Is it the connector that goes onto the front of the engine come loose or off, that causes fan to be on perminantly.I pushed mine on hard and tightly wrapped a cable tie around it and it hasnt done it since.

No they open when you swich em one way and close when you do it the other.

If it is the pipes to the oil cooler, and youve lost alot of oil from it but not yet lost drive, my advice is to get it looked at by a garage but dont drive it, get it on the back of a trailer, I had a pipe split on my autobox oil cooler but cos i saw the smoke i stopped and switched off. It cost me £60 for recovery and £65 to get the pipes sorted, £125 is a hell of a lot better than a grand for a new box.
