  1. Looks very tasty Si. Very nice motor. I like the smoothed tailgate, more sophisticated looking than spoilers I reckon. I do like the 99spec one though. Dave
  2. Just a mention mate, thought you might be interested to know. If you don't mind the date that it goes you can sometimes get it a lot cheaper on the back of another job the company is doing. You just ask if they have any jobs in the same area for the other leg of the journey and they do your car on the spare leg. They will charge who ever it is for a two way journey anyhow and will make some extra money from you. You'll get the job done much cheaper. Ask the buyer in Edinburgh if he has any companies near him delivering somewhere near you. They can take it back with them. Might not be any help but thought I'd mention it. Dave
  3. Lol, yeah I was blo*dy freezing and there's no heating in the car anyhow so it gets pretty nippy on long journeys, especially when I have to use the fan to de-mist the windows. Thanks for those numbers.Dave
  4. doh! Don't let the other forums get that one!
  5. Its been on the car for quite some time. There's no splash panel + I've been driving long distance in very bad weather and floods. Not good, but I've had no choice since my other car died. Anyone got any pictures of what splash panels they've made? Have you just made a front screen or covered it right around or what?
  6. You want me to post this on other forums mate? I'm on UJCC and theres quite a few people from that area. I'd be pi*sed if they'd done that to my car. Dave
  7. Had to drive from Lands-end to Heathrow to pick the missus up on Thursday after her trip to the states. Obviously it was pi*sing down the whole way. I've got a HKS (sponge type) filter on the car and the car kangaroos in driving rain if I put my foot down, so I always go easy in the rain. I got to the M4 near Bath and the car lost all power and conked out (tech term). I could start her up but she wouldn't rev above 2k and stalled again within 15-20secs. I've been expecting trouble with the sponge filter and the MAF but didn't know what the symptoms would be. I spoke to a few people whos' numbers I had at 0830hrs (really sorry about that guys!!), and three people suggested the PTU. I then spoke to Ryan down at Zedtech and he immediatly said it was the MAF gone due to the filter, and told me to disconnect the MAF to get me running again. Weehee! I took the plug off the MAF and the car ran fine although limited to 2000 revs. By a stroke of luck I was fairly near to Zedtech so drove at 30mph 20miles down the motorway (! emotional, I was getting overtaken by arctics!) and into Ryans. Greg and Ryan changed the MAF in about 10mins and gave me a cup of tea to defrost my cold hands. I was chuffed to be back on the road so quickly. Its the first time something has gone wrong on this car since I got it 5mths ago so my heart was jumping plus it was the worst time as I was supposed to be in Heathrow for the Lady. Anyway massive thanks to Ryan and the guys at Zedtech, Ryan is a Zed guru! and big sorry to the guys I was phoning at 8am, hope I didn't wake anyone. Dave ps - new filter on the way!
  8. I wouldn't recomend it but I've got a mate who has lived off of internet poker for 6mths since leaving the military!! He plays each day till he earns £60, and together with his medical pension it tops his old military wages. He reckons he can earn this usually in less than 2hrs each morning. I wouldn't like to think how much he has used in 'training' over the last few years but he just seems to know when and where to play and when to stop. Last weekend he earned £500 (and thats all profit), so doesn't need to play anymore this week. Mad bar-steward. Dave
  9. Happy birthday Neil have a good one. Dave
  10. You'd be b*ggared if you've spent loads of cash on modding. You'd lose so much money that the insurance wouldn't pay up.
  11. No bullets involved with this one!: We were out on Patrol in South Armagh about 5yrs ago. The farmers there wire the electric fences up to the mains. We were tactically crossing a fence in the middle of some large fields. All down on one knee covering while each person got over and all that malarky. My Sargearnt was crossing the fence when he slipped slightly and caught his rifle on the fence. A huge blue spark arced right across his rifle , and I swear the force of the spasm sent him from carefully straddling the fence, to several feet up in the air and then on his face in the mud. We were literally rolling around in the grass p*ssing ourselves with laughter, all tactical behavior went straight out the window.

  13. pmsl! maybe if they offerred tea and coffee the alcohol lovers could take them to court and get a good night out?
  14. Lol, I've got one. Its called a yellow tree:
  15. lol, yeah fair one. I don't think I've ever seen a hessian bag in an enjoyable situation!
