  1. The rear lights are a key feature of the rear of the Z, without those, it loses its identity. As for larger OEM wheels, I need to pull my finger out and get a set sent over to Poland to have the faces machined to be engineered into 18" split rims.
  2. I’m writing this thread to apologise to the forum for a recent outburst. It was particularly unpleasant as it was on new member’s thread. I’m not apologising for the reasons however, merely the outburst. Jeff, I have nothing against you, I sincerely apologise for the unwarranted outburst, it was out of character and out of line. I generally don’t care and usually piss taking is water off my back and I give as good as I get. Something that riles me however is being accused of something incorrect in plain view. Anyway, it’s done now, water under the bridge, I’m sorry for how I over reacted and apologies to those that witnessed it. This has been created entirely off my own back and is all my own thought, I decided to take my ass off the forum for a few days to let my piss simmer. Consider myself ‘cooled’ and in the fridge! The club and its members have played a huge part in my life and as such hold it all dear to my heart which was why I feel particularly bad about it all. I hope everyone has an awesome Christmas where ever you are and whatever you’ll be doing!
  3. To be honest, I'm done with the forum with people like this. I'm outta here. Sorry folks, but I've seen this go on and on and one.
  4. Troll? Oh shut up you infuriating man, that's your main game on here. Yes you might be helpful, but you wind every one up and create arguments over absolutely nothing as above and that bloody Keith Chegwin thread. Haven't you got anything better to do in sunny Portugal? You seem to spend your life on here giving nothing but one-upmanship classes as of late over absolutely everything and everyone is noticing it. You might be very helpful in some things, but you're nauseatingly tiresome at the same time. You seem to have this holier-than-though attitude and never back down even when you're being a nause. Yes, this might seem cheek coming from me, but I was all for electing you to take on the forum's most annoying member. I think you would have won hands down over Alic, at least he's not a nob about it! I'm done now, say what you want.
  5. You still didn't answer the question. There is nothing misguided in there. There is no suggestion he not use a chip. The OP is not a cretin, it's an open thread and the information is there and clear to strongly suggest using a chip. It's healthy to climb out of one's own ass once in a while.
  6. That's was a black one wasn't it? I remember seeing one on ebay.de, it wasn't that great judging by the pictures so this red one is a better idea!
  7. Looks like you didn't even read it judging by the time time stamp. ;)
  8. Where does it suggest anything of the sort? Saying someone knows folk that run a standard chip on a UK car is in no way suggesting that he run one as can be seen in the rest of the tread.
  9. ....in fact it still has Michigan licence plates on it. I call BS!
  10. They're don't, that's a US spec car.
  11. Not quite sure what that has in relation to what I said; those with stock fuel maps are running EBCs.
  12. Yes - advised. I know a couple of members running standard chip with higher boost pressures, but they're UK fueling maps - I don't know enough about them to give any information about. I believe AndrewG is/was running a standard map on his Z and he's increased the boost. Might be worth talking with him about that particular detail.
  13. A chip won't really see anymore power per se, but it will make the power reliable and efficient. Most cost effective is probably a rolling road in terms of getting the most out of what you have. You'll see better returns with a better quality map and EBC setup. It depends what you call 'value'. A generic chip on 14PSi could yield 350 as an example, whereas a correctly set up car and EBC on a RR could yield 10-15% more. But I'd probably only really go that route with larger injectors. 740cc injectors you could run around 17-18PSi on standard turbos if you had all the other supporting modifications. It's the injectors that are the biggest weakness with the VG followed quickly by the size of the intake system. A stock engine and turbos can make very healthy power providing it's done correctly.
  14. 14psi you only really need boost jets, a modified map, intake and a decent exhaust providing your engine is in tip top condition. If you want to go further with a higher quiality setup, upgrade the SMICs, an EBC and a rolling road tune. The list can go on and on depending on how far you want to go with 14psi.....like 2.5" intercooler pipework etc.
  15. Not sure what your budget is, but there are plenty of quality split rim wheels on ebay in decent fitment. These are interesting for example. 10" rears @ ET40 for example would give a really tough look. The fronts could use a 10mm spacer but that would give you a nice agressive stance. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ATS-Set-Of-Staggered-Alloy-Wheels-for-Toyota-Soarer-or-LS400-PCD-5-x-114-3/173003399345?hash=item2847ce60b1:g:fuMAAOSw-09aHSkN
  16. Yeah, they'll fit no problem. Offset is a little weak though, but they'll look fine if not a little skinny.
  17. Is that a square set up? Fronts same as rears?
  18. That's width not offset. Neither have any meaning without the other in terms of fitment. You need both figures to understand fitment.
  19. You had what filled to make smooth?
  20. I met Mike years ago at a Z event in the US and he does go to some ZCon events. Very interesting and the whole Z scene stateside hold him in high regard. I'll find out whether he'll be attended next year's event in Atlanta. ;) I'll book flights for that soon and will give you the detail.
  21. You'd like to think so, but as an example, the R33 GTR's official curb-weight is about 100kg lighter than a 2+2 TT which makes it around the same as a 2+0 TT.
  22. I think it also comes down to weight. VG is heavier, quite a bit heavier. Some 80lbs (5-6 stone) in fact over an RB26DETT. I believe the 2JZ is around the same weight as the RB. There's a lot more iron in the VG block than in an inline block. I still prefer the VG though, in particular the sound with a high quality dual exhaust system. That link doesn't really prove anything to be honest, it's actually a little spurious; we don't know what they're comparing, what engine types, what turbo technology. It's an 'in general' and 'maybe' observation.
  23. Correct! This is a desperately ugly car, in particular from the back. It's a Mitsubishi Carisma with a giant growth on the boot. Don't get me started on the front end or interior, its only saving grace is that lovely Momo steering wheel. Never understood the visual hype over these things. If it wasn't known to have such excellent mechanical, it would be a laughing stock, they've aged soooooo badly. If I were to pick a similar car from the era, it would be the P1. It has a better balance of looks with performance than the grotesque Evo 4,5 and 6. The 1,2 and 3 were pretty dire to look at also.
  24. ......my original comment is more of a facetious comment. I'm not a lover of the GTS-T, in particular the R33 version, but that's based on a purely subjective view that they're bland, an also-ran and a favourite of the woefully tiresome drift scene. I don't doubt their mechanicals, but as a unit, they don't excite me whatsoever. :)
