  1. I love buying new OEM stuff, even when I don't know quite what it is! I'm due to replace my dash soon as I have found a replacement in near-pristine condition. Mine is ok, but this new one is VERY good. As a result, I thought it high time to replace the AC/hazard carcass and the screws. Whilst I was looking at the parts on F.A.S.T, I noticed another part 25267-40P10 which I assumed mine 'should' have. I don't know what it is, so I just ordered it anyway. Does anyone know what it's for? I can't quite work it out. I'm picking it up from Z1 when I fly over there in a couple of weeks so don't have it with me to 'try'.
  2. I love having the belts on the doors - it gives that pillar a sense of worth! I have completely retro-fitted a S2 interior into my S1 but retained ALL the original seat belt positions as I prefer the lap belts in the back too. The problem is with that though, whilst you can modify the door cards, you're left with cut outs in the rear - I solved that by sourcing a set of US-spec 2+2 rear quarter panels and used the lowers with the JDM series 1 uppers to give me a full S2 interior with original seat belt locations with no cut outs at all. :) Took me ages to find the rear quarters though in the US as they only made S2 with the belts in their original locations for about a year and the 2+2 is not that popular there. One panel I found in a breakers yard in Los Angeles and the other I found on ebay from a guy in Pennsylvania. The power of the internet is strong! :) ...and with my new Mondo wheel and Arubadave Z logo, I'm really happy with how it looks now.
  3. That's the standard pleated guard. I removed mine as I use my car in dry weather, but it can be utilised. A lot have either been removed or perished (they split and separate from the bumper)
  4. The A'pexi is not a washable filter iirc and it's also dry, so the only maintenance is to take it off and vacuum it it once a year. It would be advisable to replace if you use the car as a daily and in all weathers. Mine simply gets dusty
  5. Had my A'pexi in for about 10 years now I think. No problems at all. On the very rare occasions I have been caught out in rain, I've also never encountered an issue. I wouldn't go back to a stock filter, they're quite restrictive. If I had a Z where I had to use it in the wet, I'd make a simple splash-pan for the filter.
  6. It will be sooner now that you don't have to spend time fitting that bumper extension. ;)
  7. Nothing wrong with bumper add ons and side skirts, the one pictured however, with all due respect, is not appealing to the eye. :D They do look better with just the stone chip smoothed and nothing else. But of course, it's your car, fit what you want. :)
  8. Attach it to your nearest skip - no nails, glue or screws required. Easy peasy. :)
  9. Potentially for me too depending or not whether I'm in the country.
  10. Part of owning an old niche vehicle is taking an interest in its value IMO. Some might not agree with me, but I think a majority probably will. It's not necessarily because we'd all like to see a profit, it's more the fact that generally the car is getting noticed more and its appeal is increasing, that's what I like about appreciating classic values, it reflects on the public perception. There are many reasons why we own these cars and this is one of them whether one likes it or not - the over riding factor is it is also VERY important for insurance purposes. They don't need to be garage queens to be clean and tidy, but you do have to be careful where and when you use something that's so old and doesn't have the construction or protection of new vehicles. My Z gets used a lot in summer months and taken on quite epic road trips, but I chose not to drive it in the wet or the damp when you can't use the full potential of the car putting it at risk from collision and also corrosion, especially in the winter - you may as well pour hydrochloric acid all over it and pelt it with rocks. I'd sooner get my kicks out of it on a nice hot summer's day. :D As for the majority of Zs being rusty and knackered, Jeff raises a valid point, however as Chis has said, there are an increasing number of restored or clean examples appearing on the forum. Whilst I may have agreed with that statement a few years, ago and there are still a LOT of rotten horrors about, it's becoming less and less of a 'thing'. So many have been broken up for spares, left to rot in fields etc, those that are on the road and being cared for are becoming more prevalent in terms of ratio. There are far less turds around then there use to be when the market was flooded with rotten heaps or cars that had bits of fibreglass and plastic nailed to them in a feeble attempt at making them look 'better', all those cars did was drive down the values and also the perception.
  11. Not sure I can see them going that high to be honest. 240zs haven't really reached £40k yet. I think in about 5 years time we'll see very clean examples go for £15k-17k, realistically, the £19k UK one is unlikely to sell at that price (although I know what a certain wide-arch shorty went for), you can put whatever price tag you want on a car, but whether it will achieve it is another matter. Over inflating values can work on some things, but there still isn't quite the market for that with the Z32 although it definitely has reached retro/classic status. What I have noticed is that in the last 5 years, their values have doubled (they had reached the bottom of their depreciation curve in around 2010 where they flatlined for a few years). Regularly for example, you'd see 'fairly' good Z32 TT manuals going for around £3,500, they're now going for around £6k. You can still get sheds for a lot less as well as NAs and autos, even their values have increased slightly. To add, even though 300zxs have started coming back into the UK as the grey import market for these cars has started to come alive again, their values have also gone up in Japan too, especially on the later models.
  12. I started looking at Honda NSXs and 911 Turbos (996) about 5 or 6 years ago before I became ultra-attached to my Z. The prices of both cars have skyrocketed, the NSX especially. When I was looking they were sub £20k and you could get a reasonable one for that money, now, to find a good one, a manual too, you're looking at £30k+, the 911 996 Turbo got down to around £15k, but that's now mid 20s (however it's not as exclusive as the Z32) I don't think I'd get the value in terms of performance over the increase in cost, however they are both a better drive. I've come to love the 300zx even more than before and I think they've 'becoming of age' which has made me want to hold on to it even more. They've almost become 'full circle' as the horrendously modified and poor examples are gradually diminishing. Their appeal has increased as a result, not just for me, but for the general public I think.
  13. Nice work! Big stereos have never been my thing and they look a little oxymoronic in a sports car. I had a sub and amp in mine for a few years and junked it. A good quality 4 speaker system is all you need. LOL @ the previous owner's wiring - what a mess!
  14. Have fun! It was almost a year ago that Joel, AndrewG and myself drove down to the south of France and back as 'the tricolor'! Some of us are contemplating Monaco, Milan, Turin and Switzerland next year.
  15. As above, no such thing as a UK 2-seater.
  16. Nice turnout, cars look great! Would love to go to the next one! :)
  17. They always are on pearl cars. Nissan only ever painted the engine bays and door shuts in the base colour. Looks like it's likely had a blow over though, however likely in the original colour too.
  18. That's all been sorted now! :) I kinda just threw the subharness on, but it's now been hardwired in thanks to AndrewG. :) Post away, I can't ever remember it looking that bad! - - - Updated - - - Polished off! All gone! :)
  19. Lovely colour! Is it the QN0 colour as found on the 95+ Z32s?
  20. Something like that!
  21. Nice white - which one did you go for?
  22. Was that before or after the Exxon Valdez parked on my driveway? :p
  23. I get ridiculed for my new OEM bolt fetishes! ....most folk think I'm nuts.... :/ there's a pun there somewhere.
