Sad news, but if the cause is as you thought then it's lucky this didn't happen at high speed as that would've been disastrous.

This should be interesting. Have you considered an R34 front end conversion? I think it looks awesome.

Last I checked you can also get a Gates timing belt from MicksGarage if that's any help.

I didn't get to meet the owner. I spoke to the owner of the pearl white Z though, he's from Fermanagh I think he said and has had it about ten years!

Consider as well that you could pay over €250,000 for an excellent NSX-R. I can't imagine there's a Z32 in the world that will get more than €40,000 in the next few years!

I don't think I've ever been as jealous as I am right now. I agree though, as much as I'd love to own all of those cars (and more), I'd always prefer the Z.

Still plenty of excellent ones knocking around Japan ;) Prices have probably gone up though!

How would I check that? The idle speed does usually settle down to normal after the engine's warmed up.

Exactly. I don't think it was even on high idle this time once it settled.

So I'm wondering how normal this is, as it's something my car does occasionally. Sometimes when it first fires, it applies some serious throttle input. This morning, for instance, it must've hit about 3,000 RPM. I'm sure the neighbours must have loved that at 6 AM, and it wasn't even a particularly cold morning. I know in general this is pretty normal behaviour on a cold start, but surely a VG30 shouldn't do it that much?
