winter tyres....
Hi Guys, MOT has gone through today, and failed only on 2 rear tyres, no advisories wohoo! What do people think about these winter tyres?... They seem pretty good value compared to my local tyre shop who was asking £220 for some avons... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251727100842?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Best regards, William.

Stalling and lumpy power steering ?!
Okay so probably not power steering... Speedo works. Cold start idle is around 1.5k rpm, dropping to 750 after a few minutes. it does drop lower if I used the power steering when stationary though. The battery light came on due to it stalling I think, so I imagine I must have still had the clutch pushed down as I was at quite low speeds! Battery is quite new.. No other quirks though. Apart from I sometimes get a drip of water on my head, but that is probably unrelated ;) haha perhaps it was just a random thing where auto choke had turned off so revs were lower but engine was completely up to temp, so it stalled from the strain from the power steering, and then was wouldn't start again due to flooding the engine? :s

Stalling and lumpy power steering ?!
Thanks Med, that sounds promising then I will look in to that. Sorry for not getting back to you about the car yet, still haven't been able to sell grans place so been unable to move forward with any plans. Have you found a buyer yet?

Stalling and lumpy power steering ?!
Hello, Okay so random thing happened today... Driving down my road from a cold start, go to turn into a road and the engine cuts out. Now I may have had my foot down on the clutch but can't be sure. All I know for sure is that half way around the corner my battery light comes on. So I go to start the engine again and it turns over but doesn't Fire!! Try a few times to start it and it doesn't Fire at all - as if there was no fuel or no spark. This car has ALWAYS started on the button every time so this is odd. I sit there for a minute or so with the hazards on and then it starts up again. Turn after driving it all seems fine again but the revs seem to drop a bit when I turn the wheel and the power steering feels a bit lumpy or laggy - stationary if I turn the wheel it takes a second or two before you feel a jerk or resistance and it effects the revs a lot. I don't remember it feeling like this before so wondering if the power steering pump / fluid may be the issue?.... Any ideas? It is he not starting again after stalling that really bothers me!

black leather electric seats front and rear £120
Hi guys, changed my leathers for the original blue cloth with the scope to get them cleaned up so these are available. Both fronts are electric. Drivers side completely working. passenger possibly has an intermittent rear motor (could be wire etc) but then again could be working fine.... I don't use it so just going on a vague memory of someone mentioning it once. back and forward etc still work for sure. Bit of wear as shown in photos but no rips. bought for £150 last year, selling for £120 for a club member. Location Southampton. Happy to meet towards London and Birmingham due to traveling a lot. no postage. Photos: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NISSAN-300ZX-Z32-FAIRLADY-ELECTRIC-LEATHER-SEATS-NO-RIPS-/191399343262?

running cost query
I am making this move now too and getting rid of the daily e46 320D. I get 600 miles form the BMW for £80. But the zed sits unused and gets sad and lonely, so I have started my 50Mile daily commute in the Manual TT zed. for £40 (at £1.25 per Liter) I get 165 Miles, And get 330 miles from a full £80 tank. So a fill up gets me a week commuting and some weekend fun. costs me around £13 a day, compared to £6.50 a day in the bmw. Also the zed is £20 a month of tax, compared to £15.75 a month for the BMW. then again the general running costs of two cars leaves me only slightly down each month by commuting in the zed. So I am happy. BUTTTT... the zed is so much nicer to commute in. What a way to start and end the day!

Alibaba
Hey mate, I used to import loads of stuff every month from there. The trick is establishing a good relationship with the supplier you want. There is an alibaba messenger thing which they all use where you chat, and you can pretty quickly tell which suppliers will be good and which wont. Get some quotes through, and go from there. I used to pay via paypal for the protection. Still in touch with one of my suppliers after a few years, trying to negotiate the manufacture and import of various Zed parts such as double din center console, and 99spec bumpers with a couple of factories my contact knows!... I used to do it as an individual, not through a business. Just speak to the sellers directly, get photos of the products etc, then get them to invoice you and voila. :)

Complete transplant - Where to do this? Parts/Car Proposition...
Hi Mate, what bits were you interested in from it?

Complete transplant - Where to do this? Parts/Car Proposition...
Yeah it was indeed - I sold it to him a few months ago and then bought it back last week :) He really didn't market it very well though, as It had been a 1 owner since import, low miles, well kept example without any rot, with some nice extras! I am chuffed to have it back though, sorry you missed out ;) The garage at the moment.... So, I have had some nice messages from people who have made helpful suggestions, and I don't really intent to get involved in the trader debate. I respect that there are probably some rules on here about only touting for business if you are a registered paid trader which is fair, but at the same time this is an excellent community of enthusiasts who are always seen to be helping each other, and I put this thread out on the chance that there might be some kind of opportunity that would benefit other members out here too, whether they be traders or not. In that light I don't think Steve should have any bad words said against him as he has helped me out in the past with advice and free parts, and I would like to do the same for him and other members out there, specially in light of the engine issues Steve has been having recently, I did think of him when I posted this thread. My two cents anyway. Best regards, William.

