Winter coming........Car cover?
I'm only just going to get mine ready to drive just before it's too cold and wet to enjoy driving it unfortunately so i'll be opting with driving VERY carefully in the V8 because I need to break the engine in and shake the car down ready for drag racing next year in March :( I'm just about to move to my new house which has no garage (for the moment) so i'll be buying a car cover. There was a company i bought some excellent cleaning products from recently and they had tailer made car covers for about the £80-100 mark and look very good for the money. I'll look up the company later on and post a link up.

600zx - Finally back to work....
Cheers guys, dying of man flu so had last night and tonight off to try and recover (got an ear infection in both ears and my throat and feel like crap) but standard shocks and springs arrive in the post tomorrow then i'll get cracking changing them over, cleaning up the discs and pads and bleeding the brakes off. Ordering a smaller inline fuel filter tonight so should mean the wing can go back on Thursday night and i'll have fitted the speedo sender by then too/hooked up the reverse light/refitted the interior too so by the time i get to the weekend we should be pretty much ready for the MOT next week. Just need to wait for that V5 to come back and organise the insurance through Adrian Flux

600zx - Finally back to work....
Just to keep you all entertained, it was raining , the targas were off but damn it's good to be back behind the wheel of a zed :punk:  Watch it in 720p for the best sound/video ( ) Still got to order the proper exhaust studs and replace the gasket (the tapping noise) and fix the one loose connection on the light but it's nearly there and feeling very much like a zed but with a stupidly horny engine under the bonnet :D

600zx - Finally back to work....
Good news everyone, i know i've been very quiet this last week but i've been going through the process of putting in an offer on buying my first house so that's taken priority on my week off. So what have i been up to on the zed? Well i've been fixing leaks, tidying wires up, making a new loom, shortening pipes, creating custom brackets to secure everything and generally getting the car ready to drop off its stands. I also had the security system fitted, i opted for a Clifford Concept G2 in the end which is a cracking kit especially the microwave sensor rather than the ultrasonic sensors and all the groovy extras you can bolt into it. So today was D day, the first time i've ever tried to drive the car under its own steam.... and it works! The weird thing is it drives like a very tightly put together zed, no rattles or squeaks, in fact so good i forgot i had no brakes and nearly rolled out into the road  Tomorrow night i'll be bleeding the brakes and cleaning off the discs before putting the new wheels on and refitting the interior then we'll be just about ready to book it in for its MOT either this coming week or the beginning of the next. Tbh i was aiming to get to santa pod this coming saturday for japshow finale but i'd rather run a little bit behind and make sure it's all working. I'll grab a video tomorrow for you all but till then thats all folks :)

A few pics of the progress
That looks absolutely mint buddy :D Will have to organise a meet before xmas to see you two - it's been waaaaaay too long :)

argh! simple sum is beating me!!! think its too early on a saturday lol
70 litres = 15.397841 Imperial gallons so divide the number of miles by the number of gallons so in this case: 205/15.397841 = 13.31mpg ouch!

Cam belt cover I fabbed at the weekend..
Bloody hell mate that's absolutely stunning! I've REALLY got to get to work on the bling side of my engine back next year for the shows to even vaguely compete with that  Well done! :hyper:

600zx - Finally back to work....
I can't remember if that was included in the price but he did talk about it over the phone so might be a bolt on feature later on. Only problem is it's going to spend most of its life in a garage so i won't really be using that feature plus it'll get annoying on campsites late at night at the shows :)

600zx - Finally back to work....
Where has the last couple of weeks gone! Last night I finally had chance to get under the car for an hour or so and fill the diff up and just had enough diff oil to do it. Also managed to finish the bracket to hold the fuel pressure regulator on the bulkhead. Just need some plastic push in screw holes for the battery area to take the power steering pot and trim and solder some wires and i'll be done in the engine bay. I've ordered an alarm to be fitted next Tuesday morning and opted for the Clifford Concept 650 mk2 G5 so i'll be Thatchams category 1 covered for insurance and then i can put the interior back in again at last and give the leather a good clean and everything a hoover. I've also sent off the V5 adjustment to bump the engine capacity up to 6273cc with a vehicle inspection report and some photos. So only insurance to do next week and after i hit the magic 30 years old on wednesday i'll be able to get a better quote from more companies fingers crossed! (about the only benefit of turning the big 3-0! lol) I'm off next week all week which i was going to use to take a break in Cornwall but it looks like the headgasket is on the way out on the coupe and i want to get the V8 finished and mot'd by friday so looks like i'll be in the garage all week! So nothing exciting to show at the moment so i'll wait until i've finished the engine bay before i post any pictures up of it complete. I'll be on it again tonight doing some wiring then get it warmed up and set the fan thermostat for the right point. If that all works and i've eliminated the leaks i'll drop it off the stands tonight and have a quick run round the driveway tomorrow night :hyper:

The Beast
Here here and well done Jason, keep up the good work buddy! :)
-
Been busy today
Hello buddy, to smooth out the wings did you knock in the bumps and fill? And what did you do to get rid of those horrible crappy welds along the edges?
-
The Beast
Not being rude buddy but starting a thread to pick fault with a members car isn't that polite. Jason has put a lot of work into the Beast over the years and it's a show car that's won alot of awards and raised awareness to the 300zx in the public eye. It's his personal taste and although I don't agree with everything he's added to the car - it's his car and a very nice one at that and i have no right to pick fault. I wasn't sure about spraying those wheels but they've worked pretty well and having seen the spoiler properly for the first time on these photos I think it goes with the whole style of the car. Well done Jason! :)

slicktop project
Too damn right :D lol The fit is almost perfect, needs a little tweakingon the front of the sides where it meets the arch (just a little shaved off) but apart from that i was amazed how good the fit was and how flexible the whole thing was to get it on. Piece of cake when you've got 2 people and a jack and looked awesome. Better start saving those pennies...... :headvswal
