  1. Looks like the cast from Conan the Barbarian or Braveheart
  2. Thats interesting, a mate who has gone outside who used to do the same as me is doing IT project managing now. He advised me to get the ITIL exam.Know what you mean by the 'paper MCSE' syndrome. There are people who I work with who have it and don't know their arse from their elbow. They went on 3 week bootcamps and passed the exam through cramming. I'm being very careful to make sure I can do as much as possible practically and not just on paper. I've commandered a room full of computers for 'training purposes'! and reguarly try to brake the networks we work on (not hard!). I've got a lot more respect for the CCNA than the microsoft exams. I think it would be very hard to 'cram' that and pass it. It was a 85% pass rate and you had to know what you were doing practically, not just theoretically. I want to carry on down this route when I leave. More of a niche if I can get really good at it. I've got some good experience so hopefully with the qualifications it will get me a good job. If it all goes pair shaped I'll cry as I've been working my arse off all year to get these qualifications.
  3. I'm not religious, but       usually turn religious if my car has any problems!
  4. Glad most Zeds (imports at least) dont need welding much. Custom shiny pipes maybe.
  5. Kit in ISO containers - the bane of my life. A lot of our deployable computer systems live in ISO's. As we havnt got room to keep them out they have to be lugged out (servers, clients, network infrastructure, satelite connectivity of whatever kind) set up, worked on, then packed away again. Ridiculous state of affairs.
  6. Not particuarly, its just that if one has gone the other could be on the way (70-80k is common time)
  7. Have to ask: please elaborate!
  8. See JAE postcard thread! LOL
  9. Yep completely agree. If 2 lanes of a motorway are closed then the speed should be 160mph!
  10. Took me a morning the first time I lifted the engine. No prior car mechanic experience! Main problem is all the things that don't seem to have a place when you put it back together!! Changing the turbos once the engine is out is easy (and gaskets). Is there any smoke? by the way. Bottom end went on my last one, had no power after.
  11. Field deployable? Why would they want a simulator that can deploy? I went on the simulators at RNAS Culdrose a while back. Great fun. Must be an interesting job. We had an Apache down here in Plymouth taking part in an exercise or something. Impressive bit of kit. Dave
  12. Is it you who's dropping your sandwiches on the tracks and derailing the trains?!!
  13. Now there's a good job!! Was it anything like it sounds?
  14. I think someone on here does some connectors, maybe thats just the injector ones. Nissan looms are £400 so if they do a good job could be worthwhile. Bugger to fit mind. Dave
  15. Maybe not so good for the missus but sounds like a very interesting lifestyle. Maybe she can come out for the weekend? £60 BA. Dave
  16. My Liver's ok to!
  17. Is there plenty of work possibilities for you in Canada?
  18. Thats pretty mad, you'd think the met office would have the best going. Shouldn't surprise me mind knowing some of the sh*t that the forces use. Even in the areas you'd expect to be the best of the best its not. Too caught up in contractual politics "you never specified that in your original order...". Is it right that the Met office has several completely seperate clones of those old crays? Must have cost a fortune in its day. I'm sick of being on the customer/user side of it all, want to get on the other side where the money is. Hopefully I can get work with some of these companies. I'd like to do the contracting, don't mind not having the stability if the money is right.
  19. Thats a great CV! Do you mind if I send you mine at some point. The more advice I can get the better. Dave
  20. LOL honest, its real.
  21. Hi

300zx TT is generally considered a lot more exiting drive than the GTO. They do 0-60 in about 5.5-6 secs (pretty heavy still) depending on mods. As for top speed also varies 155 is standard although mine does that pretty easy with probably more to spare (havn't topped it out yet). Mod wise its similar to the GTO and Supra although the straight 6's in supras (like the skyline) seem to be capable of more extreme tuning (mega high hp I mean). Saying that I recently found out that the 300zx tt holds the land speed record for road legal car. One made by Jun http://www.junauto.co.jp/democar/jb-z32/index.html?en in the states.
  22. Not that I'm jealous or anything but just got this postcard from the lads at JAE, say they are having a wonderful time:
  23. Gonna have to look at SAP, don't know the first thing about it at the moment! Ok forces, IT and upvc windows!
  24. Main cause of all the wiring problems that Zeds tend to have. Looms get cooked over the years. Shame really as I reckon its popularity would be up with the skylines and the like if it lasted better. Must say though my new one with 99spec front runs a lot cooler than my standard 1990 one did. Although that might be because the old one was quietly cooking the pistons with too much boost!!
