1. Great stuff mate, looking great already! I've got all this to do when the V8 comes back fully MOT'd then lots of tidying up to do in the engine bay and hopefully make it look a bit more like yours :)
2. Fantastic news, looks like a great purchase and always worth travelling the country (well several!) to get the right car :)
3. That's brilliant news Bob, well done! :D A credit to the club and a lovely looking Zed to boot
4. Can't believe he's dead, always amazed me just how energetic he was even in later life. RIP Norman
5. Inside i feel..... :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:
6. Cheers Gary, i'll try and get some video as i'm on the way to the test :) Back to work for me tonight so i'll be fixing that leaking brake hose connector, connecting up the reverse light and speed sender then start refitting the interior and we're about ready to go :hyper:
7. Great news, just got off the phone and haggled a bit and managed to get a MODIFIED CLASSIC policy for £748 fully comp with everything declared for an agreed value of £8000 and cover for UK and Europe over 3000 miles. Not bad for a 450-500bhp car with a 6.3 litre engine :) So i get my 9 years no claims to use on the day to day car which'll save me money in the long run. Very chuffed with that and i'll be booking the MOT for Thursday now, popped up at lunch and quizzed him on the fact i was awaiting a V5 form and he says it makes no odds, he'll MOT as a 6.3 litre carburetor engine which means no emissions just a visual smoke check for an engine of its age and apart from that everything is new so shouldn't fail on anything :)
8. Well just got off the phone to the insurance company and had a quote back of £870 fully comp which isn't bad for saying this thing'll putting down 450-500bhp. I also rang a company that specialise in hotrods and they've already said they can beat that by £100 and he's on the phone to the underwriters to see if he can save me any more so looking good to be insured by tomorrow! :hyper:
9. Lol, Shut it you - I thought mechanical stuff took priority over a pretty dash :p lol Fitting the speed sender and reverse wiring tonight so the interior can go back in then :) Because the subframe and rack are 2" lower those arms were made up by the previous owner to connect up level. I can understand the idea behind it but the proof's in the pudding when I get on the road! Seems to be nice and solid up in the air and driving round the driveway :)
10. Soon as this car's on the road i'll be organising a meet. It's been over a year since i last saw everyone and more if i count you :D Mate, you're a star - finished the brakes and suspension today and it's a little high at the front but better that than scraping the floor and the shocks are nice and firm so more than good enough to keep me going till i buy some of those coilovers you have :) Right folks, brakes are complete, suspension is painted and tracking is now done roughly. Another vid to wet your appetite till i finish putting the body and lights together then i'll do a walkaround :)
11. Cheers Dave :D Vinz, lol no this is from a motorsport supplier so reinforced glass from a place called Merlin Motorsport at Castle Combe. http://www.merlinmotorsport.com
12. Great stuff, looks a fantastic project, that's ideally what i want to do to mine once i know it's all working after the show season next year - strip it down to nothing, send everything off to be blasted, powdercoated and refit with new bolts throughout with a few tweaks here and there :) Looks like it's going to give some of the tidyiest zeds on here a run for their money when it's done! :D
13. Hahaha, saw this ages ago but never got around to watching it properly but that's ace
14. He's an absolute ledge  Loved him on MacIntyre the other week but haven't seen his programme yet
15. What a great idea moving the PAS pot under the nosecone! I was trying to find somewhere i could put mine out of the way so could smooth and deseem :headvswal Great work, looking forward to the next installment :hyper:
16. Cheers buddy :) There's a couple of people on here that have done a VQ45 conversion which are easy to get hold of and they have all the bellhousing adapter plans to mate it up to a standard 300zx tranny so that would be a good option if you wanted to go the modern V8 route (John Dixon and Friday on here). The overflow tank was a bit of a fluke really, that's how i got it! The neck does come off though and i would say filling it and soaking it in rad flush overnight would probably do the trick then get a bottle brush out in the morning and giving it a good scrub before you flush it out.
17. Next job before reattaching the wing was remove the huge oversized truck filter and replace it with a racing high flow filter: Much neater! (the braided hose behind is the clutch bleeding line: Wing on, lining on after being cleaned and everything torqued up to spec. While the wheel was off i started bleeding the brakelines off. I don't know if you've tried this on a car that's had dry lines and calipers but it takes a bleeding age. Finally i got there and popped the wheel on: Yes i know it looks like a 4x4 but believe me there was an inch of clearance between the subframe and the road and i need every inch i can get to make it useable on the roads: Later on and i'd done the same the other side: Lights fixed and everything working electrically apart from the reverse light but enough for today after 14 hours and time for a beer :D
18. Okay big update from today! :) I've been dying of man flu till this morning so needed to get some fresh air so started work on the car this morning and done 14 hours straight with a couple of hours for some food and a sit down. Okay so over the course of the week i've been buying in bits i need to get the car finished off for its MOT this week. From left to right: Tremek TKO500 Ford Sender Unit (yes it's a mustang box, bolted to a chevy in a nissan :D lol), Exhaust Manifold drilled bolts (you use safety wire between the pairs to stop them shaking free in drag racing/nascar), inline -6 fuel filter and the big white box is the two standard TT shocks and springs I was very kindly donated by Mikey Bean (cheers Mikey! :)) So 9am-12pm I spent working on the problem side, the passenger wing area. The discs were covered in 5 years of rust, the paint had started to come off the suspension and the calipers needed freeing up so i pulled the whole lot apart, cleaned everything with a wire brush, painted and reassembled:
19. Blimey this is the first time I've seen this thread! Looking good now, can't wait to see this one progress and well worth the money :hyper:
20. When you had the throttle sensor replaced did they get the voltage right? You have to loosen the screws and twist it to the right reading otherwise it causes all sorts of problems with the autobox changing to early and refusing to change gear etc. I had exactly the same problem with my old TT auto EDIT: looking at it if they did a conzult check they should have set the voltage correctly at the time hmmmm Sounds like it could be the gearbox ecu could be at fault/wrong connections when the gearbox was re-built? Did everything work before the bearbox was refurbished?
21. lol  I have 4 halfrauds ramps which i've been working under for ages on the V8 and they're brill, perfect width for the tyres and i think about £20 a pair in bright orange :D
22. Happy birthday buddy, hope you have a good one! :hyper:
23. Happy birthday buddy, and thanks for those suspension bits the other day - you're star! :hyper:
24. A Clifford Concept G2 has just fitted to the V8 project, £365 fitted from a company in bristol at my house will all sorts of funky features and CAT 1 with certificate
