  1. I haven't been very far at all since I fitted them and they obviously need running in, but there's noticably more "bite" from them even at this early stage :)
  2. I wouldn't especially care about the interior (for obvious reasons) or an engine or box. It'd need to be a roller and a solid shell, that's all. I'm just bouncing ideas around in my head at the moment, matey :)
  3. Ok, if I was so inclined to buy one, what would a solid SWB targa rolling shell be worth please?
  4. I literally fitted a pair yesterday! You need a caliper relocation bracket, either made or they're available on eBay and you need to remove a couple of millimetres from the leading edges of the calipers or they catch the edge of the disc. Other than that, the discs appear to be a completely straight swap! :thumbup1:
  5. My old girl needed her rear brakes replacing as they were all rusty and generally knackered. And I'd bought a big front brake kit at a bit of a bargain price so... 345mm Brembo discs up front and new OEM stuff at the back. As can plainly be seen, I decided to spruce up the calipers a little too... it's meant to be copper, but looks more like gold to my eyes... I had to buy some 3mm spacers for the fronts as the calipers just caught on the inside of the spokes, but all is well now. Of course, not having an MOT at the moment is a bit of a pain... and I think I may have discovered a hole or two while I was under there today... :( :(
  6. I changed my front brakes yesterday and, once the calipers completely separated from the hub, the disc should just slip off. If it seems to be seized on, you could either tap it with a hammer or use a suitable sized bolt in the spare hole(s) to force the disc away from the hub.
  7. :thumbup1:
  8. Thank you for all the donations, folks :) Mrs Mondo's smiling at the generosity! :thumbup1:
  9. The ladies send their huge gratitudes, Andy!! Thank you very much, mate :) :thumbup1:
  10. I shall look into this further. Thanks, guys! :)
  11. Here's my quandary: I'd like my ignition ring to light up constantly as soon as the car's unlocked and to turn off when the car's locked. Is there a way I can link into the central locking (or the alarm loom) whereby that'd be possible...? Please note: I don't want it to be an ignition live! Any help would be greatly appreciated :)
  12. I think it would be nice if we could have a dedicated project thread for each member, if they want it. Not a blog or the journals - a proper section for build threads. In my opinion, that'd make it better than, for example, posting in "What Did You Do To Your Zed Today?" as each person's entries are sometimes weeks or months apart. Just my $0.02 :)
  13. Drop Phutumsch a PM - this is very much his department! :)
  14. 4 days in total here. Operation performed by two absolute n00bs to the Z32. A few phone calls to Luke at Z Centre and a couple to Baz as well. It's obviously not helping Derek's timescales if the mechanic has to keep shutting up to do things with his missus! :( Keep the faith though, chap - it'll all be worth it when the conversion's complete, I promise!!
  15. If I was ultimately concerned with power and grip and handling, I'd have never bought a Zed  But I bought one because it's one of the most beautiful cars I've ever laid eyes on, it has more than enough power (even as standard) to back up it's looks and it's heritage, and even sitting on the drive as it is now, it NEVER fails to raise a smile when I see it. :) An Evo, on my other hand, is a bit too clinical for my tastes. And a bit too "four door saloon" as well. Whilst I know that's part of the point of them: to be a practical car that's also lightning-fast, they just don't impress me :( Had I been your cousin, I'd have either gone for an aforementioned ST205 (or the Carlos Sainz you linked to before) or I'd have snapped up the Celica SS-III that's on eBay at the moment! But ultimately, if he gets the Evo, I hope he has an absolute whale of a time driving it - if that's what he wants, more power to him, Tom :thumbup1:
  16. Whilst I can respect and, to a point, admire the power and grip that Evos (and Subarus) deliver, the visual leaves me stone-cold! I've always loved coupes, so even saloons like the M3 and Sapphire Cosworth (back in the day) didn't have me drooling like a lot of people do. I'd rather have a good-looking body with reasonable power, like a GT-Four, than have an insane turn of speed and look like I've driven through Halfords! That's just my opinion, of course. :)
  17. Given my limited knowledge of all thing Zed-related, I tend to only actively participate in threads in which I can have a genuine and worthwhile input. :) But as my knowledge increases, I expect my posts will as well. :thumbup1:
  18. Thanks, Tony. There's a link in my opening post - just click on that when you get a spare moment. :) Wow! Thanks, Steve - like you haven't done enough for me today or anything!! :thumbup1:
  19. Hi everyone, This is Mrs Mondo (she's on the left): She's going to be doing the "Pretty Muddy" Race For Life on Saturday 24th May in Sunderland. Basically, 5k in a mudbath! To make matters worse, she'll be doing it... in a onesie, along with her little sister and some friends! Now where we live, lots of people wear onesies outdoors - usually for going to Asda in. But she's wearing hers for a good cause and she's going to end up absolutely filthy raising money so, if anyone would like to make a donation, the team's JustGiving link can be found here. Pennies or pounds, it all makes a difference :) So yeah, I'm going to have a filthy missus (in an entirely different way  ) and hopefully she'll raise some pennies for Cancer Research. :) Thanks, Si.
  20. Put them all in a box, pack them so they don't rattle and then send 'em through Paisley as a gearbox or something! :thumbup1:
  21. I've heard a rumour that if you sell your car after the new rules come into force and the new owner doesn't tax it, you're still liable for the penalty! :o It may be one of those "mate down the pub" rumours, but it's apparently so the selling owner makes sure the new owner taxes the car before they drive it anywhere...
  22. From reading the latest auction, it looks like it was bought very recently and the new owner is now selling almost straight away... :detective: And not even bothering to take and use any of their own pictures either!! It is a beautiful machine though!
