Radiator cross member replacement, day one.
You just need to pull the new crossmember in tight to the frame rails using some clamps before you weld that's all. But come on FFS get welding! Summer is on it's way out!

The joy of Lego
My little boy has been playing with the normal lego for a while now and he loves it so I thought I would introduce him to the world of lego technic! Over the past weekend I went up into my parents loft and found my HUGE stash of lego from when I was a nipper, it's all the old lego technic from 1985 to 1990. I gave it all a nice wash in warm soapy water just to freshen it up and laid it out to dry. I presented him with it last night and his eyes lit up at the sight of gears sprockets chains driveshafts universal joints axles pneumatic cylinders and valves etc. It brought back some great memories playing with him and it just goes to show how timeless lego really is, it's great that all the modern day bits still interact with the old stuff. I think kids grow up too fast in the current world and have too much too young, I like to see kids be kids for as long as possible as life is tough when your an adult.....

What did you do to your zed today?
Repainted the new tweeter pods today, I wasn't 100% happy with the finish on the first attempt, I got the finish too smooth, upon looking closer at the original sail panels I noticed there was a slight texture to them as with most interior parts so I gave them another coat of filler primer but this time I didn't flat it after it dried I just sprayed it with the plasti kote matt black and it gave me a near perfect finish to the original

What did you do to your zed today?
Today I fitted all the bose speaker enclosures In the zed,up front I mounted some JL Audio C2525 components, these fitted really well in the enclosures. As the stock speaker size for the bose is a triangular shape I modified the opening The gaps around the circular mount were filled using epoxy plastic filler and then all sanded flat to give a nice tight baffle to mount the new speakers too. In the rears I fitted JL Audio C3650 which fitted with no modifications, even the screw holes matched the originals. I used some poly fill in the enclosures after some trials and it sounded better to me, I also covered the boxes in dynamat to stop the plastic walls resonating. I must say the difference in sound is night and day over the standard speaker mounts in the zed, it's now very clear and punchy and sounds like there's a sub somewhere! I'm planning on mounting a discreet sub on the left side of the boot just to bring in some low frequencies but after that the sound system is finished. :thumbup1:

Remove front number plate petition
Exactly, the idiots that sit in lane 3 doing 60mph are now forcing lorries to undertake, it's complete mayhem on the 25 now, at least with 3 lanes most drivers kept in the right lane and it was ordered.
-
Remove front number plate petition
It's a shame the cameras don't catch the :asshole: who now cruise at 60mph in lane 3 since the M25 became 4 lanes, do people NEVER look in their mirrors!

Where in essex are you Kurt?

meth mapped zed big thanks to noel aka @ turbonoz !
Any graph?
-
Remove front number plate petition
I was informed that the overhead M25 cameras were set to record at 85+mph, otherwise they would never keep up with the paperwork, it's a reliable source but not fact so that's just my understanding. Of course I never go over 70mph anyhow.....:innocent:

Z fails MOT
Washers are NOT REQUIRED here, I'm a tester art and can assure you your Mot tester is wrong in this instance. A common failure but only due to the tester not understanding the test criteria as usual. And to clarify the benefit of any doubt regarding the Mot must always be given to the customer. If you want to maintain a relationship with the garage go back and explain your situation, making a complaint to the DVSA is long winded and pointless.

Nips Build Thread: The Red Devil
Mate, you should never feel bad about giving up on something like this when you find such serious problems, and never feel bad about ignoring advice from other people, let's be honest if we all had listened to good advice over the years wouldn't we all be in a better place?. You have learned from your experience that's what counts, every restoration project has it's limits whether they be physical or financial. Claw back what you can financially and move on with a better zed mate, it WILL be a better end result. Good luck mate :clover:

Radiator cross member replacement, day one.
Be sure the inside gets some good protection too, I would think that's where the corrosion problem begins, once it's all welded in get inside with some good quality cavity wax, I used dinitrol on my zed :thumbup1:

Interior mirror replacement
My interior mirror is starting to deteriorate around the edges as usual, but as I have a mint interior in the zed it bugs the life out of me, what are the options here? Ideally a new oem would be preferable but are they still available?
