I went a very long time ago it was fantastic but so expensive, would love to go again one day.

Hi been working hard last few days trying to get finished for the AGM. Rear suspension together, I’m still waiting on a bush for the front. Most of engine back together and some wiring done, going to move PTU to under nose panel while I’m at it, being an S2 unit has the conversion loom, so I will cut old cracked connectors off and connect new type to existing loom. I am taking my brothers car in for some bodywork tomorrow and will be left without a car, so not sure how I will be able to travel to the garage to finish it in time.

Yes it was a Gates belt.

Well my order came today expressed it. I had luckily added an OEM timing belt. Thanks Jimmer I can’t believe it, was easy to fit and gap stayed at 4mm, the other belt was tight when fitted that’s why I ordered both tensioner and belt. As people have said in the past OEM is the only way.

I have ordered one will try that first. Thanks

Oh well I just could not get the timing belt adjuster to stay at 4mm, it kept going to 2mm after two turns of the engine, so I have ordered a new one. I can get on with putting the suspension back together.

For now I only want the rubber back plate stuff they look good to me.

Hi all F.Y.I While I have been putting my engine back together I noticed a few bits missing, degrading on the cam back plate, so I looked on google and this kit came up on EBay. I was not sure what I would receive, it turned up this morning and to my surprise it’s excellent, I now have the missing rubber seals, can do the oil filter tree, rear cam seal and sump at some other time.

That’s really kind Paul, I have booked a B&B Thurs & Friday night, I can’t do the travelling, it’s a long way from you, I’m sure i will be ok.

The problem is the car is in south London at my brothers place only 15 mls from here but a minimum of an hour drive via Blackwell Tunnel. Have the suspension to put back on, plenum, all wiring connectors, rad, pipe work and a few other bits. Next time I can get there is Thursday. Thanks for the offer shame it’s not closer.

It’s ok to keep the weather up your end.

Cleaned the intake manifold, injector holes and changed the spark plugs, I must remember next time I’m at the garage to bring my kettle, those new fuel pipes just won’t go on. So I got on with the front assembly. Glad I purchased new Allan bolts for the water outlet pipes.

Very smooth.

Who said working in a Zed engine bay was cramped.

Wow that’s so nice.

Finally got another hub puller, I asked the other company for a replacement and 2 weeks later got a refund, then I had to purchase another. Took a few attempts but did the trick.
