  1. thanks guys, its still under warrenty but at least we have an idea what might be wrong as the warrenty guys will only payout up to about 500£ for cooling problems.
  2. on a long trip the mrs mx5 overheated. When she bought it, it had obviously had a new radiator core and electric fans which suggests its had coolant problems before. Greenflag were rubbish when they came out to see her as he just topped up the water and sent her on her way, unsuprisingly it happened again (although he didnt bleed the system at all) On her drive home she was sat in traffic for about an hour with the engine on and it didnt overheat at all, but as soon as she started driving above 60 it got increasingly hotter with speed which would have eventually resulted in overheating again so she slowed down. The levels are fine on the car again now shes back, but its still overheating and we are confused as to whats going on really. Thermostat maybe? The electric fan is working fine, but strangely doesnt come on once the ignition is switched off. Water pump? Ideas will be well received guys and gals...
  3. only know what it says on the auction mate, claims to do similar stuff to a grounding kit IMHO, but probably doesnt deliver
  4. doesnt really suprise me, just wondered really
  5. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Nissan-Nismo-RACING-CHARGING-STABILIZER-200SX-300ZX-Z_W0QQitemZ8073168714QQcategoryZ72205QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Found this on ebay guys and it sounds interesting but do you think its pointless? Anyone got one?
  6. arr, no fair... (mind due i drive an auto anyways so im alright...)
  7. post it please, let the rest of us in on any secrets!
  8. that is fairly cheap, there is a problem with the fitting of the goodridge hoses at the moment though. The goodridge fitment on to the calipers is fine but not onto the zed itself. They are working the problem at the moment, but if you can wait then i would as ive had a set of these for bloody ages waiting to go on and its just pi$$ing me off looking at them
  9. my power steering is never light as a feather, would say there is always a fair amount of pressure to steer
  10. got mine next month, hope it passes not got lots of spare ££ at the moment...
  11. im sure if u could get an adapter dab there will be guys cueing up for homemade regassing skills
  12. doesnt half sound like a bag of nails, sounds like its running with no oil
  13. seems a sensbile plan to me as forced cooling is always going to be better then just ambient. Gains would really depend how tucked away from the airflow your intercoolers are. Its not goin to hurt your cooling thats for sure, but a boffin definatly required to say how worth while it would be..
  14. my passenger side rear does this and the pads are sqeeking as well damn it
  15. any chance i could make it worth your while to hav a copy, just let me know if you want any cds i could send in return
  16. still not brave enough not to brake something on the zed! maybe il have to buy some cheap rwdrive car and start there
  17. sorry for thread stealing, but on a slightly different note, if i upgade my front discs, will the current ones ive got on fit on the rear as they surly would be a sizeable upgrade ?
  18. so wish i could drive like that.... also wish i was brave enough to try it in my zed without fear of braking it!
  19. thanks, was also just thinking i could probably piggy back off the remote start unit itself as this must have a live during the start sequence. Il be off to halfords this week to buy a live tester screwdriver then....
  20. oh right hadnt thought about the added complecation of an auto box. I take it theres no point in just swapping out the 3.5 l or so without draining the tq converter ? I might hold off on the auto box myself and wait until someone that knows what they are doing is available to do it. Il get ordering my 2.1l of purple for the diff in the mean time.. 75w90 it is then i guess....
  21. im running 225 and 265 rear, car handles well but you can get wheel spin if your doing 0-60 type launches, not sure if 275's would help this but a zed on 18s with wide wheels at the back looks soooooooo good imho
  22. love that big brake kit, if only i had the £££ anyone want a kidney?
  23. Im looking at swapping my diff and autobox oils and have decided to go for royal purple off the back of the recent thread that made it sound good. Autobox isnt a priority but would be nice to get done whilst the cars on a lift. After searching the castrol website ive found the following and wanted to check its correct before going head long into it : Diff oil 2.1 litres as 75w90 ? (this sound correct?) Autobox 8.7litres as dexron 3? Also had a search on "how-tos" and found one http://www.ttzd.com/ here, but the pictures are not great. Just wondered if anyone had any clearer pictures or tips before i get into doing this job. (appart from taking the plug on the side off before the drain plug...) cheers all, during this job il be trying to get some really clear pictures and add it as a faq if theres interest
