"You picked a fine time to leave me, Loose Wheel!" - Mondo's new Zed.
The Zed is home!! I'll have a thorough look at the wheels tomorrow morning but I suspect there could be a reason why I had to collect her when the sun had gone down......

Just been down to drop another tyre off and to see how things are progressing. My wheels have been acid-dipped and shotblasted again and were all primed up and awaiting some flatting. He seems confident that everything'll be ready for me to collect late tomorrow afternoon... fingers firmly crossed!

Seriously? There are two white N-reg Slicktops in Gloucester...?!- Altia Rear Quarter Window Panels
I'm pretty sure this Zed was one I gave a quote on for the interior a while ago... owned by an older guy called Keith, if I'm right. He's got a 2+2 TT as well - I think that's at Jimmer's gaff as we speak.- Where does your screen name come from?
Back when I used to be in a band, the drummer was fairly obsessed with Dr Gonzo from Fear & Loathing In Las Vegas so the bass player decided that we should all be "Dr Something", just for a giggle... So Dave (the drummer) was Dr Gonzo. Kev (bass player) decided on Dr Snuggles for himself, which just left me. So they both decided that Simon would become Simondo... which became Dr Mondo (also what I laughingly named my drum machine a few years later!)... which ended up simply as Mondo and it's stuck ever since. :thumbup1:- I suppose I'm a newbie again
He's much happier with the Teg, as it happens. Something about having space to work around the engine or something...!- "You picked a fine time to leave me, Loose Wheel!" - Mondo's new Zed.
As I said, all I'm paying now is the price that he and I originally agreed, which is exactly as it should be. :) Fingers crossed that there no more unforeseen problems, either before or after......- "You picked a fine time to leave me, Loose Wheel!" - Mondo's new Zed.
No money has changed hands at this point. I replied to his offer of paying an extra £75 by politely saying no as there should be no way I'd ever be expected to pay for something that is his fault and his responsibility... and he replied by saying that he'd do the wheels how I want them at his expense. Which is exactly as it should be! There's been many a job I've done where I've needed to order more leather (due to miscalculation or mistakes on my part) and never once have I asked a customer to pay extra! It's simply not the way things are done! If the mistake is mine then the responsibility (financial or otherwise) to rectify it is also mine. All being well, the car will be ready to collect at some point on Saturday... watch this space, I guess.....- "You picked a fine time to leave me, Loose Wheel!" - Mondo's new Zed.
I seem to have inherited some of Richie K's bad luck here.... :( There's been "an issue" with the refurb, inasmuch that they seem to have exposed the painted wheels to too much heat (to cure the powdercoat lacquer) and it's bubbled all the paint... so I've just been told that "all he can do" is to strip them again and powdercoat the entire wheel in a flat grey (not a metallic, as I wanted) because " he's spent too long on them already and he's nearly out of pocket"... "That's life" apparently! So I've asked him if he can just paint them how I want them, rather than trying to combine paint and powdercoat, because I don't want a set of flat grey wheels. He responded by saying that if I buy more paint (£75) then he'll cover the cost of more shotblasting and he'll do them exactly how I want them. So that's an extra £75 added to the bill for an issue that is no fault of mine whatsoever!!! Thoughts, people? I'm far from a happy bunny here... he assured me that a two-colour refurb would be no problem, but now I can either have a set of wheels that are nothing at all like how I wanted them to be, or I can pay through the nose for something that he said he could do from the outset! Raging...!!- I suppose I'm a newbie again
He definitely put some graft into it! from what I remember, he only sold it as he needed a more economical car to run around in... so he bought an Integra!- I suppose I'm a newbie again
Spectre owned this Zed recently - I seem to remember he had a lot of welding and repairs done to it! Last time I saw it, it was on eBay with a totally knackered turbo (apparently)...- What did you do to your zed today?
As much as it pains me to say this, our FunkySi can knock the bolded section out of the park himself when he chooses to! With regards to the "funky" comment; I'm struggling to see why anyone would take it as being derogatory - it is indeed a very funky rear panel now and it's great that Andy's brought an original Altia one back to life. Ali's far from being the only person on here to state that something may not be to his taste. Hell, I've done it plenty of times myself! It's possibly just more noticable from him because he's on here 24/7....! Anyhoo, Phutumsch and Pebkau: explain your usernames please!- What did you do to your zed today?
Er... what now...?- "You picked a fine time to leave me, Loose Wheel!" - Mondo's new Zed.
Time for a quick update, I think. My wheels have been acid-dipped and shotblasted and some colour applied - I popped down to see everything last night. Hopefully I should be able to go and collect her at the weekend as there's still more to do :) End of update!- 1999 TT £10.000 Pistonheads
Aye, those fake vents! I must admit, I understand the purpose behind them but I'm personally not a fan of them....- 1999 TT £10.000 Pistonheads
Is this renowned car actually a 1999 one...?- Any Harry Potter fans on here...?
Any Harry Potter fans on here...? I have 2 adult tickets for the Harry Potter Studio Tour in Leavesden available as we can no longer go on the day we chose and they're non-refundable and the date is sadly not changeable. Details are: 2 adult tickets for Monday, 15th February. The tour starts at 9.30am. The following link provides more information: https://www.wbstudiotour.co.uk/the-t…/about-the-studio-tour… There is also a 2-course lunch booked at the De Vere Hunton Park hotel for 1.30pm that day. Again, this is non-refundable so comes as a part of this package. Details below: http://www.deverevenues.co.uk/…/venues/hunt…/food-and-drink/ The vouchers will be posted First Class Recorded Delivery, or emailed if preferred. Tickets for the tour are £35 each from the website so, including the posh lunch, I'd like £85 for the whole package. Feel free to share this with anyone you think might be interested. Genuinely gutted not to be able to go as this was a Christmas present for me, but circumstances have meant that the 15th is no longer viable. Cheers!- best place to used to rear screen removal
Are you buying new weatherseals and clips for the refitting, Dan...?- The Great Japanese Interior Re-trim
I have to be honest with you here, William: I'm not liking either of those materials personally. :( The sackcloth you've chosen for the bolsters doesn't have a very nice look to it... to me, it literally looks like sackcloth that's been dyed. There are far nicer woven fabrics out there. And I'm not feeling the centres either. It all reminds me of a Mk1 Fiesta or something of that era, rather than a 90s sports car. I'm not knocking what you're doing here in any way, shape or form - believe me, I know all too well how much work is going into this! Myself though, I'd have finished the leather trim first before side-stepping onto another project. But yeah, my overall feeling about your latest retrim project is that I just don't like the fabric choices at all... sorry! :(- Red barons car for sale
Counting down..... :pinch:- "You picked a fine time to leave me, Loose Wheel!" - Mondo's new Zed.
Well, my Zed is now residing in Hartlepool while the wheels get refurbed. It's very strange (and a little nerve-wracking!) not having her on the drive.... :sweatdrop:- Balance Bars
