Front fog light removal
Can anybody please advise on removal of the front fog light ? My passenger unit has filled with water and needs either cleaning or replacing but I can't see how to get it out. There's a screw on the front but this just turns and doesn't seem to do much ! Any advice very welcome. Mark

Rust on the rear sill.....body shop recommendations
Hi guys While washing the car this morning I noticed rust breaking through on the rear sill on the drivers side. As annoyed as I am about this I recognise it as an inevitability on a near 20 year old car. I know the parts are relatively available but my question is can anyone recommend a body shop that has done this work on a Z32 in the Surrey area or within a reasonable distance from Surrey. Any experience of what I can expect to pay for the work would be very welcome....I'm thinking that it would make sense to do both sides guard less of need on the near side to include inner and outer sills and arches. Many thanks Mark

Simply Japanese(Beaulieu national motor museum)
It's been a long time since I went to an event but this one sounds like a great day out ! Will it be a case of parking where you can when you arrive or would there be a meeting point at a services somewhere beforehand ? Either way count me in :-) Mark

I know they're getting rarer but........
.....in the last couple of months or so I've done quite a bit of milage in my Zed and I havent seen a SINGLE other 300ZX ANYWHERE !!! I'm assuming that they have really become sunny Sunday toys.......but even then I never see one being driven. There are three others near me that seem to be glued to their driveways ! Sad :-(

Stuck caliper piston
Thanks for all the advice guys ! Richard I think the refurb'd brakes will probably be the way to go.

As much as I love my car.....
I agree......what's more worrying is the evidence of corrosion at the rear sills.....it's only paint discolouration at the moment but I have a feeling I know where that's going to lead !

Brake model ?
I've been playing (!) around with my brakes today and contemplating buying some replacement calipers in a worst case scenario so I was reading the For Sale thread offering some calipers and realised that my calipers are not the same as those in the For Sale thread....mine dont have the 'fins' like those in the picture and also mine are bronze coloured...albeit covered in brake dust etc. They still have NISSAN on them so I'm sure are factory. My car is a JDM '95 Series 4 I believe so can anyone tell me what brakes I have ? Or are they in fact the same only cosmetically different ? Thanks Mark

Stuck caliper piston
Cheers for the tips :-) At least once its done I'll have peace of mind on the braking front.

As much as I love my car.....
....sometimes I just want to put a match to it !!! Failed the MOT - needed rear tyres and rear brake pads. Getting the alloys off to replace the tyres resulted in shearing THREE studs !! Rear brake pads went in ok after managing to remove the sheared studs and replacing with factory supplied replacements. Actually getting the discs off was looking like an impossibility until a neighbour pointed out the two little threaded holes on each disc that you screw a bolt into thus pushing off the disc. Attention then on the front pads......drivers side no problem....passenger side caliper one piston stuck solid ! AAARGH !!!

Stuck caliper piston
At the MOT station the mechanic suggested I should invest in some new pads. Got the pads and removed the old ones but I cannot get the new ones in as one piston is jammed solid !! I have tried everything I can think of but it's not moving ! If I can get the caliper off the car can anyone suggest how I could extract the piston ? I would then rebuild the caliper using a rebuild kit on both calipers. Thanks for any tips. ps the brake line nuts are also absolutely SOLID and attempts to undo them are simply rounding off the edges of the nut :-( I've liberally applied WD40 ! Cheers Mark

Auto grearbox service
Hi Jeff That's very much appreciated thank you. Mark

Auto grearbox service
Can anyone advise please ? I am planning to flush my gearbox oil as i think it feels a little 'slack'......nothing I can really put my finger on......maybe slow shifts and doesn't really pick up too quickly when I press the loud pedal. Obviously it would make sense to clean the filters and check for debris/filings etc and replace gaskets etc. Can anyone advise the correct service part number or if there is even a service kit available ? I believe the box is a RE4RO3A but asking my local Nissan dealer for any more would be a waste of breath and phone call !! Any advice very gratefully accepted. Mark

Nissan dependability - started first time !!!
As an afterthought to that comment.........I've owned a 300 since 1998 with a small break for a 350Z so I dont think I'd consider them shit. Maybe you've misunderstod my comment as a criticism of the car or Nissan in particular but I love my Z or maybe you just see a negative where there is none. Whatever....I'll continue to enjoy my Z ownership in my own obviously sad way.

Nissan dependability - started first time !!!
I suppose you cant please all of them all the time.

Nissan dependability - started first time !!!
Yeah I need to get up there too ! Havent had it serviced by them since they did it for me shortly after buying it over 2 years ago......mind you I've only done about 2k miles in it in all thattime !

Nissan dependability - started first time !!!
My car has been off the road 'sorn'ed for the past 6 months sitting on my drive in all weathers but I thought 'bugger the expense' and taxed etc it yesterday. I put the charger on it for an hour then climbed in to start it up thinking that it would take a few turns to fire up but I kid you not it started on the very first revolution of the engine/first spark plug to fire !!!! I left it ticking over for a few minutes as it warmed up and in moments it was purring so smoothly ! I can remember cars from my youth that were a total lottery first thing in the morning ! It's no wonder the Japanese car manufacturers grew to dominate the world like they did ! Happy Z owner :-)
