Having taken my car apart over the past few days in an atttempt to change the water pump, i am now at the stage shown in the pic below technically refered to as the "ooh **** what the hell have i got myself into" stage. Anyway i'm still unsure what has caused my leak but im doing the little hoses, thermostat and water pump. Many thanks to Macca, Andy Duff, TonyC and mtl who hav helped me get this far!!! but now a couple of questions. 1. Where are the engine coolant drains as i cant find em, have found a scetchy pic in the manual which didnt really help much. 2. How far should a fully working thermostat open when you put it in boiling water? 3. and if Mr duff or anyone would like to go over the method of removing the big crankshaft pulley again for me i'd be most greatful.Ive goy the 27mm socket, the pulley puller and even a big iron bar as a substitute for my stregnth, but can i stop that bloody wheel from turning......no. :confused:

Pete, if you park on a kirb and drive onto a couple of bits of wood, you should be able to get under, then again being my size i bearley need to jack the car up to get under it!!! No, but i think boyo with the fiat has read max power, seen maccas car and tried to copy it!!! Sadly he hasnt done a very good job!!! The bonnet vent on this one wasnt so clever either!!

Franco, it costs nothing to look, so i say go look, I'd also take someone else (either someone off here or a mechanically minded mate) as when your buying its far to easy to fall in love with the first heap of rust you lay eyes on!!! I know ive been there!! (no, not with my current zed!:D ) Judging by the pics id say the clock doesnt work, so that may be a very small bargaining tool!!! but it looks quite nice, but having said that cars always look better in pictures. Where is the car, theres bound to be someone local who will go and have a butchers with you. Best of Luck

mine seems to me to make kind of ticking noise from the top of the cylinder nearest the dash. Thing is when i ask my matesif they can hear it they cant:confused: I know that when its youre own car you can hear noises that no one else can. Im already running castrol 10/60 and i reckon its more "ticky" since ive used this, was on 10/40 before i believe, im going to try a bit of that extralube ZX1 (least i think thats what its called) see if that does the trick. Then again it could just be me, but a bit of friction reduction can't hurt.

Pete, its deffo the speed sensor id say, but it may just be a wire on it thats loose, i found that one of mine had touched the ehaust and nearly knackered the wire which made the speedo intermittant. The speed sensor is to the drivers side of the bottom of the auto box (from underneath) its further back than one would think, think its the only part I havent took a picture of!:(

Had mine dead on a year, has cost me dead on a grand in one year, thats not including fuel, tax and insurance. Just sevicing and repairs, and nothing major has gone wrong!!! Id hate to add up what ive spent incuding fuel, oh bugger got me thinking now!!! Dont care what it costs, i still love it!

Just remove something important from under the bonnet like the PTU and say its been stolen, the AA wont carry one, make sure they put it on a tailer and not just tow it though

I think its quite cheap, 290 quid to make the back end look so much newer, theyre on my very long "to do" list!
