  1. The thing with the Countach is that it's every kid's dream car, along with the F40. It was and still is a poster-car as it's a nuts car and it looks amazing, but is it pretty? That's questionable in my opinion. I think their 'prettiest' car is the Gallardo. It might not be the fastest most expensive and most exhilarating supercar in the world, but I believe it is one of the prettiest and I really do mean that. It harks back to Ferrari classics like the F355 with is sexy shape and lines. It has such a gorgeous pert appearance to it, like a pair of breasts from an athletic 18 year old college girl. You just wanna go and play with it!
  2. Well I've just reported the M5 areas to the Highways Agency as it's getting really dangerous. The lower level of the split level section northbound between Clevedon and Portishead is as bad as a poorly surface rural road...and you're doing 70mph on it. It's actually kinda scary in sections and little generally phases me on roads. This section here. You have the raised southbound carriageway and about 100 yards up from this photo, the surface across all 3 lanes has completely broken up. I am absolutely gobsmacked they haven't even started any touch-up repairs yet. I mean, I'm driving over it in my 3 year old car with nice new suspension, not my 23 year old lowered sports car. Heaven help anyone with a sports car.
  3. This is it. The motorways are as bad as the side roads now. They've suffered years of under investment as it is, so there's no wonder they're in a bad state, but they're SO bad, they're dangerous, they throw the car about something rotten!
  4. What is it about double figures? I swear the 'nice' threshold is 10 degrees. The minute it gets to that magic number, going outside seems pleasant, my heating doesn't trip on every 10 minutes and things are just more pleasant. 9 degrees feels so much colder, heating trips on all the time. 10 degrees seems to be that 'magic' figure. I can't really tell the difference between 2 and 4 degrees, both seem frigid as anything, like wise with 26 and 28....but I can always feel when it's 10 or above. Anyone else notice that? 10 seems to be that noticeable point.
  5. 'Ok'? LOL I bet you wouldn't turn one down if it were offered to you. ;) They're pretty awesome machines and that's a recognised fact and TBH, everyone says that the newer the car, the less the flare and the passion. When the Countach came out, everyone harked back toe Miura. I do agree to a certain extent with you, but the Countach is actually a pig of a car. It looks and sounds great. It's supposed to be absolutely horrid to drive though. Strange uncomfortable driving position, unreliable, poor vision. You could say that's part of their charm, but I dunno about that.
  6. Guess mine will need doing in April. Can't even remember when it's due actually. I'll get it MOTd next month! Eeeek! Spring isn't far chaps! Time to think about getting your lovely ladies out of the hibernaculum! Mine really could use a clean. I didn't put the dust sheet on this year, so it has a thin layer of dust all over it. My only worry is the absolutely horrendous state of the roads. They're in the worst state I've EVER seen them. The M5 south of here is just trash. Huge chunks missing from it to the point where large sections are missing down to the previous surfaced layer. I really hope they start repairing them soon as it's not even nice driving on it in my daily!
  7. Oh, my garage is wide enough to crack both doors open to the first notch on the check-strap, but it's just easier, my garage is as dry as anything, but it's quite nice to keep the interior all vented too.
  8. Haha! Of course it has! Actually the reason they're off is because I'm fitting new speakers and doing some wiring, it's easier to get in and out with the windows dropped and the targas out.
  9. I've driven an R8 too, the earlier V8 one. Out of that and the Gallardo, whilst the R8 was awesome, it just didn't leave me feeling 'special' like the Lamborghini did. Having experienced both, there's no question I'd go for the Gallardo, if only for the looks. The R8 looks cool, but kinda reminds me of a flabby TT. Actually, the friend that had the R8, he sold it for a Gallardo! Just a more awesome feeling in the Gallardo.