Complete transplant - Where to do this? Parts/Car Proposition...
Hi guys, I have now bought my old Zed back (Blue 94 Jap TT Manual import). The engine and gearbox are all really good with around 70k on the clock, pulls like a rocket, doesn't smoke at all, but I am interested in bigger power... So Medallion Man has his built silver Zed for sale, and it has a forged block with all the ancillaries, pipes, clutch etc. Ready for 500bhp or so which is perfect, but the chassis and tubs have gone... So I am playing with the logistics of buying it, and swapping out engine and box into my baby along with some new Tubs . I have a bit of money on the way so buying the car wouldn't be a problem (convincing the girlfriend I need to have three cars might be trickier, but she will come around). My issues would be the best way of getting everything swapped over and ready for a tune with Noel. Would any places like zedworld or any guys here have the facilities that could aid with this? Of course I am happy to pay for the process. The idea would be to swap my good parts back into the Silver zed and sell it as a project needing welding done for MOT, or do this work myself and sell it on to recoup a bit of the lost cash. Although if someone else had some ideas or could use the car for parts after doing a swap then I would be happy to do a deal with someone. Like I say the engine etc in mine is a brilliant solid block with good tubs. Always very well maintained with only 20k miles in the last 10 years. Best regards, William.

Jdm Central locking new fob
Hi Stephen, haha thanks - I did find Jeffs thread and it does look brilliant as a fix, but I am wondering if I can get the central locking working via the fob as a mean time fix as using the key is a bit old school these days and leaves me open to ridicule on the streets :p

Jdm Central locking new fob
Hello! my old zed is probably coming home this weekend but the driver side lock barrel has snapped as they do. It is a 94 Import and has central locking, but never had a working fob. Although it does have a spare fob that the old owner gave me with it - he said it needed programming.... I have done some searches but not worked out what this means or how it is done, could anyone shed some light? Once I am back from my holidays this week I will be looking at the black built zed and also my old blue zed to choose which one to buy and hopefully have something sorted by the weekend. It is swaying towards the blue one now though as I know it and it is half the price of the other - I can then build it up to the spec I want over time - forged motor etc :) Best, William

Boost controller and mapping - how what why?
Great stuff thanks for the heads up Noz! Also explains the sellers ambiguity when asking questions about the current bhp and map!

Boost controller and mapping - how what why?
He is based in Norwich, so not close... Unfortunately I am going on holiday monday for two weeks. Had my offer accepted yesterday, but all my time is tied up with carting the girlfriend around and sorting bits before we leave. SOOO, probably mid - end sept for a viewing. If I get comfortable enough with the spec of the car I am happy to leave a deposit with him without a viewing, but just want to be certain about achievable power!! Otherwise I would buy back my blue one which is in ringwood and considerably cheaper!! Having pics sent this weekend hopefully as a lot of the ebay photos were outdated. - - - Updated - - - ... I say Unfortunately like I don't want to go away, but I can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But also I would like to come home to a Zed ;)

Boost controller and mapping - how what why?
Haha you're on. Yeah I would be hoping for around 500bhp and think that is probably reasonable with the spec, but will try and have a chat to Noel about it. As long as the seller will be happy to have it mapped by him as it is included in the price of the sale. My only worry is that the guy has built this beautiful machine, capable of good power, but has been running it at 300bhp... why?!!! :p just makes my mind wander What does a map usually cost out of interest?

Boost controller and mapping - how what why?
Hello! Thanks for the reply, that exactly what I was unsure about! So on a built engine would you set a base map on it of 500bhp for example, and then use the boost controller to tweak when the tubs spool etc to get a solid setup? Best regards

Boost controller and mapping - how what why?
Hi guys, Okay please forgive my naivety, but could someone please explain how people use boost controllers? Controller in question is the greddy profec 2. If I had a map done on the car, would this be just tweaking the greddy to get the right boost, gain etc for the desired bhp, or would it be creating a base map and the using the boost controller on a daily basis to tweak or change the amount of boost running?... Kind of confused as to how it is used!! I would imagine that when someone says the car will be mapped, they mean the mapping is done using the greddy and then you leave the controllable where they are for good? Im just discussing the high spec black one from eBay, hopefully going to pick it up soon! Just interested in how much bhp it can run safely as it is pretty well built from what I can tell. Best regards, William

Not very happy at all
Bad news mate - I hope you can work out the best route forward.

Front bumper opinions - 89 Spec
I would be of opposite opinion - I think 89 looks better on a black model with colour coded mustache. The 99 spec loses its pretty details on the dark cars I think. Also you could then sell the 99 spec to me :p

Let's be honest about zed prices
Not the Big BHP black one?....
