  1. Just had another look and have 2 thoughts if it isnt supposed to be like this (which im sure it isnt!) 1) Can i just put an extra washer in as this looks like it would hold the bracket firmly against the car. Im guessing this would cause one of the brake pads to wear quicker than the other? 2) Anyone see a reason why i couldnt get a nut and bolt to do the same job ? Even if the thread has gone out of my zed (which im still not sure about!) then i could just tighten those 2 togeather and this would hold the bracket firmly?
  2. Hi guys, desperatly need some advice as im mid through (fooking!) my big brake upgrade.. I got the old disc and the caliper off without too much hasstle and thought all was going well. Came to fit the bracket for the caliper and realised i didnt have a 10mm allenkey for the those bolts. Thankfully a neighbour had one so got on with fitting the bracket. Thing was no matter how tight i tried to get those bolts the bracket was never really firm against the car and you can twist it! Its as if it needs an extra washer, but clearly that will adjust the spacing of the caliper. Im worried now i might have stripped the threads out of the zed in either getting the caliper off or in putting the bracket on! Not sure what to do next really and the cars now looking sorry for itself a fair bit! Their is resistance and their looks to be thread there but you can twist the bracket/caliper about 4mm ! :headvswal HELP!
  3. Dont suppose you fancy buying my old discs do you?ebc drilled and grooved from the front? Good news about the brace, i just need to find the £40 then
  4. On a seperate note, i noticed you ordered one of the brake master cylinder braces. Did you notice much difference to the feel? I understand it wont improve braking but better feel is a good start.
  5. LOL, glad to see its not just me with the big bar/ tight as fook approach!
  6. Mate, just one question, did you torque everything up? I dont have a torque rench and was wondering if its worth getting me one and following all these numbers in the guides?
  7. Cheers mate, that should be enough information to get me going. Stand by for mid-job requests for help tomorrow with my zed in pieces
  8. These cars seem to have lots of bits like that we can bin. My aivs going this weekend. No suprise a zed weights as much as is does with bits like this all over them
  9. Mine arrived today in the post   Il be fitting it tomorrow, but i was wondering if anyone had got a link to a website with a guide i could follow ? Smithy mentioned it, but id really like to get on a fit it tomorrow, so guessing he wont have chance to get back to me until at least monday now. Any advice as ive not swapped discs/pads before? Cheers all
  10. I can not go either, just found out got a mates wedding to go to on the same weekend! Boo!
  11. If you search for pcv replacement then a few of the website guides do mention this could be because of them. However, if it were your pcvs would have thought you would get a smokey idle as well?
  12. Cheers mate, ive got a lazy left hand o2 sensor, but are these worth swapping in pairs?
  13. Are the TT and N/A oxy sensors the same? Also is there any option of aftermarket o2 sensors? Ive heard some banter about wide band sensors but no idea what they are / how they would fit in to a zed
  14. Its funny how all sim instructors seem to have the time to sit and watch tv all day!
  15. Is there any reason why the pcv valves can not be cleaned and then replaced? Im just trying to avoid spending any more on the zed this month (if i can help it!) and suspect the pcv smokeyness will not help my zed sail though the mot
  16. Im thinking about going medieval and changing the connector on my zed just to get these pipes in. Its not what id like to do as you would think a large company like goodridge could sort a simple problem like this!
  17. Ive got some goodridge braided hoses waiting to go on (had them best part of 2months!) but theres an on going fitment issue with goodridge preventing me getting them on at the moment! Got some new brake fluid from oilman waiting to go in as well when i do the hoses
  18. Nice and agressive style to those wheels, look great
  19. My big brake kit should be here by the weekend from smithy ( ) and while the car was jacked, wheels and discs off ive been thinking of things i could get done making the most of the access... So far ive come up with : AIV removal (not really got any reason to do it, but while ive got access...) Washer jet motor/connectors clean (using the guide in the faq) Fit the big brake kit (obviously). Just wondering if there was anything else i could do while ive got access/car jacked?
  20. Shame to see anyone go, but sounds like you can sleep easy knowing your zed will be loked after. Also nice to see a zed in good nic getting a good price!
  21. I think its just a factor that zeds are all about 10-15years old now and approaching the life of some of the major components. Expensive times to kepp the buggers on the road, and the next few years will decide the cars future as a modern classic or just as a really rare cars. Look how many people have taken to breaking their zeds recently because of minor (ish) faults or not being able to sell them for decent money. Easy to say, but i understand why peoples will doesnt stretch to replacing turbos when for about the same money you can buy another zed and just run that!
  22. Ive got some goodridge hoses and high spec brake fluid waiting to go in aswell (on a bit of a braking mission!), but waiting for goodridge to sort thier lives out as the kits dont fit properly
  23. a smithy big brake kit   Hoping it will arrive before this weekend so i can get on and fit it on sat/sun. Ive never done any kind of brake work before, but smithys guide should help. Am i mad for attempting this on my driveway with normal kind of tools? Any "gottchas" people noticed from fitting the kit before? Im so looking forward to getting the better braking performance!
  24. Great guide, thanks for clearing some of this up. One thing ive always been confused about is the differences between fully/semi-synthetic oils and which i should use /why ? Also, ive started to notice the new "high-performance" castrol oils are saying a 0W 50 is the best for a zed but isnt a 0W over kill for the uk?