  10. My targas have been off for about a month....
  11. You see, I love the newer stuff too, but for different reasons. Having been in a Gallardo and being a huge fan of its design, it's the modern day supercar I'd shoot for. I borrowed a friend's Ferrari California when I was in Missouri last year and I did like it, great fun to drive, but I questioned its physical appearance, especially from the front. I used to be a bit of a Ferrari fan, but the stuff they've brought out over the past 10 years or so really has been pretty strange looking (in a non-attractive way). They certainly aren't sexy like they were in the pre-2000s ie, F355, GTO, F40 etc. The Gallardo has a beautiful shape and when I first saw the Aventador at Supercar Sunday in Los Angeles back in June, I went crazy for it. From EVERY angle it looks awesome. Some cars, you can pick out an angle where they don't quite look right, with this, as with the Gallardo, it looked perfect from every aspect. To me, this is the modern day Countach with its rakish lines and overwhelming presence (and I generally can't stand black wheels either!). I stood here looking at this for quite some time actually from every angle. When the owner drove it away, the sounds was just fabulous!
  12. If any of you have external speakers/boom box wired up to your PC/Table/Phone whatever, then I emplore you to play this on FULL VOLUME! I can absolutely guarantee that it will get your trouser snake wriggling! The static rev is a little annoying, but you just wait for the drive-by. PLEASE PLAY THIS FULL VOLUME off a sound system - you'll truly thank me!
  13. No, it takes no brain power to write something phonetically, that's the point! I have an odd brain anyway - most of the time it fails to engage. I need a new one.
  14. *****cks. I speak French too - I have no idea what happened there. EPIC Brain-fart moment! Putain de merde!
  15. Generally I find, UK door glass isn't all that great. Because of the condition of the roads/salt/grit and the fact that most cars are left outside, debris, shit and grit get caught in the seals and that's the start of window damage. Make sure your seals are clean and grit free and try not to wind the window up and down if you're driving it in the winter or wet. Shit gets flicked up by other cars etc. As you know, mine lives in the garage all winter, overnight and when it's raining, so it rarely gets any debris on it. Few flies on the front end and the odd bird crap and that's about it! The glass I took out of mine, the original bronze tint was also very very clean and scratch free. I sold it on to TonyB actually along with my old rear screen and t-top glass.
  16. Nope, but it was from a low mileage JDM breaker. It is as near as damn immaculate. Even better than the passenger side which is also reasonably good. The first set of glass bits I bought had a lot of witness scratches on them. At first it didn't bother me, but the drivers' side was so bad, I threw it in the trash. I replaced all the nylon rollers on them too.
  17. You'll need the T-tops too as UK and sapphire blue / late spec JDM cars had blue t-top glass. :) My car has a UK rear screen, UK passenger window, JDM quarter windows and drivers window and a brand new screen! LOL. I basically looked around for the very best condition I could find. Lots of UK cars and higher mileage cars have nasty scoring marks on the door glass.
  18. PM Gio, he'll know how to check it on late-spec cars. I am not too ofay with the TPSs on them I'm afraid.
  19. UK glass FTW! Look at the blue-glow! So much nicer than the fag-stain look of bronze tint! ;) You know you wanna do THE LOT! ;)
  20. FULL service required. Reckon it's the TPS too. Got a multimeter?
  21. I've seen some terrible attempts at repairs and home-made modifications etc to 300zxs, but outside of the car-ring, this is probably the funniest thing I've come across. I was sat at the end of Myrtle Avenue near Heathrow watching the planes land before going there to pick up a friend. As I was sat watching what was incoming, I noticed this green gate thing to my right. It had all manner of clumsy welding on it. Just as I was about to glance back over at the undercarriage of an approaching 747, something caught my eye. A shape....a shape of something I recognised, but it didn't compute as it was where it shouldn't have been. Then I realised what it was and why it was there! Yes, that IS a brake pad, it's been welded to the frame to make it stronger! You could called it 'ingenous'. I call it low brow as I saw the state of the rest of the welding on this gate. Well, it had me chuckling anyway!
