts nuneaton.

Buying tyres without being legal
If your MOT is out you can book it in for a test at an MOT station and you are allowed to drive it to and from the test centre only with no mot and tax. But if stopped you can still face prosecution for driving an unroadworthy vehicle should you be stopped and the police deem it dangerous, ie bald tyres. You MUST have insurance to drive or even to leave a car parked on the public highway. You also cant get someone else to drive it off their insurance, even if they have a 3rd party extension to drive other vehicles, as the small print will insist the vehicle holds other insurance. A registered motor trader may be able to drive it as their policy is comprehensive regardless of whether the vehicle has existing cover or not. Ignorance is no defence in the eyes of the law. If i were you id jack it up and take the wheels off!!

Clio 182
Eh up clarkey. glad to see you still got it. Clio 182s are rapid off the mark, and will give a stock zed a good run upto 50 or 60, both floor it at 80 amd youd murder him. Hayley has had 172s and 182s before i turned her japanese the cups are also extra quick due to less weight. Get a decent boost controller on yours and you should be able to keep all the rece boys well and truely behind you!

Ford Ka wanted?
Ka,s do rot pretty bad, normally under all that plastic crap they stuck on em. 106s and Saxos rot on the boot floor edges along the seam. 1.1s are also prone to head gasket faliure and CV joint faliure, which means you have to replace the whole shaft, as the joints cant be split from the shaft without knackering the shaft. VW golfs and polos suffer with rot to the lower doors, and tailgates areas but also the floor and footwells go on the older less looked after ones, VWs also suffer alot of "console bush" faliures as they use a suspension arm bush which is bonded to a weak plastic sleeve as opposed to metal that most manufacturers use, causing them to fail quite easily if worked hard. If you really have to get a ka id try and get one thats already been welded, as if you buy one which hasnt been the chances are you will need it doing for its next mot. Talk her into a Yaris or a micra, Having said that the micras suffer with throttle body problems!!

SORN'd :o(
Back to SORNs, mines been sorned since January, but having said that it hadnt seen the road since about October last year, the mot ran out a few weeks ago, keep meaning to pop her down the road and get her a new ticket, that way i can still tax her online and pull her out should the need arise.

Brake pads
ADL ones are pretty good (ADN14236 if i recall correctly!)if you dont overwork them, S14 and some Imprezza pads also fit as they all use the same sumitomo caliper, and if i recall correctly you can fit 300 pads to a gto, buy gto ones wont fit a 300 as they need the trimmed edges to fit the 300 nbut not on the gto.

couple of auto related q's
Cant the temp sensor clip being loose cause it to do this too? If i were toy id check that too, its dead easy to whack a little cable tie around the plug to make sure its not wobbling about, also give the connector a clean befor you do this.
-
couple of auto related q's
Answer is no as it has no clutch, if the torque converter goes then youll know as it will lose drive and its new box time, most of the time you cant really tell when an autobox is on its way out, some get noisey before giving up, others just let go without warning, generally low autobox fluid will make awful squeaky noises, low line pressure makes sloppy changes, high line pressure makes neck jerking gear changes. You can sometimes fix sloppy gearchanges with fresh oil but often once the autobox is on its way out there is very little you can do to save it. Decent 2nd hand autoboxes arent mega expensive and relativly available as people crash or convert to manual.

couple of auto related q's
If its running cold, and on choke then this is normal, if its doing it warm your base idle may be out, tps may not be right, but 1st id clean the trottle body, if its sooted up and not cosing at idle it will hunt a little.

Rad change, advice.
New hose clips? Maybe some skin for your knuckles as youll be losing a bit of yours!! Jack it as high as you dare, the higher the front the less likely an airlock, youll know if youve gone too far when it falls on its roof!

Water leak at back of the engine
You could have a hairline crack in a hose, sometimes these are not big enough to let water leak out of the offending hose, but after shut off they suck in air through the crack, then on next run the engine has excess air in the system allowing it to pressurise and spew water out via the rad overflow. When i 1st got my zed i painstakingly replaced all the important water hoses, bypassed the unimportant plenum ones, flushed out the water system and replaced coolant, replaced the water pump and fitted a koyo rad. This was an expensive and time consuming task but 10 years later my zedsstill running well on its original turbos with no faults having covered just over 100,000 miles. It may be case of taking each hose off one by one inspecting and replacing hoses and clips where needed which on a 20 year old car is going to be most of them, and theres no point putting a new hose on using a 20 year old hose clip. Id recommend the koyo or similar rad to anyone using a stock rad as the capacity and amount of cooling provided by them is many times better than that of stock, and the look great too. Also to save yourself a bob or 2 on water pumps, I know everyone loves a Nissan part in a Nissan box, but you can buy pattern water pumps for zeds without worry because most of the pattern pumps are made by NPW as i recall (its stamped on the body of the pump) as are the nissan ones (Nissan dont manufacture water pumps) they simply outsource it to a factory to design and build it to their specs. If you stick to the big aftermarket names like FAI, ADL Blueprint, First Line, Nipparts, BGA etc and even QH! you will find the product inside the box the same as the O.E one, HOWEVER one thing to steer clear of and to watch out for is alternative part numbers on some of these, you have to make sure that the one you get is specifically for the Z32 and not an alternative, will fit number. A prime example of this is the Z31 water pum which fits the Z32, all the bolt holes line up etc and at 1st glance looks the same but when you look at the impellors on the reverse of the pump, ther is less on the Z31 pump than there is on the Z32, i can remember off hand but i think the Z32 has one more than the Z31 one and therefore can move more water. Think ive strayed a bit off topic, but its a handy thing to know when buying a water pump anyway, i know a lot of people love O.E and no one can knock that but there are good alternatives out there you just have to take a good look at what you are buying. Anyway good luck with your leaks!

Brake Shoes Same as skyline?
Yep i think z32 ones are the same, but unfortunatly about the same price at nissan. Might be worth ringing pete at autojap in coventry as he had a couple of sets when i worked there but that was a few years ago. I dont think forum rules will let me post up their number but youll find it on google.

Water leak at back of the engine
The stat and water pump are at the front of the engine, if its at the back its either matrix or turbo water hoses.
