  1. I cant wait bud, Im sure looking forward to seeing the difference in performance. Just collecting the last few bits for the mod then it'll be underway :hyper: In the meantime she's on the drive with a knackered box :headvswal Its only a matter of time b4 shes done :D
  2. I would convert m8 :hyper: Just remember that the auto motor has smaller turbos and a diff camshaft, this delivers peak power & torque a bit lower down than a manual motor. With the smaller tubs you'll find spool up is faster, less lag than stock tubs. This theoretically should make a manual-converted auto a bit quicker than a stock manual zed - but whose counting :D Im in the throws of a manwell convo at the mo so I cant wait to get it done
  3. M8 can you please not keep posting about your manwell conversion, it keeps making me dribble while Im typing :D My zeds on the drive just waiting for me to install the new manwell kit too :)
  4. I just cant wait to install my manwell convo soon now :hyper:
  5. CURRY ;) Just dont get the Calcutta Splutta 2moz :D
  6. This high speed cruising is only obtainable in dark coloured zeds tho ;)
  7. Are the clutch and brake booster all the same component or did we have a seperate brake booster fitted to the autos anyway? I'm gonna keep looking to see what else can be used, they're must be alternatives out there ;)
  8. I found this on a forum in the U.S. Seeing as were looking for the same stuff ;) I thought this may be useful, I'm certainly going to look into it. Marc TT zed clutch uses a small booster on the inside of the engine bay with an ordinary master cyl outside. This one was $5 from a wrecker. Its off a p11 (1997 approx) Nissan Primera. Dont know if they have them in the US, but they are a small 4door front drive with sr18's and sr20 engines. They are the same bore size but due to a huge recessed firewall mount the resevoir separate. Instead of the booster vacuum hose poking thru, its now the reservoir hose. The hydraulic line pops thru just below it with a chassis type budy fitting.
  9. I have no idea what they're worth bud. But you could try popping it on http://www.fzr1000.co.uk theres some nutters over there who might like it ;)
  10. MMMMMMMM Im just finishing off my FZR1000 at mo, Rainbowztt's doing me a nice R1 colour job ;) Then I'm gonna sell it, its low mileage & mint........mind you taking it for a spin with a nos kits mental :D but a very tempting thought
  11. Hi Dave, Im gonna be a bit busy this weekend but would be good to meet up. Ive also fitted a full set of Rotora slotted and drilled disks with axxis pads - best thing you can do with a zed is make it stop :D I fitted an oil cooler to my jap 90 TT was easy but its coming off now cos going manwell ;) Dont underestimate the auto, a manual has got to be bent through the gears to keep level with it. Even tho they are pretty much equal speed wise etc, you just plant your foot with the auto and thats it, sit back , relaaaaax :D enjoy :p I fitted an underdrive pulley too - that helps it pick up the revs real easy too ;)
  12. all hail the power button
  13. I know im gonna miss the auto......but I cant resist the manual box on an auto motor ;)
  14. When your playing with the zed the only thing to watch when starting to go sideways. With a manwell, when you take your foot off the gas the power stops driving the car. With the auto the clutches are still spinning and the box is till delivering power for a second or so after getting off the gas, they carry a bit more inertia so it'll keep on slipping.................. then it'll grip like hell n smash your head through the door window :D if you've over cooked it  You have a bit more control with a manual as to when and how the power comes on, the autobox tries its hardest to smooth the ride. They're both good either way. Ive really enjoyed the auto but im changing it for more of a challenging drive ;) imho
  15. The best point with the autobox is that its easy and the power delivery is very smooth. If your ever in a traffic jam........its perfect ;)
  16. When i was taking my motor to bits I found that same prob when all back together. The prob for me was the sender connectors from the upper rad pipes . I just wiggled the connectors...prob sorted. But best to just check coolant level, make sure no air locks and that everything is tightened up correctly. its very easy to disturb the zed :D
  17. Hold button locks car in 2nd gear, for use in slow bad driving conditions ie snow etc Never had my box shift up on me like that, mainly cos i kept it in power mode with OD off ;) mega nippy Nicething with the auto is when you floor it, it just keeps going and going. Also max torque is around 3500-4000 rpm iirc which makes for a very useable amount of power. All that aside..... Im converting to manual now cos I blew the box
  18. BTW I was using a fluidyne cooler, so may be different for other brands. Im doing a manwell conversion soon so the cooler will be up for grabs, only had it 6 months, been used for around 1000 miles :D
  19. I used my stock pipes too They can be a sod to squeeze over the flared ends on the oil cooler pipes.
  20. I actually shortened my pipes when I did mine I set the g/box oil cooler low down on the koyo using cable ties, so it was in max air flow. I then used high quality cable ties and tied the pipes to the stainless rad pipes. I kept the hoses on the same side as the originals as it was easier to follow the lower rad pipe. HTH Marc
  21. Discreet packaging tho ;) Even if the whole world knows you've got a mini meat :D
  22. M8...my ex-mother-in-laws cakes were actually made from stone...honest :p stone cakes = scones :D = cakes made from stone, im not joking they were tuff as hell, incinerated at 1000 c for 10 hrs, spitefully served up with a nice bile flavoured fondant icing ;)
  23. Dont know about you guys but Im loading pics of my car up now......any takers at 27k :nelson:
  24. he needs to take a 3 x 0's off ;) Then I'd bid
  25. Cant beleive what Ive just found :p I wish we could all get that kinda money :D http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1989-NISSAN-300-ZX-2-2-RED_W0QQitemZ320083533988QQihZ011QQcategoryZ18238QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
