  1. That was pretty much the effect I was looking for, to be honest :) Nice and subtle, but still there (if that makes sense?)...
  2. Well, people can now judge for themselves... the refurbed calipers are now on: I think they're incredibly subtle, despite being Candy red! I can also confirm that my braking is now very much improved as well, which makes a wonderful change! I'm very happy with how it's all turned out after such a debacle with the original wheels  FunkySi may not approve of some things, but I can live with that.... ;)
  3. Brake calipers going on tomorrow  That should help to make a little more sense of my super red wheel emblems!
  4. I too have the compressor... and the SWB-specific alloy spacesaver... :) Never seen that tyre pressure gauge before though! I'll have to have a thorough investigate in the boot, methinks....
  5. What about Anthony...? :thumbup1:
  6. I think there are two things that make them look so big in comparison to the old wheels: the design being totally different (these are concave whereas the TDs had a deep dish) and also the fact that, due to the rears being 0.5" wider than previously, there's a small amount of stretch on the tyres now. Looking at your sig pic, I don't think mine look any larger than your Nismos, Pete :)
  7. They do have a bit of a presence, don't they... :) 19s - same as the old set, mate :)
  8. As promised, some cleaner pictures: Took the old wheels to their new owner this afternoon, popped in to see Lexx :) and then stopped of for a super-glamorous photoshoot! She's a pretty little thing....
  9. Those boxes will look superb when they're fitted, Lee...
  10. It's the main reason I didn't change to a 99-Spec front bumper, to be honest. I like my little lip too much. :)
  11. I have no idea where my lip came from, mate - it was on the car when it was imported. I've never found a similar one through a Google search either!
  12. The red centre badges will make more sense next week... ;) It's just the design that makes them look so big, Gaz - they're the same size as the last lot were :thumbup1:
  13. I used gloss black on mine and it looks lovely :)
  14. Thank you  I'm still smarting from the refurb fiasco, but I'm over the moon with the new wheels it forced me into buying!
  15. Since you asked... She'll be getting a thorough cleaning tomorrow!
  16. Yup. A test fit yesterday showed that they'll fit exactly as the TD ones do currently, which is nicely. :) My new centre badges have been delivered and fitted, which means I'm about to head off to have everything swapped over!
  17. Seeing as we're entering my sphere of expertise here... :) The OEM leather would have been reasonably supple originally but, after a couple of decades of sunlight and (probably) very little care, the entire structure dries out and it becomes hard and brittle and yes, easily damaged. Now, all upholstery leather actually has a vinyl topcoat to it. This is printed with whatever grain pattern is required and also, in the case of automotive leather, is treated for UV-protection. Any kind of leather food is designed to penetrate this topcoat and nourish the cowhide beneath. The topcoat itself is super-thin so most of what you feel is actually the skin beneath it. Automotive Nappa leather is also very different to "ordinary" Nappa leather, which is usually reserved for clothing. Auto Nappa is so called based on the grain pattern and it's suppleness, rather than it being "actual" Nappa leather hide. It's designed to look good and wear well, as all upholstery leathers are, but the softer the finish the more susceptible to damage and marking it is. :thumbup1:
  18. I already have 20mm spacers on the front, Joel. The TD fronts are 8.5" with ET35 and, due to the design, wouldn't clear the bigger brake setup without spacers. So I decided to get spacers that would flush the wheels to the arch, seeing as I needed some regardless. And I think I might get them done this afternoon, rather than tomorrow. So watch this space.....
  19. I have a set of red tuner nuts for sale. These were bought last week and five of them were fitted to my car this morning for less than 2 minutes! Sadly, this means I can't return them to the supplier now as they have been "used." These are steel nuts, not aluminium! They cost me £25 last week from the Rota Wheels shop so I'd like £22 delivered please. :)
  20. Teeny-weeny update: I test-fitted one of the fronts this morning, for the simple reason that I don't know what ET the Team Dynamics are so I needed to find out whether or not my front spacers are still required for the new shoes or not. It seems that both the TD alloys and the new ones are ET35, which means that they'll fit nice and flush. :) And yes, even just changing a single wheel (without a tyre) changes the whole look of the Zed! Of course, I'd have much preferred not to have wasted £250 on the TD refurb in the first place......
  21. Definitely SW20 MR2 rear lights :thumbup1:
  22. See, that was my thinking as well. I spotted the nod to the Azevs as soon as I saw them and, no matter what else I looked at, I kept coming back to these ones. :) I think they'll change the look of the car quite dramatically! Thank you :) All being well, they'll be getting fitted on Friday. The only part I need is some new badges for the centres and they've already been ordered and should hopefully arrive on Thursday. Then the refurbed and painted calipers are going on Tuesday morning... - - - Updated - - - Cheers! Can't wait to get them on, if I'm honest!
  23. I went with my first choice in the end. I like quite simple and uncluttered wheels as a rule, and I fancied a nice set of concave ones... in a contrasting colour to the silver bodywork... and I'm a sucker for a nice, classic 5 spoke design too.... So I went with a set of Calibre CC-F alloys  Fronts are 19" x 8.5" and the rears are 19" x 10" and the rears have a lovely dish to them! The fronts are concave as well, but it's certainly more pronounced on the rear wheels! Whilst I have precisely no doubt that they won't be to everyone's tastes, I really like them. And that's what counts.
  24. So... Mondo now officially has some brand new wheels....
  25. My TD Diablo alloys are now up for sale. 19" diameter, 8.5" front and 9.5" rear widths. Unsure of the offsets, to be honest - the rears fit nicely but the fronts are currently running 20mm spacers which brings them nice and flush with the arches. Now, as most of you will already know, these have only recently been "professionally refurbished"... the centres have been done in Mazda Titanium Grey and the lips in a nice bright silver. :) The finish is far from the best though, to say the least! I'll let the pictures do the talking... All the wheels have red anodised rim bolts (even though they're one-piece wheels) and the centre caps have brand new red and silver "Z" domed gel badges fitted. A set of tyre valves will also come with the wheels. They will come with a set of 73.1mm spigot rings to centralise them on your hubs and they come with a full set of nuts including 4 locking nuts (key included of course). There will be NO TYRES on these rims. Make me an offer please and they can either be collected from Trimdon Village, County Durham or couriered at the buyer's expense.