  16. Wooooahh! Thats fast as a bucket of fast things with fast stuff sprinkled on top.
  17. FFS, some people have no sense. What does my head in is the wider ramifications of these sh*te attitudes. No christmas? No wine?......what next for christ sake? Because of a*seholes only thinking about themselves and trying to make a quick buck everbody is oversensitive about any remotely similar issue and common sense goes out the window. I hope the judge throws it out and tells him to get a life. Dave
  18. The engine went in my surf mobile escort so now the Zed is my only vehicle. I would like to get something else though as I'm getting an eye opener on how filthy and salty it gets through the winter already. Plus the little accident the other day wasn't funny. Dave
  19. In reply to Craig David: Thats ok mate, your pm and reply here is more than enough to clear up any misunderstanding. We'll have to share a drink at a meet sometime. As for what you say; maybe not in Iraq particulary but certainly in places like Sierra Leone, there were plenty of young kids caught up in the conflict. Maybe because the country as a whole is still very tribal and they are forced into it too. I wasn't there by the way, I was on 'holiday' in South Armagh. Anyway I'm happy to be finished and not going on any more 'holidays' in a green suit. Dave
  20. The actual drunkeness and play fighting in the video is quite harmless and the usual initiation thing. The bloke who punches and kicks the guy is way out of line. I have dealt with bullying but it's not that widespread, at least not in the way this video portrays. I personnally hate it and didn't let it happen to people around me. I think the worst things about this video is that it portrays a very proud corps in a very bad way. Passing out of 8mths of training was the biggest achievment of my life at the time and it would have been horrible to have been frowned upon for being part of the Royal Marines Commandos over a mis-perception in the media. The actual incident is not a mis-perception and the culprit needs to be dealt with, but what people now think of Royal Marines is a mis-perception and it comes at a time when there is already a poor perception of the forces due to recent events.
  21. I completely agree with you mate, and I'm sure others in the Marines do as well. Chances are, unless theres more to it, he's been taught a lesson as I've said.
  22. Thanks mate, I really appreciate your wise words there. Apart from the obvious things I could reply with; you should remember the people in the forces are someones kids, someones parent, someones partner who is sent away to a war zone on the other side of the world by a government that has been voted in by this country. They don't choose what to get involved in, the military is an extension of the governmental arm. I choose to join for the challenge, travel and survival. I've never drunk much and don't really go for that side of things. There are a lot of drinkers in the forces , maybe due to the stress of the lifestyle. I've left because I've done the things I wanted to do, and have a longterm partner I don't want to put through the things a service partner has. The training may be the hardest in the world, but it doesn't have a module on child killing. Indeed I know of a Royal Marine who has delivered a baby in a warzone (and didn't eat it after) when no medical assistance has been available. Drunkeness, nakedness, and fighting all go together with life in the forces and although looking thuggish it does promote comradship. The idiot who went to far in the video probably caught it up off someone else later, as this sort of behavior certainly isnt accepted. Bullying, in my experience, is very rare these days . What I was getting at was how people thought this would effect recruitment and peoples perception of the military. I guess your ignorant opinion has answered the question. The forces are essential for the stability of our country and recruitment problems could ultimately lead to national service being brought back. Some people think this is a good idea for the youths in society today, but do you or your kids/brother/sisters want to be recruited? Maybe you should talk to your grand parents about what it means to be sent to war? and then read about US vietnam vets who have been mantally scarred and come home to be alienated by the population at home. EDIT: This post was in answer to a misunderstanding. Craig David pm'd me and didn't mean things in the way I took them.
  23. I've got an as new, in the box greddy 52mm boost gauge if you are interesting. I don't need it as I have a greedy e-01 controller.
  24. Just wondered what you guys thought of my (almost ex) estemmed collegues in the news today! It looks like the average p*ss up and joining cerimony to me, until the block in the nurse outfit goes to far. Getting naked and wearing womens clothing is an age old tradition peculiar ot the Royal Marines!! There is actually very little bullying that goes on these days, and people that do bully generally get taught a lesson pretty soon by others that don't like to see it. Anyway I was just curious to see what people thought as recruitment is already a problem and I doubt this will help. Dave
