  1. You dont need to remove any of the shifter mechanism or trim in the cabin to pull the box out. From underneath the car remove the bolt connecting the bottom of the shifter to the uj and remove the bolts which hold the bracket to the box casing.........simples :thumbup1:
  2. Cars are built using pu adhesive. I assure you if used correctly it will hold very well indeed, but it has to be applied in the right places. I didnt use any on mine.
  3. I think its more to do with how the skirts are fitted that cause the rust, most people bond them on all around which doesnt allow the water to drain out the bottom. My stillen skirts have no fixings at the wheel arches at all. The rusting sills is more of a design flaw from new, rusting from the inside out and the wheel arches have no seam sealar at the joint so its another point for water ingress.
  4. The hole is round all the way i believe, the sensor has a rectangular ferrite core wound with copper wire, u do need to try and not push any material down and wedge it against the mag pick up ring, ideally pull the driveshaft back out from the hub and give yourself some room to work.
  5. These sensors do like to stick in the hubs, breaking the sensor up in the hole is really your only option, the sensor pick up is a magnetic ring on the back of the wheel bearing so you shouldnt damage that. Just takes a bit of time and patience. Clean the hole up once removed and put a bit of anti seize grease on the new sensor. I do hope its the drivers side your doing as your pic is ref the passenger or left side.
  6. The issueing test station can correct the wrong mileage within 7 days of the test. After that its more difficult but still possible by contacting the DVSA. But be real here, mistakes get made, theres nothing stopping you checking your mot cert before you leave the test station.
  7. I have the stillen front lip as you've probably seen and this fits extremely well and am very happy with it. I did also purchase the stillen skirts and door fillers from mjp which have been painted and fitted but I'm still not 110% sure I'm going to keep these on the car. My car will be having a total strip down and full re spray soon and I have to be totally happy with how it looks before I commit. It's all about the angle from which you are looking at the car, some angles make certain mods look great but from another angle it can look very awkward......
  8. Then you have no reason to be put out by an advisory notice on your test certificate. The tester is simply doing his job...... Alot of customers choose to have their vehicle serviced prior to the mot and this is good practice as its this service which proves road worthiness. Not the actual mot itself. It all depends on how clean you want your mot history to be. Some people arent bothered one bit.others like it to be clean.
  9. The benefit of a pre mot inspection is that it can highlight potential problems which allows them to be sorted before the whole thing becomes "official". It allows time for any repairs to be made (more than the ten day rule etc). It is a more thorough inspection than the mot itself would be. And it woukd keep the advisory box empty which is why this thread was started if the advisories were rectified pre test.
  10. The DVSA that runs the uk mot system have over the past few years invested heavily in bringing the uk mot system into line with the EU. basically they wanted a system whereby an mot done anywhere in the EU was valid anywhere in the EU. I wonder what impact brexit will bring in future for the uk mot scheme....... Sorry if going off topic here.
  11. There is no failure option for washers not fitted...it is physically impossible for a tester to fail for "not fitted" we dont have the ability to write a failure of our own. Would be interesting to see the failure option they have used on a test cert.
  12. Assuming NI test to the same criteria as the uk then that is simply wrong.
  13. As for the advisory system you must understand that we as testers are required to all test from the same set of regs but sometimes the human element does play a part and things can go wrong as with anything. Dont be surprised if when taking your car for a retest at a different test centre to where the original test was done that it may fail or pass on different things. One tester may see or feel something the other did not. Always stick to the original test centre if you can. Even though different testers at the same place are within their rights to fail a vehicle on something else depending on the original failure items. An mot pass is not evidence of a roadworthy vehicle in any way. And dont forget if you want to keep your mot history clean then simply book an mot pre inspection and have all the work done prior to a test. Dont view your mot as a means of giving your vehicle a full inspection l....... it isnt :thumbup1:
  14. Just to clarify that vehicles fitted with HID lamps DO NOT require washers or self levelling systems fitted as a rule. Only if fitted then they are required to work.this applies to HID fitted as standard or retrofit.
  15. I saw thus zed last night parked in the sea life centre car park. Nice looking zed with polished stock rims.
  16. Should have gone with the 350z brembo, ream out the bolt holes. Job done. I have this setup with DBA5000 2 piece discs and it will stop hard and fast again and again without any fade. More than enough stopping power without upsetting the bias.
  17. Had the same email craig. Im game for this.
  18. I also need to modify the throttle cover and see if i can get it to fit with the brace
  19. I didnt really think it would make any difference on the rear andrew as the top of the suspension is bolted on to a box section running across the width of the car. Maybe it is something i should consider if you feel it does make a noticeable difference.:thumbup1:
  20. Excellant work as usual but just remember if the white halo is the only means of a position light then this setup is an mot fail
  21. I fitted the carbing strut brace and give the old girl a thorough clean. - - - Updated - - - Damn this picture rotating thing! There must be a way to sort this?.....
  22. Are u able to bring your plaques you made darren?
