  1. I've done quite a bit of research into this and totally agree with what you're saying and it's something I've been saying for years if you look back at other threads about this. Also, clear corners use the old style LEDs and as a result, each LED can be visible. If a PCB was used with the micro SMD LEDs (or 'LED Beads'), this would also look much better. LED spacing would be more concentrated and get a more even glow, so you wouldn't notice the gaps between each LED. The trouble is, SMD LEDs need to go through a 'pick and place machine' before being passed through a solder bath (very quick to manufacture). The regular ones are hand fitted and soldered (which is extremely time consuming which is why the clear-corners' LED lights are so expensive) . Basically you'd need to find a company that has a solder bath and a pick and place machine who can also make you a PCB. There are quite a few companies in the UK that can build you PCBs and populate them to your design. It's not something you can do yourself though. Again, it's something I've been looking at. I've got quite a few contacts through my job and could probably get one designed and built, but it wouldn't be cheap unless I had a large batch of them made and sold them. I've just been lazy and haven't gotten round to designing it yet. I also need to pull apart a set of lights to see what space there is between diffuser, light backing and bezel. These are the conventional old style LEDs that Clear corners mount to their boards. They are quite large and cumbersome and you can't get high concentrations of them due to design. You can see here that their stand off height is quite big and they take up a lot of room. They also can't be packed together much closer than this. SMD LEDs can be sourced that are so small, you can barely see them. They can be populated to a high degree of concentration (close together) and are extremely compact which means they add very little 'height' to the PCB. You'd basically loose the hard edges that are apparent in clear corners' style rear lights and you'd probably be able to manufacture a really wide strip that would sit beyond the edges of the light bezels, so they'd illuminate the same area that regular standard lights do. Gives you and idea of what they look like mounted. These can be packed closer together too, so they'd butt up to each other. These are very small and because of that they can be packed very close to each other, when illuminated will give a much more even glow. This shows how close together you can get them. This has been hand soldered....but you can get even smaller SMD LEDs that need tweezers to pick up. Here's a better photo showing an SMD LED matrix. Gives you an idea as to how small they can go and the design I am talking about. You would still require the regular diffuser on top of these to completely even out light dispersal. Gives you an idea of size.... this is NOT the smallest either. This gives you a better idea of how small they can go. For guidance, a 1 dime coin is roughly the same size as our 5p piece.
  2. Aftermarket pedals are rubbish IMO. First thing I did was rip the Razo pedals off that mine came with. Ugly and awkward things!
  3. Vellside are exceptional quality. Best workmanship and materials of ANY Z32 exhaust I've ever seen.
  4. Yeah, loosely translated it means. 'GrossspoilerthatonlyE.Hondacouldsmashupwiththehundredhandslap'!
  5. ...and they look better than the CTR. Better build quality too. Interior plastics on the CTR aren't great, nor is the actual appearance of the interior.
  6. Good car the Leon and under rated. They haven't quite got into the hands of the chavs yet. Their easy option is to just head for the CTR.
  7. It's a 4 cylinder NA! Not many 4 cylinders sound good. About the last of the decent sounding 8vs was the old Cavalier SRi/Astra GTE 2.0 8v engines. Sounded infinitely better than the 16v. Newer style 4 cylinders sound so raspy. Turbos take away a little bit of that and refine out the exhaust note (which is why TTZ32s sound much nicer and more refined than NAZ32). Saying that, Evos don't exactly sound nice do they.
  8. Oh, so it's not as bad as those vile mechano alloy wing bic razor blade things. But this looks like it's been hewn from a solid sheed of MDF!
  9. They sound 20x worse when you hear them racing around town. Horrible droany raspy things they are.
  10. He out working on the car then??
  11. Definitely NOT a Scarab bumper. Looks more like a modified Bomex one.
  12. Have you ever heard a CTR with a big exhaust on them? They sound utterly horrific. Really nasty. If you're gonna get one, a stock one is best. There are loads and loads of chavved up ones about.
  13. Black wheels suck. I've driven one, they do handle well, but you have to really scream them to get the power out of them. They also look like a breadvan. I'd have an Astra Coupe Turbo over one of those even though the Astra doesn't handle as well as stock, but there's decent tuning potential with the X20LET.
  14. There is still love in humanity. You'd begin to believe otherwise as of late, but stuff like that is very touching.
  15. I do like the sportive SE Astra vans. I think they are without doubt the best looking small van on the market at the moment and the best equipped. I had a brand new MK5 Astra about 3 years ago. Had the design model and it had half leather seats in it, and everything else that the Sportive had. Great looking van and it'll drive like the Estate which is a cracking drive for what it is.
  16. White is the new black! I saw photos of (I think) the Geneva motorshow and most of the car manufacturers were using white cars on their stands. Seemingly it's becoming very popular. Can't beat a nice crisp white. VERY eye catching.
  17. If you're going to paint it any colour, might as well do it a Vauxhall colour that the van was never available in. Seems a little pointless changing the colour on something so new when you can simply ask Vauxhall to search the country for a Sportive in Silver with that spec on which I am sure there are some. Arden Blue would be a colour I'd do it.
  18. Just seems a shame to repaint a brand new car/van unless it's company/livery type reasons. It's a top spec van as well. I'd be tempted to get an Irmscher grille for it and a set of VXR wheels.
  19. Why don't you just order another colour van? I'm guessing it's second hand?
  20. Just don't let Mikey Bean anywhere near it! :wack:
  21. Autocad is awful to use!
  22. I work for a company that manufacture components for the electronics industry, I'm a business development manager and work with companies such as Panasonic, Sony, Toshiba etc and design in our products. I work with their design engineers mainly. But we have our own design engineers for products we produce.
  23. I have (well the viewer anyway). My design engineers have the full copy of it. Good product. :)
  24. I do. It's a powdery look. Similar to the front of the skirt. It's just a little 'dry'.
