Good on you, welcome to the mad world of zed ownership, may all your repair bills be little ones!!!;)
  2. That will be your problem then, marmite - engines will either love it or hate it!!!;) Have you checked all the obvious connections like the switch on the power/hold thingy on the dash, these cars have some funny reactions when things are loose/disconnected.
  3. Sad news, my sypathies to all the families and friends.
  4. Mine was very similar to yours before i replaced the water pump, turned out that it was just the seal on the pump and not the pump itself, but while i was in there i replaced it too, i also did the two little water pipes that you cant see untill yo take it all apart, the thermostat, top hose etc. The problem with alot of these leaks is they dont do it at idle they only do it under propper load/high revs so they can be difficult to find, at idle they tend to suck air in then not dump fluid till after shut off. Could even be someting as simple as an air lock in the system, when you fill it (with the engine OFF) undo the bleed screw on the left hand side of the rad and top it up slowly, when it gets full, leave it for a min or so then try to get more in, keep doing this till no more will go in without it comming out the bleed hole, then do it up put the rad cap back on run it up to temp, let it cool back down and repeat. If you need any help locating the bits in there feel free to give me a bell on 07966 891954.

I havent tried it but id give no more nails a go, that stuff will stick sh1t to a ceiling!!!:D
  6. Now my cars got to have a respray (see pic) I have decided i want some vents to let some of that excessive heat out from under the bonnet. I like warrens but not sure, i also like vijays, but not sure again:confused: So if anyone can post up some subtle vent pics id appreciate it or e mail em to me at berkeley.mather@orange.net id be very greatful.
  7. Scince then my mate has seen it, it beat the subaru i had a go at too!!! Turns out its got a corrado G60 engine squeezed into its shed like body, so i dont feel so bad now.:D
  8. Calls you a smart arse, very good, strangely addictive too!!!:D
  9. I got mine for £45 though it took me about a week to fit it!!!! But all is good now and i learnt alot doing it, ie put the cam belt cover back on before the water pipes!!!
  10. You could just put red bulbs in, that is when you put them on SMW1!!!;)
  11. It can vary greatly, mine is completly stock TT auto, best ive had is high twenties, worst 11:(
  12. If the answer is arse then why is cash being exchanged, i thought they already had an 'arrangement'!!
  13. If its wobbling at speed and/ or not folding properly chances are that the round metal disc that they are attached to inside is broken, mine had been snapped in two, think someone had tried to tigten up the 3 screws too much, and i thought id have to get a new one but i thought id give the no more nails a go on it. It stuck it perfectly it now folds in and out ok and doesnt wobble at speed. Another tip, if removing the mirror move the mirrors so theyre not folded either in or out but somewhere in between so that when you take it off the two ball bearings and springs that it clicks into place with dont fall out. They are a sod to get back in if the metal disc is broke. (you will see what i mean when you take it off!! Also you dont have to remove the door trim to get to this bit, just the 3 screws, though you dont get alot of room to work in as its still attached by the wire.
  14. I know using a hairdryer works to remove alot of stickers and badges, sureley the same applies to tints.
  15. I'd like something inbetween maybe ahout 4 to 6 inches off the tailgate. Trust me to be awkward!!
  16. None of them were me but you got to hand it to whoever they are, as theyve got great taste in colour!!!;) :D :D
  17. I think due to their congestion, they dont have the opportunity to get their cars up at 100+mph for long periods like we sometimes can over here, and I think that its more the high speed rather than the hot weather that does the box more harm when the box is not cooled enough. Least thats my theory anyway!!:D
  18. If your car hasnt got an oil cooler for the gearbox, i would reccomend getting one ASAP, the J specs just dont seem to last over here without them. First Zed I bought had no oil cooler, and the box lasted about 4 weeks, i think without the cooler the atf just gets cooked at high speed or in traffic. Second zed (the current one) had had a cooler fitted by previous owner, after blowing the box, and has never had any problems since and ive had it over a year now. If you want to look to see if yours has one it should look like another rad and will probably be located behind where the number plate lives, if you cant find one go get one fitted or you will kick yourself when you need to find a grand for a new box. All the best.
  19. Cars alwats seem to be a little dearer in exchange and mart, dunno why:confused:
  20. Andy, this link is all we've got on it i think. http://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/displayNode.jsp?nodeId=42629&command=displayContent&sourceNode=42628&contentPK=6076995
  21. Is that pic real? If a 220 went up a kirb like that it would have tore off the bumper before it hit the post sureley. (not that ive ever had the pleasure of crashing one!!!)
  22. If its a J spec with a foglight coversion, you may find that a relay has been screwed onto the stereo cage, if the relay plays up it can cause the stereo to trip off. Mine used to do this, on a sony headunit, so i ripped out the relay and rewired the foglight so there is no relay attached to the cage.
  23. It said at time of printing, that the police hadnt established whether the driver was the legal owner, if they were car thieves its poetic justice, if not its a sad loss.
  24. If youve got that legal protection on your insurance, give them a bell and they will sort it for you!!
