right this weekend I am going to fit my uprated gearbox oil cooler(flushed out engine oil cooler!!) to my jap TT.

have a couple of questions.

1. when i take the pipes off the existing cooler on the side of the rad how much more pipe do i need and whats the best way to join em.

2. do i need to block the outlets on the rad cooler?

3. does it matter which way round the new cooler sits?

4. Am i mad to attempt this at home?

cheers

this is a very very old question but one i need answering, anyone? what size pipe do i need by the way?

even stranger me to,just been waiting for someone else to ask and do the donkey work then like a ninja stalker strike and get in on somebody elses thread :D

ffs excuse me i dont know what come over me

i must be really tired cos i have no idea what your on about

I actually shortened my pipes when I did mine

I set the g/box oil cooler low down on the koyo using cable ties, so it was in max air flow. I then used high quality cable ties and tied the pipes to the stainless rad pipes.

I kept the hoses on the same side as the originals as it was easier to follow the lower rad pipe.

HTH

Marc

I used my stock pipes too

They can be a sod to squeeze over the flared ends on the oil cooler pipes.

BTW I was using a fluidyne cooler, so may be different for other brands.

Im doing a manwell conversion soon so the cooler will be up for grabs, only had it 6 months, been used for around 1000 miles :D
