H.I.D Kits
I brought a hid kit from ebay for £170 16 months ago. It never worked properly now its replaced :(

New Battery
I got the biggest battery from Halfords that would fit in the battery bay. It was 720amps. It easily exceeds the minimum general and crank ampage needs of my tt zed. Cost £70. General things with batteries is to keep an eye on the acidic stuff that can come out. If there is some white powder around the battery this has happened. In an old naffster Ford Orion i had a battery that leaked and eated through a metal panel that needed welding work.

What don't you like about your zed?
Tweed interior is so Ford Escort L 1985. Stock brakes make braking a zed more -exciting- than accelerating :wack:

Chrome headlight insert problem
Would the pitting be due to the heat put out by the bulbs?

Removal of Air Box the bit that holds the old Air Filter
I am going for an apexi soon. I am tempted to keep the bottom bit in with parts of it cut off as a water shield to protect the air filter.

Removal of Air Box the bit that holds the old Air Filter
First remove the sensor thingy connector from the top. If you don't reconnect that once your done the car will barely run. Undo the circlip from the tube going into the top of the air filter. Then remove the tube from the top of the air filter assembley. Its tight (what aint in a zed!) but it can be jiggled out without to much hassle. Then flick off the pair of clips at each side of the air filter box to remote the top section. Then you can get at a bolt that is at both sides of the under filter box part. Its out of sight but not to hard to remove. Then once the bottom box bit has is not bolted to anything then jiggle it to remove it from the the two side rectangular plastic air hoses. Now i had to bend the bottom bit of the air filter box to get it out. It has a central metal plate that is err bendy. Don't go nuts and really bend it as when you put it back in it has to be bent back to being totaly true so the top section can clip on it seamlessly.

Ooops!!! spun car!!!
Would be worth getting the whole rear suspension\diff subframe out and seeing what is bent.

Better fuel consumption with bigger wheels?
Fit a boost controller to a TT. Leave the boost controller in 'off' mode (well a Greddy Profec IIB one) and it will let the turbos run at safety boost levels. I can an extra 10-15 miles to a tank doing that. Turbos are great with a boost controller for varying economy and power when you really need it :)
-
safe boost
Safety boost in itself is not detrimental to the car at all... but it can be indicative of less than good state of the car I run safety boost level - 6/7psi most of the time with my boost controller. Its lower than normal and gives a few more dribbles of petrol. Now i got my chipped ECU back i will have an option for 14psi when i want mc zoom power :)

intercoolers?
Ah i always fancied a big meaty central cooler. So side ones are the best eh.

Zeds in the snow
Actually keeping that big fuel tank topped up would help.

Should dealer's be held partially accountable
In this scenario imo a dealer has no liability for injury it the zed can drive around and up the motorway at 70mph without bits falling off or the engine going bang. Good tyres and sharp suspension are a must for a zed if it is to be driven as a performance car. When i got my zed i gingerly drove it from southampton importers and found the tyres were crap. Not imports fault at all. I was sold a zed in general good nick - not a race ready car.

Zeds in the snow
My zed has been off the road for 3 weeks.. its getting painfull now. But it will be worth it as i have sorted the headlamps with a clean and a new HID kit. A waxoyl underside corrosion protection coating. Interior tidied up with soldered wiring looms to replace nasty clip on connector split blocks. And i had to keep the zed of the road a bit long to see what my first speeding ticket would hit me for - 72mph in a 50mph dual carriageway - got 3 points, lucky bugger me!
-
Headlights - need them brighter.
The headlamp glass covers do git a film of debris on them. If you remove the headlamps.. which is a total pain in the ass and clean them, you will get an improvement. I rememember driving down a dark country road for the first time in my zed i was terrified, could not see a thing. Got out and i was amazed the headlamps were on. I brought a cheap..er HID kit from ebay-australia for £180, it was so unreliable i took it out.

Zeds in the snow
my zed is off the road but i think it would not be to bad with the Falken 451's on. They have two big channels down the middle of the tyre. But if i had to pull away from the lights on rather steep incline it would be wheely spinny time.

head lights
There is a difference between the types of headlamp bulbs that jap and uk spec headlamps use. They are earthed differently.

Zeds in the snow
My zed is off the road for work at the moment. Is anyone driving their zed in the snow and having fun keeping the rear end and tyres in control :smw:

Nissan quoted me for 350z brake calipers
As part of my big brake quest for the 300zx at not a huge amount of money ( My current options is still to get a smity big brake upgrade and hunt around for Skyline R33/R34 brembo calipers.
-
R33 Brakes
I know discs need to be closely compatible to a zed. Skyline ones can fit with new drilled holes but i wonder if i could slap on brembo calipers from all sorts of different cars given they match the circumference of a brake disc.
-
R33 Brakes
Why the hell are these R33/34 cailpers as rare as hens teeth. I am going to upgrade my zed's stock brakes. Getting R33\34 discs is no problem but what company sells the calipers???

Strange Nissan on eBay...

HID kits...
Well i brought a HID kit on ebay from australia that has never been reliable. I have given up on it and got another one, well fitting it now while i have the zed of the road for all sorts of work.
