Guest dan300zx Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 I have got on to national windows just waiting for them to get back to me - - - Updated - - - i have tripped the car down big time as doing a proper paint job not just a fast over spray Quote
Joely P Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 After researching for months for a company I trusted to paint my car, I decided to ask them if they can recommend a local glass company. They use the same bloke for all their work ranging from everyday cars to classics to supercars and as I didn't have any contacts in that game I decided to trust their experience. He was very reliable, very experienced and did a great job in both removal and installation. He charged me £150 to come to my house and remove all the glass (excluding the door glass) and reinstall it when I was ready which was a few weeks later (+£180 for a brand new front screen). If you've sourced yourself a reliable bodyshop, it maybe an idea for you to get recommendations from them too? Simon used national windscreens and got a decent fitter, although I think you take a big gamble with these big national companies as to who you get on the day, I'd say Simon was possibly lucky. Quote
Guest dan300zx Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 national windscreens wont do it just rung back saying wouldnt touch it Quote
Funkysi Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 You probably went through to the main National Windscreens switchboard. Go to your local depot. They've always been more than happy to do work on my Z. Quote

Funkysi Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 Sounds about right. I think it was £60 to remove and refit my rear screen and about £30 for each corner window. I wouldn't quibble about £150. Quote

Mondo Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 Are you buying new weatherseals and clips for the refitting, Dan...? Quote
Guest dan300zx Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 if they come off broke yes am fiitting new roof trims and new scuttles Quote
Funkysi Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 That's because the rear screen is fragile. If they break it, it's around £650 new as it's a Nissan-only part. As for the weatherstrips and seals, just buy new ones. The old seal will be hard and won't reseat. The lower seal is around £80. The top seal is a lot more expensive if that can be saved. It's rigid though, so has a higher chance of being saved. There are 2 clips in it though that the windscreen guy will have to cut through. Quote
Guest dan300zx Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 what and were are the clips? in the rear screen ? Quote
Funkysi Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 There are clips in the top trim. One either side. They press-in when the top trim is slid over the glass and then the whole lot bonded in and have to be cut when the screen is cut out. They are part of the top trim. It's not essential they're replaced, you can simply re-use the top-trim, there are also 2 locator tabs on the lower corners. Again, not really essential they're replaced either. They're there mainly for manufacturing purposes so that the vehicle can be moved and worked on immediately after the screen is bonded in. There are clips in the rear quarter windows in the corners that do the same thing. Quote

Here are the US dollar prices. Nissan in the UK will be expensive also.. 90352-32P00 REVEAL MOLDING UPPER, 4 SEATER $207.68 2 90366-30P00 REVEAL MOLDING, RIGHT CORNER $20.71 2 90367-30P00 REVEAL MOLDING, LEFT CORNER $20.71 3 90372-32P00 REVEAL MOLDING LOWER, 4 SEATER $108.55 Quote
Funkysi Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 Dont break that top seal or damage the corners. You can't get the top trim off without cutting through those clips as they sit inside an enclosed box section (unless I am corrected). You won't damage the actual trim by doing so either. Quote
Guest dan300zx Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 soon find out there doing it now Quote
Guest dan300zx Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 good news all the seals are saved and are in good order. just need them clips as he cut them Quote
